This was the only lion king sequel that was watchable. It might be the only Disney sequel that was watchable. I think it's because it had little to do with the original plot and instead explored a different perspective.

Its concept is just taken straight from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

Also Rescuers Down Under is technically the best and most entertaining Disney sequel, though it's understandable when it's not counted in a discussion of Disney sequels because it's the only one actually in the Disney canon.

The Lion King is basically Hamlet with Lions. It's pretty good in-joke and actually good for that era's Disney cheapquels (Both of the cheapquills were so much better quality than the others they put them in the anniversary collection)
