Thread question: Do you prefer trades or hardcovers?
>>
I'm a terrible person and haven't bought anything since July. Still bumping because I love to see other people's purchases.

Just picked up From Hell, Space Riders, and High Society Remastered, and presently reading Concrete. What is everybody else reading?

No preference, but Dark Horse really knows how to put together a good hardcover. DC puts out some quality paperbacks, too, like those Doom Patrol trades. Marvel's Epic Collections are printed on some pretty shitty paper, but feature a lot of content to make up for it.

pick up everything they're going to release from this point in time onwards plus the deluxe editions of The Great Darkness Saga and The Curse. Think that should settle it for the forseeable future.
Modern LoSH should cover everything from Superman And The Legion of Super-Heroes onwards.
I'm still pissed about the bridging issue Action Comics 864 not showing up in any of the proper collections except for DC Comics Presents: Legion of Super-Heroes 02 (2011), but that's why I bought it after all.

>>
>>88869299

depends on how well they sell really.
if its something like Batman or Superman, you can expect them kinda frequently, since its pretty much guaranteed to sell quickly.

the more "obscure" you get with the characters the more infrequent the releases will be since they won't be sure of sales.

I picked up over December The Eternaut, Celeste, Star Slammers The Complete Collection and Daredevil By Frank Miller Companion omni. And Last Day in Vietnam from a kind anon in the wishlist threads.

>>88864048
>Do you prefer trades or hardcovers?
Depends. Whatever is the most accessible and cheapest would be my normal answer, but I guess for certain series I prefer hardcover collections over trades overall, but will have no problem picking up trades if I can get them for cheap. I guess the best example would the IDW's TMNT. I skipped the trades, even though they were good prices and well put together, in hopes of a HC that would put everything in order. My waiting paid off, so I'll continue collecting those in HC when I get the chance. I was originally collecting Green Lantern in trades to keep it looking uniform (plus they were cheaper at Strand) until someone bought me the first Omni.

Newfriends, you are all dealing with "That Guy Who's Last Fetish Thread Got Deleted", or walked off page 10, and now he's come to what he considers "the least on-topic thread" to hiss and screech piteously.

They get them in Win-O-Threads, they get them in Comic Movie Threads...
All you can do is stop feeding it (You)s til' it gets bored and moves to another thread or pisses off.

It doesn't want your rationales, it doesn't really want a genuine argument, it just wants to spray shit and get (You)s.

It depends on what you're interested in, really. It's not a graphic novel if that's what you're after, it's mostly an architectural theory book. The idea being that because architecture is a sequential experience of entering/exiting/performing actions within a series of spaces, the sequential imaging of comics can be used to express architectural ideas.

I work in an architecture office, so the overlap was something that really intrigued me when I first spotted the book a few months ago. I don't necessarily know if a straight-up comic enthusiast would get much out of it that they'd be interested in though.

Sounds cool. I've always been interested in architecture, but never got around to doing any research into it. I imagine it would mostly go over my head. I will very possibly fight somebody for that extra omni should you choose to give it away. UXM and Excalibur are what got me into comics as a kid. My mom's cousin and my dad's co-worker gave me some old issues when I was between four and six, which led to my love Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Arcade.

My mom's cousin recorded EVERY single episode of the X-Men: TAS and was the first person I ever knew to keep figures in-box, which was unthinkable to me at such a young age. I used to watch his bootleg copy of Pryde of the X-Men so often that I thought it was going to break from repeated use.

Thanks for reminding me I still need to preorder Sky Doll 4.

Anyone know if they're releasing it in hardcover in english? Amazon only has a softcover. Failing that, would it be stupid to get the softcover in English and the hardcover in French? My OCD's making it hard to have three hardcovers and only one soft.
>>

Decade is volumes 0-3, and Spaceship is a short story collection. Volume 4, Sudra, is up for preorder in english for the first time in August, but it's just in tpb form while the french version has paper and hardcover versions.

A bit triggering since Decade, Spaceship, and Doll's Factory (the art book) are all hardcovers, but certainly nothing serious, I'm just being OCD.

Went out to buy Sandman Overture and Watamote vol 9 today, but neither of my LCS had Watamote and Sandman was comically overpriced, so ended up ordering them off amazon instead.

Looked at Cloonan's Punisher since I'm a big fan of her work, but she seems like an odd choice for that book, so figure I'll download it first and see how it is. Also nearly picked up Saga, which I've done in the past, but the cover and blurb kill my interest in it despite all the hype. Another one to pirate I think.

Also had to stop myself buying the first Dredd casefiles book, because I can't afford to get hooked on that collection at the minute.

Grabbed this as a blind buy just so it didn't feel like a wasted trip more than anything. Don't know anything about it, but fuck it, it's a cowboy from the future fighting dinosaurs, it's bound to be good.

if you have an ISBN number available then you search for it. for comic silicits its very often an 18 digits number for whatever reason and you have to cut away the last 5 numbers to actually get results. neither of those numbers returned any results though so that simply means it was cancelled and never released.
looks like you'll have to pick up the floppies instead.

>>88894871
I have 500 volumes and don't see myself as any notable manga collector.
>>
>>88937171

Obviously the content is wildly different but i always looked at manga collectors as being kinda like Archie collectors, if you go all in you can amass a HUGEEE collection.. floppies are bad enough but all those digest size books really add up.
>>
>>88937171
>500 mango volumes
>not a lot
>>
>>88939070
I would compare them to floppies, they're pretty small and easy to handle.

Would you call a stack of 500 floppies a notable collection?
>>
>>88939673
Floppies are only like 20-30 pages. Manga volumes are ~200. They're not really comparable.
>>
>>88939673
That's still a lot.
>>
>>88939673
I'd say paperback books is a better comparison. Not ridiculous, but I doubt anyone wouldn't say that's a respectable amount. Never really counted before, but a quick estimate shows my four bookshelves put me at a thousand or two, so 5000 must make for a room sized library or so.
