Are you implying that the CGI on the top is better than the CGI on the bottom?

Because it isn't. The lighting is, due to how the shot is frames (which makes this comparison retarded,) but the CGI in the original Iron Man was questionable at times.

God the cuts in this clip are so fucking jarring. It's so obvious that every shot of Renner fighting is against Scarjo's stunt double, but with every shot of Scarjo fighting it's against Renner's double. You can even see Renner's double's face clearly in shots, usually they at least try to cover the face, shot from the back, etc, but they just fucking keep full shots of the stunt double in. This is CW/Arrow tier.

It is, but that's mainly cause they know their formula and play it safe enough. The problem with WB is that they are rushing things. Instead of doing a logical buildup, it's just running head first into the madness.

they realized they didn't have to try anymore. if they had something weird like Iron man and RDJ were in 08 they would have to be creative to get it going. same with GotG which was the last marvel movie that felt like it was trying. >>
>>88968525
holy shit i'm just taking the bait. Are you fucking retarded? It's from Civil War.
>>
>>88968882
Nah, GotG didn't feel like SW. I'm one of the few that never really liked it much. Actually, I didn't care for it because everyone and their fucking mom acted like it was the next Star Wars, the next big space opera. I expected some god-tier worldbuilding, I wanted to be pulled into the universe of cosmic Marvel. I wanted to be awed with a sense of wonder. I got, instead, pretty much your typical 'Rag-tag bunch of misfits band together to save the world' plot, but in space. The universe they showed wasn't even that cool imo.

Anyway, people bitch and complain about some legitimate grievances, like Marvel movies becoming more cookie-cutter (for the most part), a lack of good, memorable music, antagonists being a bit on the generic side and being killed off in each movie, and endless quips, but at least their movies are generally still 'good'. Safe, maybe, but Marvel knows how to strike a balance between making each movie stand on its own while connecting it to the larger universe as a whole. Not only that, but they're generally competent as movies. That's way more than I can say about the DCEU.

>>
>>88968161
>>88969125

Cap's shield is just so ridiculously inconsistent. It reflects beams in Avengers, but doesn't in Civil War.
>>
>>88969415
In the top image: use of depth, camera focus, and framing makes for an interesting image, with the glow of the eyes and Arc reactor against a much darker armor stand out. The environment feels gritty and the explosion is not clean, you can actually see heat hazes with the focus difference. Body language on Iron Man seems tired and dulled, but still cold and human.
Bottom: Colors very muted and unified, meaning nobody really stands out. Realism sure, but not very interesting to see.Every point of interest is on the same line, a very flat, symmetrical and boring "here's the team" moneyshot with nothing really standing out. The largest object onscreen is a plane that doesn't factor into anything and in fact distracts and pulls the eye off of the picture. Body language all around is standing, perhaps trying to make something of an impression which fails completely. Everyone standing the same way does not a dynamic teamshot make.

You're right, but for the wrong reasons. Cap's shield is super inconsistent in the MCU, but your example actually makes sense. In Avengers he angled his shield and himself so the beam would sort of ricochet at a 45 degree angle outward. In CW him and Tony were directly facing each other, no angling, the beam had no where to go but disperse parallel to the shield

I dunno why people use Rotten Tomatoes like it's an objective indicator of quality. Ghostbusters 2016, Force Awakens, Revenge of the Sith and Brave all have positive scores.
>>
>>88967768
Let's put this into perspective

DC movies fall apart because of childish over-excitement by the directors that blows away any chance of making a coherent film, plus shit tons of executive meddling which ruins any semblance of creativity that the director aimed for in the editing room

Marvel movies fall apart because execs are leading the charge and are getting way excited at the possibility of having three box office smash hits that make a billion dollars each per year, plus the directors are just looking to follow the familiar playbook and hope that fans are happy with appearances of favorite characters rather than challenging and engaging films

One suffers from a lack of ability to create a cinematic vision without going overboard plus lots of meddling, the other suffers from the fact that the execs don't "meddle" because they were always guiding the vision and have nobody on the filming end that even wants to make something new

Both are just completely adrift

>Man who doesn't believe in Altruism

"That’s an amazing thought. If one country or person had all of that power, the rest of us would be scared to death of what he might do with it. America has a lot of power now and is forcefully trying to police a world that can’t realistically be beaten into being a better place. So imagine Superman is real and has all the power of a dominant country…and he actually uses it the right way and for the good of mankind. Is that believable? Maybe. Maybe not. Is that kind of integrity common in today’s world? No freaking way. If he were real, Superman the person, would become what Superman the character, is today…A punching bag for the jealous, untrusting, jaded, and unworthy. We wouldn’t even believe him when he said he didn’t want to rule us. We’d doubt him. We’d suspect he was lying. We’d fear and hate him. We’d say he was “full of it” simply because we HAD to believe it. After all, if he’s actually telling the truth and he’s actually that good…what does that make us? That insecurity and mistrust is not his fault. It’s ours."

You really don't get it... Superman is called a boy scout for a reason. He's generally nice and upstanding and tries his very best to be the better man whenever possible. He tries to find the best solutions to problems and minimize the amount of people getting injured. The dude is just really like a guardian angel to the people of Earth, and the hatred comes from the fact that it's hard to understand that someone with all that power would only want to merely protect the Earth instead of ruling it. It's not that he has powers, but how he uses his god-like powers.

Lex Luthor is the pinnacle of all the normies that doesn't get Superman. He refuses to believe that Supes could be that good, that all the power isn't corrupting.
>>
>>88983555
He's fucking invulnerable it's easy to be a boy scout, hey don't shoot that guy, point your gun at me instead... so you can't hurt anyone, literally. Oh my god so heroic.
It's a work of fiction, as is Lex, and Joker, and Batman, why would anyone be bothered by not living up to people that aren't even real.
It's like saying, 'you can't live up to Dumbledore's wisdom because you're a moron.' No it's because he's not real and no one cares.
>>
Marvel movies since 2011 have been product, and just like McDonald's french fries, they aren't particularly good, they just have a lot of salt for people who have grown accustomed to that on their food, and they taste the same whether you get the fries in Singapore, Moscow, Cleveland or Sao Paulo.

People like the consistency and conformity. The MCU is the McDonald's french fries of popcorn movies.

Other anons are right. Marvel movies are a manufactured product. Producers just want to make money and the best way to do it is to choose the safest option. Will the next film say something meaningful, interesting and actually stay with you? I don't think so.

While we're on the subject of visuals, I really think DC needs to start bringing their A game. Themyscira from what we've seen in the trailers for example, leaves much to be desired. So far all we've seen is beaches and caves, no towering greek temples that bring to mind a utopia. Granted its a trailer and theres much more to see, but its odd that they wouldnt want to market a mythical paradise to bring contrast to the WW1 conflict thats happening. The same could be said with Atlantis, which will be some time before we see but its another location WB needs to create. Im also disappointed on how they dropped the ball differentiating between Gotham and Metropolis, which is for some reason separated by a fucking bay but I digress. Metropolis is supposed to look like the city of tomorrow, a place of industry and progress, while Gotham is supposed to look old and depressing like Detroit mixed with Chicago

Evil (or really more the absence of "good") and conflict are very often borne more from fear and paranoia than anything else. Even the most egomaniacal ambitions are fueled at their heart by fears of one's own mortality, the threats the world poses, etc. and so on.

Superman has very little to fear, and so he remains un-corrupted. He is not only invulnerable, but also ultimately above the human world, metaphorically and literally; the most distilled manifestation of a Nietzchean ubermensch. He can be an ultimate good only because of his power and will to be what he sees as good, just as others fear that he can also be their ultimate evil by virtue of being above good and evil.

All the great Marvel artists would agree that the MCU is a bland, soulless sham.

Can Marvel supporters really defend their choice of filmmakers, as risk-taking artists or even simply talented at making exciting action set pieces or memorable characters? Of course not. It really isn't surprising, considering most of them come from bottom-of-the-barrel Apatow-tier comedies or TV sitcoms.

Notice how the good/interesting capeshit filmmakers come from deeply visual genres (Raimi, Del Toro from horror, Burton and Bird from animation). They also seem to have a genuine love for the material, as it was part of the counter-culture when they grew up.

People like Nolan or Singer who come from solid neo-noir thrillers; while not visionary or creative have at the very least an elegant style of filmmaking and try to tell thematically meaningful stories, treat their characters/universes seriously and the audiences with respect.

None of that is reflected in soulless Disney Marvel movies. It's all an assembly-line production where "fun" (read:quips and awful CGI) is supposed to replace geniune filmmaking. How can anyone defend this travesty?

Because they're allowed to show gore, swear, and BIG BLACK TIDDIES. Seriously I hadnt been interested in watching any of the Marvel Netflix shows because of how boring I found the MCU movies and Agents of Shield, but the HEAVING NUBIAN BREASTS in the first episode of this let me know things would be different.

He's the reason why the airport fight looked like a made-for-tv episode.

Apparently they shot most of the airport battle at an actual airport, but at that point Marvel hadn't yet closed the Spider-Man deal with Sony. So once they got the thumbs up to include him, they had to reshoot a big part of it in front of a green screen in the Atlanta set, so I guess that explains the GCI being so obviously rushed and sloppy for a blockbuster. They also decided to change Spider-Man's costume in post, which is why he's entirely CGI is a lot of shots during the fight.

> They literally had to CG whole scenes in that airport fight to fit Spidey in, stuff they filmed live action had to be ditched, plate shots had to be binned.

> Sony dragged out the deal to fuck with Marvel as much as possible.

It's sobering to remember that had Spidey been with Marvel Studios from the start, we'd probably have never got Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man.
