Anyone remember this?
https://youtu.be/jYLL2RDmi9c
Yes. Never actually watched it but I may have if I had realized it was based on the miniseries.
>>88936770
I remember the show. It was on Discovery Kids. Good show.
>>88936770
I know it was based on the BBC series about the future animals that was based on a book by Dougal Dixon. Wasn´t the plot about finding a place in time for future humans to colonize Terranova style?

>>88938777
Pretty much. I actually learned about the documentary after the show, so that was a surprise.
Yeah.
The squid was cute and the G/T episodes were top notch fetish bait.
>>88936770
Surprisingly, yes, I liked it
>>88936770
it was a very good show, i dont recall if it ended or not
>>88936770
The orginial was fucking godtier
>>88938777
I remember watching this series when it came out. I'm convinced someone working on this had some kind of hard on for squids. I remember the final episode basically saying squids would be the next thing to takeover or something.
>>88939934
They are highly intelligent animals, at least for their group. And they are able to move around on both land and in water. If the conditions are favorable, it's not unreasonable to think that they might be able to take over a big number of niches if they are left open.
Speculative documentaries are fun.
>>88936770
They never found a habitat for future humans
Wasn't there a spider colony that farmed mice?
>>88936770
I remembered this show, I loved it.
>>88936770
>can create time travel and fuck with creatures as far into the future as we are compared to the dinosaurs
>doesnt just teraform earth or go to another planet and terform that planet
OF COURSE!
>>88940238
Yeah, it was pretty cool
>>88940238
They were more like gerbils, and they were the last species of mammel in all of exsistance
>>88940273
The plot was an excuse to show speculative evolution
>>88940319
Did they aver give a reason as to why mammals went extinct, when they are some of the most highly adaptable animal groups?
>>88940367
The Earth was getting more humid and warm
>>88940331
But they couldve come up with a better explanation. A mad zoologist with a time machine hellbent on fucking every future creature he can find couldve sufficed.
>>88940367
>>88940418
I think it was a combination of enviromental factors and their niches were being over taken by more capable creatures. If i recall primates were the first to go, then dogs. Naturally (and also ironically), the last kind of mammal to die off was also the first to evolve in the first place: rodents.
>>88940471
Kids are more appealing to kids
Their feet were too fucking small
Oh snap, is this on Netfliz or something?
This and Grossology used to be my jam.
>>88939934
>>88940002
The first time I saw on the internet that splatoon taked place on a post-human future where squids evolved into the dominant species, that documentary was the fist think that came to my mind.
I know it just a coincidence since the original idea was to use bunnies as the playable characters but I like to think that the future is wild is a prequel to the videogame.
>>88940081
Was that a book by the same author, I remember the documentary on discovery. My favorite animal was the giant ameba the size of a ocean.
>>88940202
Why? did they cancel the series before it ended?
The documentary miniseries was so fucking cool
I burned the absolute shit out of my ankle with burning trash and watching that was my only consolation
I wanted one of the hopping snails as a pet
The animated show I think I saw an episode or two of. I recall there was some grill from the future or past as a time traveler and and they had a squibbon as an animal sidekick
Bump with some /co/ntent.

What is this?
>>88944316
Some weird CGI short meant for IMAX.
>>88936770
That was an actual show? I legit thought it was some weird dream I had because I only watched it once in vacation in between bouts of vomiting my guts out because undercooked seafood
Anyone?

They were using bunnies in the very early stages of the game, I doubt they didn't even had a single player mode planned at that point, let alone any lore. I'm sure the post apocalypse lore was thought off after they made the switch to squids, probably with the devs shooting the shit with questions like "ok so we went for squids because paint -> ink -> squids shoot inks, but why are there anthropomorphic squids walking around not!Shibuya?" and one guy went https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk7IDVzLiQo

What does Dougal Dixon do these days?
His speculative biology books are fun and creative but are heavily flawed in today's world of modern science
>>88948575
How realistic were these evolutions?
>>88949775
Not really
It's all speculation
>Man after Man will never be adapted to be a speculative documentary
With the right CG it could be horrifying.
The whole book is just plain unsettling.
>>88950006
Jesus what the fuck are those things? Would they be too big to exist in land anyways?
>>88950079
Man after Man ignores traditional evolution laws in favor of something bleaker.
Humanity starts messing with their genetics creating bizarre beings like fish people and pic related. Earth starts getting fucked up so the people who are tech savvy (called the Hitek who are augmented by technology) leave the planet leaving everyone else behind. The normal humans become extinct and the altered humans become barbaric and evolve on their own. Millions of years later, the descendants of the Hitek come back to Earth and they basically don't even look human anymore (think of it like a fucked up version of Wall-E).
What I posted back then is an example of their artificially made beasts meant to do labor and wipe out life on the new Earth. The book ends with the Hitek's ancestors slaughtering everyone until the narrator reveals that the aquatic humanoids have been secretly evolving this whole time and may take back the Earth.
Be glad I didn't post the tic or Engineered Food Creatures.
>>88950225
This is the descendant of a Hitek.
This is what mechanically augmented humans become.
>>88950225
That's actually kinda fucked up the creepy surreal imagery doesn't help either it's like something out of Fantastic Planet
>>88950257
What the fuck?
>>88950294
Millions of years and lack of morals Anon.
Dougal Dixon didn't want the book to be like this.
He just wanted a book about time travelers showing up in After Earth to fuck shit up but the publishers/executives/some sort of authority wanted something different.
>Engineered Food Creature: Engineered by the star travelers, engineered the Host into "mounds of fat and flesh, fed by chemical nutrients." Small machines remove chunks of meat, tissue and body fat while the Food Creature is still alive.
>>88950408
*After Man
>>88941002
Grossology surprisingly wasn't even that gross
>>88948303
Engineered food creature?
What's freakier? Man after Man or All Tomorrows?
>>88942670
No, Expedition/Alien Planet was by Wayne Barlowe.
After Man/Future is Wild was by Dougal Dixon
>>88951417
The artwork is definitively more freaky.
>>88951417
All Tomorrows had that disturbing thing withthe human bricks that did nothing but being aware of everything and fucking as the aliens personal bitches. There was also that kind of people who lived in non gravity spheres in space and floated around by shooting out gas out of their modified anuses. Something about that freaked me out
