I would imagine that Galra naturally have heightened senses, so when one is a Paladin or a destined one, their senses get paired with the innate connection to the Lions and they can use that to track down Lions.

I know Lance bitches at him cause he's jealous of Keith's piloting skills. Lance is also the most friendly of the group and most likely to get in someone's face about anything. I get the feeling Keith wants to be better friends with everyone but opens up a little more to Lance because he's the one to actually get Keith involved in something. With his behavior problems at Garrison it probably means he was always slightly awkward. He doesn't bond as much with Pidge or Hunk because they're techies and ALWAYS working on something. Pidge is either doing mechanical work or working for her family. Hunk is mechanical work or cooking. He knows Shiro from before. And then basically all Lance has to do is help out someone else or train. So to me it makes sense that Keith would show a little more personality around Lance, especially considering Lance hadn't even met Pidge yet, but was making plans for "bonding experiences".

Basically Keith and whoever else is with him found some survivors who are either galrans or some other alien race. Allura is clearly not happy about the new aliens as we saw from the first trailer where she frowns at one of them standing up from a kneeling position.
This takes me back to when the creators said that Keith and Allura will have a strong emotional moment.
Allura wants nothing to do with the aliens because they were either from a pro-galran force or betrayed the alteans in the past.
Keith will have a leadership moment where he tells her that Voltron helps those in need or some something similar

I honestly think it should be the Red Lion. Zarkon had it stored on Sendak's ship for who knows how long. If Zarkon or Haggar have no way of tracking it on their own, they'd be a fool not to install some kind of tracker they can rely on just to be safe. It'd confirm Lance's "I bet it's Keith's fault somehow" foreshadowing line.

Haggar was also able to track that first Robeast all across the universe with that antenna from the Robeast's ship.

Then Shiro can grab the Red Lion when he finds out and fly off by himself, leaving Keith to pilot the Black Lion. And then Shiro can drop his "If I don't make it out of here" line in there somewhere.

I also believe a scheming Lotor would do everything in his power to never attract any more suspicion from Allura or Coran than he would already have by virtue of being Galran. Not to say Keith isn't Galra, but Keith's dagger, the blade part, does not resemble the freedom fighters' dagger/swords. The hilt is the mystery.

Think about it, the black paladins all have galra in common with them.
Zarkon is galra, Keith is part, and Shiro had a galra arm.
Zarkon knew he had a son before we turned crazy, but after he turned crazy he never thought of the son again. This would make sense and kill the "Lotor couldn't defeat Zarkon during the 10,000 centuries" theories because for one, it makes no sense, and two, It's easier for the audience to digest.
This show is also aimed at kids no matter how much they say "it's for the old fans" a character like Lotor will not be tolerated in this day and age.

TLDR; Keith is Lotor, they're making him part galra for a reason.
