They just excuse it by claim that Nixon's southern strategy meant all the racists jumped ship to the Republicans absolving them of guilt.
In truth the Southern Strategy targeted the South's liberal urban population, while the rural rednecks kept on voting Democrat right up to the present day.

Why do political cartoons make Germany look based?
A lot of these are propaganda, not political cartoons
>>88897022
>Implying that's not the same thing
>>88897121
A political cartoon is published in a newspaper or magazine in order to criticize or satirize
A propaganda piece is commissioned by the government for the purpose of shaping public opinion
>>88897156
>newspapers can't try to sway public opinion with their own propaganda

Lincoln was a typical racist Republican, taking jobs away from black people and separating them from their white Democrat coinhabitants, who openly employed them, fed them, and gave them free housing by the way.
>>88894416
Fun Fact, given how you interpret the secession of the South, Lincoln is either a warmonger or guilty of high treason.
>>88898817
there isn't really much to interpret about the Southern states' secession, it was explicitly about slavery

>>88895627
Vintage Shitpost
>>88898853
Actually I was referring to if you think the South actually separated into a new country, or if they were just rebelling against the federal government.
If the confederacy was an actual separate country then Lincoln instigated war by keeping his troops in a foreign country until said country tried to run them out.
If they were still a part of the Union, then Lincoln waged war against the states, which is exactly what the constitution defines as treason.
>>88898817
>>88898912
>>88895953
Most modern liberals don't even know that history, including which party Lincoln and the first black activists were with, thanks to common core indoctrination.

I'm not going to get into a /pol/ argument with you on /co/ as it's liable to get us both banned, but while Rhodes might have gotten rich off diamonds but he put his country and civilising mission above everything. A lot of great men (even ones you consider great, I'd wager) fight wars and leave deaths in their wake, it's one of the things that comes with leadership decisions and responsibilities. Everything he did he did for something greater than himself, the betterment of his country and his people, which makes him an admirable man in my book and no-one is going to convince me otherwise.

There are open letters and transcribed speeches from secessionist legislatures and politicians about how slavery couldn't survive much longer in the United States and that is why the South must leave it.
>>88896106
>how is that relevant to modern politics though.
Because nothing changed
>>88902711
sure, that's why every Southern state's declaration of secession didn't mention impending national abolition as one of the primary reasons for seceding, and why slavery wasn't a major theme of the Constitution of the Confederacy
oh wait
also all the states above the Mason-Dixon line i.e. the North had abolished slavery by 1804, it's just that not every Southern state joined the Confederacy
