I've watched all the Rugrats episodes.

90% is pure shit.

Only the first two seasons are good quality, when it was a family show .

Every season after that was terrible (sans half of Seasons 5 not being bad) as the commercial success of show made it into a safe, boring show instead of being a show ABOUT babies slowly turned it into a show aimed AT babies.

It really is a stark contrast if you look at the early episodes compared to the later ones.

I remember an early episode they had all the babies climb on top of each other to get something from a high shelf, it's the focal point of action of a scene, and as a kid watching you don't really think about it much, but it's directed with adults in mind. It's framed so that anyone who's conscious about how fragile babies are (adults), are put on edge seeing them do shit that would get them killed if things go wrong. And this theme is carried in other early episodes like when Tommy gets gravely ill, or almost gets mauled by the neighbor dog, kidnapped or gets into a restaurant kitchen with lots of objects that could kill a baby.

Contrast with later seasons where they still do stupid shit that theoretically could/should get them hurt, but all the framing is gone, deliberately. Now they're just ~adventure babies~, nothing of interest to viewers older than preschoolers.

Gravity Falls should have been a little longer. Don't think I want it specifically to come back (not unless they do something like "Gravity Falls: The Lost Episodes", but I wouldn't mind seeing some of the characters again. Something about the last episode make me feel incomplete.

I swear, nostalgia is going to be Nickelodeon's downfall. It makes them money now, sure, but think about later. If they're too preoccupied by nostalgia to make new shows, they won't have any new IP's to fall back on after the nostalgia inevitably runs out. When everything from the past concludes, they'll have nothing for the future, effectively destroying themselves from their own greedy, corporate inner circle.

Say what you will about CN's scheduling problems (which is still shit), but I'd say that Nickelodeon's problem with forward thinking is much more destructive in the long run.
