Has there been a comic with sci-fi concepts in them but based on theoretical science, like string theories? like normal sci-fi but with plausible theories instead of pseudoscience? I'd like to see Mr. Fantastic deal with String Theory or something. crazy sci/fi comics thread??
that would require a comic book writer to have even a basic understanding of theoretical physics

The time travel stuff in the Invisibles was really grounded, despite the LSD-chaos-magik-astral-self delirium surrounding it

Very few writers are willing to put in the amount of research it takes to do that. I know guys like Morrison, Ellis, and Hickman put in the time, but that's about it. It's the kind of stuff they're into when they're not writing comics.

There's good stuff to be found in a lot of Warren Ellis's work, specifically:
Planetary
Transmetropolitan
Anna Mercury
Doktor Sleepless
Desolation Jones
Aetheric Mechanics
some of the Apparat stuff
Global Frequency
