So how do you guys feel about that idea? It was always a given that Superman and Wonder Woman were immortal, but recently i've seen certain comics exploring the idea of Batman managing to find a way to live forever or regaining his youth as a senior.

Frank Miller & Brian Azzarello's The Master Race recently had Superman dumping geriatric Batman into a Lazarus pit saving his life and restoring his youth.
>>
Batman should be immortal, but not Bruce.
He'll end up dying as Batman and the mantle will pass to someone else, be it Dick, or Tim or Damian. Then either the same will happen to them, or perhaps Damian will use his family's Lazarus pits to live forever.
>>

This will never happen. It's more believable that his kids will continue under their own titles while Bruce remain forever as Batman.
>>
>>89010584

Why would Damian be an eternal Batman and not Bruce? They both have access to Lazarus pits.

Is it just because you like the idea of Damian being Batman?
>>
>>89010623
Because Bruce wouldn't choose to do that.

>>89010614
Obviously not in comics published by DC, where all characters will remain roughly the same age from now until the end of time.

>Because Bruce wouldn't choose to do that.

Why wouldn't he choose that?

I don't see Bruce deciding to leave the burden that he carries to his sons. He already sacrificed a lot to be the Batman. Things that cost him dearly. Why would he want his sons to do the same?

Yes, they can be heroes as well, but on their terms. He's proud of them. He was proud when Dick decided to strike out on his own as Nightwing.

I don't see Bruce deciding to leave the legacy of the Batman on their hands knowing what the costs are. He'd probably, if possible, decide to keep going on so that his sons can be free to live their own lives.

Nah do what Futures End did.
A series of clones who take over when one gets too old.
>>
>>89010623
Because it is more fitting of the character.

Bruce is so stubborn and against things like killing or using the Lazarus Pits,
It makes more sense for someone like Damian who barely still tries to live a kill free lifestyle.

There's actually an alt future from one time Capt Atom went to the future, and Damian was Batman who had been using the Lazarus Pit and was already like 130 and looking like AzBat, but less brightly colored.
>>
Just do what Generations did and have Batman be an immortal via Lazarus pit who hangs out with his bro Superman on the moon forever
>>
>>89010751
Because Bruce doesn't trust himself.

He has often gotten superpowers temporary, and given them up sometimes cause he feels he loses his edge of focus and start to get sloppy.
And he knows for a fact that the Lazarus Pit makes you psychotic and probably long term effects if used too much.

He would probably rather die than turn into the kinda Batman the Lazarus Pit might mak him.
>>

In many incarnation Supes eventually developed slowed aging to the point where he basically lives to a thousand while only looking 10 years old, gets bored since his descendants are super-powered like him and just straight up leaves earth only to sun dip for another thousand years becoming truly immortal. Then he merges with some eternal uber wall for like 30k years and just straight up creates his own universe.

>There's actually an alt future from one time Capt Atom went to the future, and Damian was Batman who had been using the Lazarus Pit and was already like 130 and looking like AzBat, but less brightly colored.

Based on Batman #666, a reality where Damian was a shitty Batman that sold his soul to the devil and filled Gotham with bombs. Then Morrison had him dooming Gotham to it's destruction in the second series of Batman, Inc.

Damian would make a shitty Batman.
>>
>>89010751
dk, everytime we have a story about the lazarous pit, R'as al ghul and batman. Bruce never budges about cheating death. He believes the side effect is too dangerous for him. Damian is morally bankrupt enough to do so.

Personally batman either dies in the line of duty due to his body failing or remains a bitter old man with everyone leaving him, like seen in Batman Beyond.
>>
>>89011603

But in Batman: Year 100 he was immortal. There are several ways in which he can remain immortal.

It fit with the meta idea that the trinity will always be around.
>>
>>89011638

Batman was revived by the Lazarus pit in Endgame, though.
>>
>>89011664
Snyder is a hack. Everyone on co knows that anon. Besides didn't he lose his memory and shit? Before Endgame which was like a year or two ago, for the last 30 or so years the guy despised the lazarous pit.

So would you go over one story or a hundred others produced?
>>
I think Superman only becomes immortal if he cooks himself in the sun

I like the idea of a story where a dying batman was forced in the Lazarus pit
>>
>>89010521
What's the point?
It's not like they will get rid of him like ever, so in the end he is immortal anyway.
>>
>>89011902

He cracked his skull so the Lazarus pit healed his brain rewriting his neurons.
>>
>>89012003

The meta idea that the trinity will remain forever alive unchanging.

The Green Lanterns, the Flashes and so on come and go but the Trinity will remain as they're.
>>
Why doesn't Batman just choose to be immortal?

Hob did it in Sandman. It's easy, just choose not to die.
>>
>>89010623

Batman doesn't want to exist but he's necessary.

The Nolan trilogy explores this. The amount of damage he soaked up in TDK was near crippling.

The comics touch on this every once in awhile. He doesn't even want a successor, he wants his kids to fight for a better world on their own feet.

Bruce Timm hit this twice, once in Batman Beyond were Bruce gets tempted with the "reward" of a perfected Lazarus dose for all he did for the world. Once again with the reveal Waller was prepared to replace Batman when he fell.

>mantle will pass to someone else, be it Dick, or Tim or Damian
Or Terry
