Where did this meme came from? Will it ever die?
Why do normies hate them so much?
Will people ever get that the trunks are needed to balance the colours of the suit?

im more of a ''PUT FUCKING ANYTHING THERE '' supporter
simply trowing it away makes the suit look too much like pyjama

Why are you so obsessed with it? Originally it wasn't even trunks or undies as you people like to refer to them, you just memed that into existence.

It came from changing ideas of what was cool. Originally the whole strongman in long johns was pretty cool. Atleast to the intended audience. It won't die because that look will never come back in style. Normies don't hate it, it's just the same cheap joke and acknowledgement that in reality it's not a cool look. Most people don't really care about illustrative design concepts, most aren't even aware of them.

They aren't though. The fact is there's other ways to do it
.>>88986428
This is a good example, but it's still a bit off, probably because of the yellow in the S.

Really it's the boots that break up the visuals while texturing can do what the trunks did. It's why Batman ussually works without his trunks, and why most superheroes do as well.
>>88986388
This doesn't really work because there's too little going on in the design, and the cuts don't match anywhere. ou've got all sorts of shapes going on that clash with each other and not enough color in places.
>>
The real issue is the DCU costume sucks. It's super dark, the texture is awful. This low-budget cosplay looks better with less effort.

It was based of the Uniforms of Acrobatic circus performers at the time, but it just doesn't work in the current time, it needs to be more modern and intricate

Intricate designs don't work because it's not easy to translate into different art styles, when the Artist takes over they'll change it or artists get lazy and simplify it to make it easier to draw.

This design is pretty good, the only problem I have his how few artists can draw the belt well. Only Gleason, Reis and maybe Mahnke do. Everyone else does it awfully.

Every time someone redesigns Superman suit without the trunks it just looks fucking awful.

You can keep trying hard enough but you can't fix what wasn't broken.
>>
Iconic universal design is iconic universal design you fucking morons. A nigh-omnipotent alien from outer space does not need to adhere to fashion trends of a different reality. The lack of trunks is everything that is wrong with DC.

Your post is autistic as fuck, but since you asked for this, the reason people mock Superman red trunks is because it looks campy. It's that simple. It's a no brainer that Super Heroes costumes at first got inspiration from circus acrobatic acts. But even at the time Superman attire was really campy. His trademarked plated red/blue colors, cape, trunks and spandex. But at the time it used to give a impression of amazing-ness, now more associated with just silly carnival clothes.
When you think about it, Super is one of the few old time heroes that don't got a radical costume change with time. People realized Batman costume was outdated and used it on his own advantage, in the intentionally campy Adam west series. Same for Aquamen, Space Ghost and others "parody" heroes.

But Superman, in another hand, dresses like a 40's circus wonder in 2016 while being 100% serious about everything. That's the joke.

There is no purpose to break up the colors, other superheroes do just fine with no undies to "break up the color", you are all simply too used and attached to the classic costume so you just think it looks wrong, but its not.
>>
>>88988417
It's classic design that resonates for a reason you simple fuck.
>>
I love watching arguments where one side is clearly never going to win and not even realizing their battle is a lost cause but they keep on fighting anyways.

The underoos look isn't coming back for at least a generation. Oh, it'll be referenced now and then, you'll see it pop up in the multiverse events for example, but core Supes wont be wearing the trucks again anytime soon. Maybe you'll get the next-gen's Geoff Johns going through a nostalgia binge bringing them back, thats about the best you can hope for. Sometime in the mid-2030s.
>>
>>88988763
It's not a battle, the battle to save DC was lost a long time ago. The trunks are a symbol of why that battle was lost.

It's a design upgrade you nostalgiafags.
It looks stupid and always has.

If you want to complain about something being symbolic of a battle lost it ain't a pair of your granny's swim trunks.

A visual upgrade is nothing, especially when you have faggots that want to change that he's from Kansas, and want him to grow up with metrosexual "forward thinking" parents with all black friends.

I voted for Hillary, actually. Not because I like her, but because I hate her slightly less than Donald and we're fucked either way. I do lean slightly more to the left than to the right, though.

But go ahead and just assume I'm a super conservative just because I don't like forced representation for the sake of virtue signaling, at the cost of misrepresenting reality.
>>
>>88989790

Yeah, everyone was just fucking stupid for the past 75 years, only recent have we crawled out of the primordial ooze and evolved to the pinnacle of society where we all can agree that a fictional comic book superhero from an alien planet just simply became too silly when his fashion sense went out of style. Since Superman lost the trunks everything in comicbooks, superhero movies, and society at large has gotten better, because we are all just that more serious and cool now.
>>
>>88989694
If you're going to say that you probably shouldn't post the costume where they figured out it looked weird with no black down there, and thus gave him the big wide, black and yellow belt to solve the problem. Which is what alot of people here have argued they should do with Supes.
>>
>>88986388

The right looks much better; the left always looks grimy. You also need the trunks to break it up; anything else looks like an alt-Superman designed for a future descendant/otherdimensional version of Kal-El (who isn't really Superman so who gives a fuck), pajamas, or a scrub-designed fan-costume.

I don't like Superman with a collar or a coat. It looks too authoritarian compared to the plain, humble get-up. That said, collar+coat can work well in stories about Super-Dictator.

I like the red trunks but Superman's new costume is fine

Wish DC would do "lost stories" of superman. Like they could do "early" adventures of superman before he was married with a kid and have him do Silver age stories
or stories when he was working on TV

(or really early when he was super boy)

>inb4 these stories aren't canon
well they should be.

(not that I dislike Super-Dad. I like the SuperSons so far.)
>>
>>88996787
A defense for that would be that it makes more sense for Batman since he's a highly skilled gymnast and Acrobat and Acrobatic Circus Uniforms usually have trunks.

It doesn't make much sense for Superman from a thematic standpoint. But still, it's not a big deal.
>>
it really differs per design, the designs that purposely try to avoid or get rid of the trunks end up drawing more attention to the lack of trunks which makes it look weird.
