What is his problem?
>>
>>88938764
He was crowned king of the obnoxious hipsters and feels the need to remind everyone.
>>
>>88938764
He loves the stories and doesn't like to see them shat on by moneygrubbing idiots.
>>
Purity of purpose and ferocious devotion to artistic ideals.

Not really a problem imo.
>>
He's a contrarian
>>
>>88939169
> Not really a problem imo.
In his youth it was a problem for his artists. He cost Ian Gibson and Alan Davis work/money with his disputes with 2000AD and Marvel editorial over Halo Jones and Captain Britain

He chilled out after DC, even staying with Wildstorm after Lee sold it to DC because he promised work to his artists. He even wrote Black Dossier just so Kevin O'Neill would have work to do while Moore figured out LOEG volume 3

Not enough rape on the comics
>>
>>88938764

Reminder that DC has tried to make amends for him but he'd rather still be worshiping his bundle of sticks/bitch & moan about Margarete Thatcher in 2017.
>>
He keeps burning bridges for petty reasons. He severed his friendship with Dave Gibbons over those Watchmen prequel comics.
>>
>>88938764
He's still bitter about all the assassination attempts done against him right after the Czar and his family were killed.
>>
>>88938764
He's a literal cuck.

I still want to know what Stephen Bissette said about him in that interview that made him burn bridges with Bissette. The whole 1963 behind-the-stage story sounded rather sad.
>>
>>88941777
I can't believe I can't find scans of that comic.
>>
>>88940582
DC violated the contract (selling merchandise without paying royalties).

The only way to "make amends" is to give him the intellectual property rights like they should have done years ago.
>>
>>88943991
I'm not sure exactly. I know there were some things that came up in that interview. Bissette implied that Moore tended to have blinders while in a business relationship, and in a way unintentionally implied that Moore didn't do much work in the making of 1963 (Bissette mentioned that he and Veitch had to manage the business affairs of making that book, and said that it seemed like Moore was turning into "Affable Al" at that time). There was also the implication by Bissette that Moore abandoned them on the 1963 Annual even though they helped build a bridge for him to get to Image. (which falls back to the "Affable Al" criticism) But keep in mind, while he was critical of Moore at points in the interview he also praised him a lot.

Also in case you haven't read 1963, remember that Affable Al was a persona Moore came up with to lampoon Stan Lee and how he's seen as someone who got his job via an in-law and taking credit for things that the artists contributed.

Have you ever actually listened to the guy talk about any subject? He's actually a super chill slightly sad guy that tries to do his best for his community. DC fucked him over, he got sick of comics and now he's just doing his own thing.

I don't see what the big deal is, has Alan Moore actually done ANYTHING to get the hate I keep seeing?
>>
>>88945982
People get really pissed about him saying cape comics are meant for children. And there's the Morrison thing about him having too much rape in his books.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktbE3VeFPTo a really interesting listen about moore. Just a chill, down to earth chat he has at a local convention that he went to despite not doing cons anymore (because they asked nicely and they're local). Including about how he turned down the paycheque for the watchmen movie, THEN it made CRAZY money and they offered him the money again and he turned it down because otherwise he'd be a hypocrite.

Holy fucking balls the man has integrity. I can see why half of comics gets mad when someone like him takes a stand and actually fucking stays standing instead of buckling at the first taste of money like the rest of them.
>>
>>88938764
He's a brilliant man in a world of small-minded catamites.
>>
Does he hate Morrison. They are one of the Last western wizards, that would sucks. It would be like pandas in a zoo and we are the staff.
>>
>>88945982
>has moore done anything to get the hate

no

>>88946082
cape comics, especially the "patriotic" ones ARE meant for children... from the 40s and 50s.
>>
>>88947223
It's kinda of lame because I like cape stuff so when this dude Alan says they're for widdle kiddie babies it makes me feel a lil bad-aroonie, you feel me, man?
I still like Moore, though
>>
>>88946135
Oh Wendy. We love you.
>>
>>88947280
yeah, i like moon knight, but i like him because he's a psycho

i like x-men, because they're science fiction and they're an oppressed minority from the 60s and showed diversity within their ranks

captain america, superman, and batman are all from the 1940s and shit. they're outmoded, outdated, rehashed boring schlock. how many "epic" universe events are they putting the characters through now? "civil war", "infinite crisis" "hypercrisis" etc
>>
>>88947280

also, see
>>88944141
>>
>>88947280
I like cape comics too, I just know they're mostly trash. And that's fine, I love me some good trash.

I'm aware that people like Seth or Chris Ware make art comics, they're just not my cup of tea. I'd rather read Walt Simonson.
>>
>>88944168
Looking for this?
>>
>>
>>88947533
that didn't tell me anything tho
>>
>>88947777
*sigh*

by reading conversations and what other people say you can glean and infer different perspectives.

for instance one anon said the following:
"Arent capeshit movies popular over there? The boring answer is that long running western comics are notoriously difficult to get into for outsiders. Japan is used to a work drawn and written by one individual (or a small competent group) with a focus on consistency, telling one linear story. Comics are a clusterfuck. Character personality and even backstory vary depending on the writers whims. Progress is ret conned, art is anything but consistent, and though there's technically a point of origin for each character and story, you have to read about a thousand other comics released over the span of 50 years to get there."
>>
>>88947811
So is that why cape comics are for children? I don't follow.
>>
>>88947410
This is what Moore complains about.
>>
>>88938764
He totally regrets not posing nude for a cover of Promethea
>>
>>88947694

>>88947840
because to use such a protagonist oversimplifies the world they live in. let's use batman and superman as examples

batman is a rich man who beats criminals. when super criminals are sent to an asylum, they always somehow "manage" to escape. in the real world, if super criminals were sent to prison, there's be a power vacuum left that gangs would murder each other for. and when super criminals get back out of the asylum, they would kill the gangs that exist in order to take power in their small part of gotham

rather than change the economic policies of gotham to diminish poverty, which is what fosters violent crime, bruce wayne gives to charity, and this solves nothing. instead, we have readers who want to identify with batman as a rich millionaire that can only fix crime by beating individuals instead of changing the system that has clearly failed

superman is an inexplicably human looking alien that could be argued is simply a character that feeds in to some people's god complex. superman's powers are close to arbitrary. he can do anything and "does what's right" because it's the "american way" because he was also raised in rural america. his main villain, lex luthor, is a rich businessman but superman is ill equipped to change economic disparity. he's an abrahamic goody two shoes

many capeshit characters were created to showcase american exceptionalism. when faced with reality with a left wing bias, they look vanilla and mentally weak
>>
>>88948068
>when faced with reality with a left wing bias

So what is reality now? A right wing bias?
>>
>>88948020
Oh, no, a bunch of shitty atheist memes
>>
>>88948020
I agree that Batman is totally retarded and, essentially, unsalvageable
But I think Superman has the potential to work
>>
>>88948082
reality has always had a left wing bias.

even in nature there is cooperation within like species and amongst different species. the planet is polluted now, there's plastic all in the ocean, there's something called the "Pacific garbage patch", the water table is contaminated, fracking is allowed in certain countries which leads to poisoning people's water supplies, and capitalists in the energy sector refuse to follow through with their own principles and diversify. an economic system centuries old is still being used in the 21st century and people refuse to understand that economics is a social science. capitalism fails to account for manufactured scarcity, planned obsolescence and externalities.

ideologies are right wing. leftists use dialectic materialism. many of the capes are ideological. they're stories that want to based the characters' actions on morality but have yet to deal with class consciousness. NONE of the "popular" characters in major powered hero teams that i can think of come from low income backgrounds.
>>
>>88948082
Anon was implying literally the opposite by explicitly saying it.
>>
He just hates hacks.
>>
>>88948167

yeah. he can take bullet fire and explosions and heavy things falling on him and being punched by darkseid. the only time he's destroyed is to make it "epic" so they can bring him back once or twice to make it seem "miraculous"

It is completely feasible to fix MOST the worlds problems. We have the internet, we can build up technology, we can educate the world.

Many of the mainstream heroes in comics today are still responding to a perspective or moral impetus from a century ago.
