IMHO, the tweets are a perfect summary of what's wrong with this book. A look at "real world problems" that's shallow and ignorant, that ignores any hint of controversy or darkness, that is aimed at other shallow people who tweet a lot.

This issue was a missed opportunity. They could have explored Atlantis' role in the world, how the people of Atlantis are reacting to Namor dying and then coming back, the aftermath of Atlantis getting blown up twice in Infinity. The Champions spouted a lot of bullshit about "we're going to be different". Here was yet another chance. They treated the Atlanteans as just another set of disposable mooks. Was the ship's crew ok after the team let all the water out and then flew off? Who knows? The Champions sure don't. If the Champions were smart they would have calmly gone to trial and used it as a platform to speak to Atlantean authority figures. They would have had a chance to do....something instead of the usual "talking is hard, let's kick ass and leave".

Every single issue Waid proves that this book's premise was fatally flawed from the beginning. It was never going to work without some serious writing talent......talent that Waid does not have.

I think one of the biggest problems with this book is that each issue they tackle a different problem. If you want to make a comic about "Avengers who do more than punch problems" you need to do a full arc showing the characters trying to help, not just having them fly in, make a quick fix and leave.
The fucking book is tone deaf. I'd say Waid was doing this intentionally, but it really reads like he's being sincere. Unless this is all a bait-and-switch and the climax of this book is the Champions realizing that they've accomplished basically nothing and all the problems they "fixed" return in full force.

That shouldn't actually do much to move the water. It seems like it would be like if you took a very long pipe and just kept putting more and more of it into the water, but without it being used as a paddle or doing anything to actually push back against the plane. It's just displacing some water, which shouldn't give that much of a boost to the plane's speed. Without any recoil from Cyclops optic blasts, there's no force pushing back on him or the plane specifically.

It's really just another example of writers either not understanding physics and/or the specifics of how these characters' powers work, like Whitley treating Ms. Marvel like she's Mr Fantastic or Plastic Man in Wasp.
