A waifu is nothing but a crutch for a show. If you can't get me interested without flashing a pair of tits, or a whore in my face, then your show has failed miserably.

Take Megas XLR for instance. Coop and Jamie have been proven to carry entire episodes by themselves, so Kiva isn't the anchor point that makes people want to watch it. Infact, she's kind of a minor character in comparison to the giant robots and jersey life style that mix together.

Compare that to shows like Steven Universe, where every episode needs a fat androgynous brown waifu who cries about her feelings for 11 minutes. Or Adventure Time, where Finn stopped being the main character so we could have lesbian princess adventures with asshole vampire and bubblegum hitler, who can't pull a show off by themselves due to having the personality of cardboard.

I can't really recall any actual /co/ stories. Best I got is The Will and The Stalk and that gets shut down as soon as it's introduced. I try to keep an eye out for this sort of stuff, but nothing's coming to mind at the moment. Might just be tired.

Some people have drawn some cute looking Rule 63 Beauty and the Beast. It's a shame no one's ever done anything with it, since there's a good opportunity for interesting dynamics there with rather inhuman looking women. I think some X-Men stories went that way, but I've never been a big X-Men reader so I couldn't point to one specifically. I think there was a girl was just a brain in a jar?
