I think the problem with SU is that unlike a lot of other shows, once it started getting plot heavy it just went back to slice of life stuff. Most shows would air something like Jailbreak and then go full on plot for the rest of the show (with cool down episodes occasionally), but SU almost immediately went back to townie stuff.

Sugar's got a really expressive loose gestural art style and great shading that fleshes it out. Also I have a soft spot for her compositions. They were all very simplistic when they started out but she constantly seems to experiment with different instruments (like a theremin) and using odder uncommon chords.


Ian's got a nice style and a funny enough sense of humor. That said OK K.O. seems a little...derivative? I certainly hope it'll be a good series but honestly as far as Ian JQ's work so far has been OK K.O. seems a bit like more of the same Regular Show/Adventure Time-y cutesy retro throwback series.

Look, I know it's hard to understand, but truthfully people who make it "big" as an artist are extremely rare to the point where they rake in millions every week, and in Rebecca's case she isn't that. If she's making a lot of money she'll be making 125k annually as a director. That's if she's making a lot. The typical helicopter pilot makes close to that at 110k annuanual, which puts them ahead of every single storyboard artist in cartoonetwork. If you learn some good skills in your life and don't get bogged down with liberal art nonsense you're guaranteed to be more successful than mostly anyone who calls himself an artist.

I think Sugar's way better as a creative lead (both artwise and writing wise) than Alex Hirsh, who is a clever writer with some good ideas but desperately needs a Dan Harmon to his Justin Roiland to reign him in and keep him focused.

If somewhere down the line Sugar got a spot on [as] or Netflix working with a competent studio like Titmouse that would actually let her run wild creatively, I would watch that in a heartbeat.

Her art (as in, her actual art and storyboards a la >>88913090 and >>88907919, not the watered down crap that was butchered by the other storyboarders, badly adapted by the cheap Korean sweatshops they hire, and stuck up on TV for mass viewing) is ugly, sure, but it's expressive, with a distinctive style and personality to it. She worked hard and put in a lot of effort to eventually get her own show, once she got that show she had to put in a lot of time and effort to manage it (lord knows running a show isn't an easy job), she's a fairly decent writer and artist, and on top of that she genuinely a stand up kind of gal, remember when tumblr was attack people for drawing Rose too thin or making white edits of characters and the only response the crew gave was "yo, fucking cool it, people are free to draw whatever they want."

Look, anonshitposting mode off a minute and I will say this: I can't do better. I admit that. There's no fucking way I can draw anything that people would say is better. I will never pitch an idea people will say is better than anything she pitches. I know what I am capable of and I accept that I am incapable of making something like this.

She however has clear skill, and she does things like this It's art that may be distinctive and unique but that's not always a good thing. Objectively speaking I find it an ugly and unappealing style, relying on deformed shapes. It feels like a waste.

And then add that the basic story of the comic is just two guys, they simpsons bros, one is now quadrospazzed on a life-glug but he still quotes simpsons. Apart from narration boxes this is all quotes. It comes off as cheap, and lazy, and merged with the wasteful art it's just overall a no.

Ian is alright but I don't know much about him, never read RPG World.

With Rebecca I absolutely adored her work on Adventure Time, she really brought lots of good ideas to the table and I still miss her versions of the characters. In terms of Steven Universe I like it well enough but I never fell in love with it and feel like I'm losing interest over time. Still a neat show though and if Becky does other stuff I'll probably be interested.

I have a few hang-ups about doing more than 50% fanart to get followings, the biggest one is the huge drop-off when you post original art. It's strange. Her and her crew are able to make genuinely interesting characters and portray the message of non-gender bias adequately, yet at times they screw it all up by going so far in left field with the message it almost becomes mean-spirited like they're rubbing it in your face.

A majority of the songs suck, but when they get it right, damn do they get it right.

They handled the whole thing with that girl who got bullied for drawing Rose Quartz in a way the SJWs didn't approve appropriately, by saying "We believe people can make what artwork they want, and censoring them is wrong." It was so level-headed, it actually resulted in repulsive backlash. It must suck having such a cancerous fanbase like this.

They otherwise seem like decent entertaining masters of their craft.

You do not need to do fanart to get a following, do your own thing and do it well. You will not have a following over night but over time it will appear. Personally, it is better to produce original work then to do constant fanart everyday . People who only do fanart, their creativity is most likely lack luster. Like the drawings themselves might be really good but still be shitty because the character is not an original idea. Especially people who profit from fanart sometimes labeling them "tributes". You can do fanart nothing wrong with drawing your favorite anime charger or whatever. Just don't let that be the focus. At the end of the day your original work is what will be remembered. Just be original and you will go further.

Now he is dating Rebecca Sugar, who was very supportive of his choice, and even went out of her way to get him hired on at Cartoon Network using the connections she gained from Adventure Time.

Ian is supposedly getting his own show green-lit soon (OK KO) and as for his old "best friend" Jim, who he partnered with on Nock Force...

Well, uh, Jim does movie reviews on Youtube in his free time and got married, so that's cool. Problem is that he has to work two full time jobs, seeing as Ian literally stole all the money Jim had that he put towards Nock Force and RAN with it, without warning.

Oh, and Jim also freelances scripts, and video editing for other Youtubers, and also is featured as a host on the bi-weekly cartoon podcast, The Pizza Part Podcast.
