I'm starting to wonder if a viable plot twist might be WD being the one who shattered PD, or at least arranged it, and Rose's values that led to the formation of the crystal gems being instilled in her by a compassionate PD who just didn't really 'get' humans but wanted to keep them, and still valued all forms of life while doing her duty as a diamond.

YD and BD are both emotional and grieving, though BD is melancholic and YD is haughty and angry they both cared for her. Perhaps it's part of a larger ploy by WD to assume control of the gem empire by taking out the most threatening of her peers and blaming it on her subordinates? Maybe somewhere down the line YD and BD could become temporary allies with the crystal gems.

It woudn't be smart of her to pretend like she didn't understand the first part because even excusing not knowing what a "dad" is why would she shrug off steven saying "dad! that's him" after she mentioned greg and his condition. Even allowing that she doesn't know what a "dad" is she should at least understand that "That's him" means and have questioned it if she understood. Because of Rose, there's this huge stigma on all Earth-made gems, and she'd had to fight every second to prove herself and overcome it and earn a right to stay in service. She's probably gotten sent to some pretty bad missions, too, because HW would rather sacrifice one of the gems with the twisted, traitorous Earth soil at their core than one from a good batch. Everyone only gets what they deserve, and she's fought damn hard to deserve the right to be treated like a regular gem. Until she failed and Earth tainted her, too. Maybe she always thought it would, maybe she always feared the shit Earth soil she was made of would one day manifest and she'd turn out flawed and worthless just like the rest of her kind.

I honestly think that when Steven uses friendship-fu on her and gets her to see that Earth does, actually, have exceptional, unique beauty and value, and that finally she doesn't need to be ashamed of who she is and where she comes from, doesn't need to be PERFECT every time in order to be allowed to exist, she'll mellow out amazingly and will turn out to be a lot more like Amy or the rest of the Famethyst at the zoo.

She keeps Pink's subjects from being destroyed and even keeps the Rose Quartzes bubbled. When Greg showed her compassion by validating her grief, she did what she thought would save his life and brought him to a utopia. She even seems pretty lenient with her Pearl, not bothered when she went off on her own to investigate something she heard.
She has a hard hand with her own subjects, but I think if you can connect emotionally with her she'll treasure you always.

They do but seeing how yellow diamond and blue diamond are very different, yellow bottling up her grief and wanting to destroy every trace of pd so she can move on, and bd wallowing in her grief and wanting to preserve every last trace of pd, we know that they can still have very different personalities and since all we know of white diamond is how she looks and that she's a diamond we can't really make an assumption of what she's like just yet.
