For a guy in his 30s, I think he writes 16 year old girl characters better than a lot of other writers do. A lot of them tend to fall into the "how do you do fellow kids" pit, like Waid.

That said, I never was a fan of Supergirl and reading his first 2 issues didn't change my mind. He shines when he's writing characters that are more in the D-list category and he's great at action and putting in a lot of obscure characters/references to old comics. He's too restricted on a B-list synergy book like Supergirl.
