The whole scene was meant to show Jaune's trust in Ren. It wasn't a goodbye see yah but Jaune basically telling Ren "I trust you" because Ren and subsequently Nora's insistence in heading to the mountains wouldn't have led to Qrow's survival which should be the priority.

That's because Qrow and Ruby have near opposite personalities. They're both carefree, but Ruby is much more optimistic and impulsive. She doesn't think too much on her actions and doesn't let the weight of them bring down her motivation. Heck, Qrow being poisoned was majorly her fault, but she didn't mope about it and only focused on the mission.

Unlike Ruby, Qrow lived a life a misery his whole life. Seeing the tribe he was born in, his team falling apart because his sister became a radical of said tribe, and the fact his experience forced him into the role of the show's Batman... i'd be miserable too.

I highly doubt RWBY will end up like STRQ, but there is a possibility they may split apart and go solo for a while. Especially Ruby.
