Shonen is often used to describe series that are ridiculously long with drawn out fights due to heavy exposition and filler episodes that lead to nowhere. Some other trademarks are exaggeration of blood (particularly coming out of the mouth), shouting the name of an attack during a fight with a complicated name, gratuitous amounts of fanservice, and having different groups of villains each with its own hierarchy where the hero always goes toe to toe with the one at the top while his allies get the minions.

First of all comic artists are trash.
Second, comic artists don't know anything about Asian myths and a lot of shonen manga have asian stuff engrained into them, or simply the personalities, there's a lot of characters in manga that wouldn't make sense in a western world but their personalities work in the east.

Third and last, it would mean several writers and a never ending story.

Dragon Ball is bad for manga standards, you can find so much better than it without even trying same goes for Naruto or One Piece, but they're still better written and much more consistent than 90% of comics.

I know I'd get a LOT of shit for this, but one of the only anime movies i'd trust for an American Live Action release would be a Phantom Blood Movie.

Because there's nothing hollywood loves more than Vampires and England. The only issue is that you'd have to find a director who isn't terrified of color.
