Superman and Batman were feelings emotions so strong for each other that their tension drew some alien parasites off-planet to them. The only time Superman and Wonder Woman were a true couple in the main continuity was during The New 52 and even then... pic related.

Even in their aborted date in the pre-Nu52 continuity, which happened in the now famous Action Comics #600 issue, you had Wonder Woman thinking of Superman as if he was a god and feeling disappointed afterwards that he was too humble and an "enforcer of Man's World's rules".

It was the first commemorative big issue Action Comics had after the '86 reboot and also marked the first genuine attempt to pair Superman and Wonder Woman and pave the way for Superman and Lois Lane to eventually hook up down the line.

The entire issue is cool. Other than the SM/WW story, which was handled in a very respectful manner for both characters - although i don't like much the idea that WW would be mostly attracted by Superman's godlike abilities - there are various other stories that are interesting.

I love both SM and WW very much as characters and in theory they should make a good couple, since they're great characters, but unfortunately other than their obvious similarities not a single writer, in my opinion, have yet managed to create a good chemistry between them.

The biggest problem is that they use Wonder Woman mostly to create conflict between either Superman and Clark Kent or Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane.
What can you explore with Wonder Woman, as a romantic interest for Superman, that you can't with Lois Lane? In DC's opinion is the fact that she's a princess that lived almost her entire life secluded in a paradise filled immoral and super-powered female warriors, and thus is a bit vain, ruthless and completely disconnected from humanity's struggles and the world's affairs.
So she's mostly used to represent the possible or either outright death of Superman's humanity. She doesn't call Superman by Kal for nothing, instead of the commonly Clark or Kent. So she's used to remind Superman that he is... Superman and can maybe achieve much more by fully embracing that than separating his time being a super-hero and being just Clark Kent. That's the inner-struggle that she brings to Superman stories. That and his struggle to remain faithful to Lois Lane, like in some stories during the late 90's and early 2000's.

And man, that simple isn't a good take for a couple in case you want to root for them to be together. It makes both Superman and Wonder Woman look bad. It's basically a cautionary tale.
