My mother never let me watch Ramma 1/2 and when I was younger my sister told my mother that Pokemon was too violent so she could change the channel and watch Sailor Moon, I took revenge on her by using the "It a woman turning into a man" for going to another movie instead of watching Mulan... it was not worth it.

I grew up with four older brothers, my parents just didn't give a fuck any more when I was born. Dinner in front of the TV was pretty common and I was a sneaky little shit so I easily managed to do shit like watch all the porn stuff after midnight. One of my brothers also hid porn mags in his room, which were damned easy to find every time I scavenged his room for snack containers. (Guy always took entire chips bags and stuff to his room.) Cartoons too violent or sexual? Nah, my brothers already pulled so much shit that my mother just wasn't phased by anything I did or saw.

Hell, we used to watch sitcoms like Married With Children and Roseanne all the time so I'm pretty sure I've seen it all when I was 12.

To be honest I was kinda amazed they didn't raise a stink about EEnE for being "too ugly" or for having "bad role models". The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy was another show we slipped past their radar simply by calling it "Billy & Mandy".

But they were pretty strict about everything else, especially when I was younger... I distinctly remember not being allowed to watch MMPR when it was new, until ironically it was AFTER Lord Zedd was introduced that they decided I was "old enough", so seeing him for the first time is one of my formative memories. I WASN'T allowed to watch Big Bad Beetleborgs however, because the Hillhurst monsters and the fact that the Magnavores lived in a cemetery were too "demonic", but that just made me more determined to watch it and gave it an edge it didn't actually have.

I also distinctly remember my mom happening on Beast Wars for all of 5 seconds while channel surfing and summarily banning it. That was another rule I didn't really follow.

Also, we were super-into the Pokemon anime like every other kids in America when our mom stumbled upon a religious-right crazy fucknuts website preaching about how it was a Satanic Jap plot to brainwash our precious gaijin children. That was the worst, but it also sucked cuz they applied that shit to all -mon type anime. And Digimon was the biggest loss there because it was the one that was actually good, and you COULD technically argue it's pure sci-fi, but then like every other Big Bad was clearly designed to be Satanic, right down to invoking the Mark of the Beast. Or the whole Bakemon church episode. So basically, we'd just watch the banned shows we really wanted to with one kid on channel duty and another kid on lookout, and knowing we weren't supposed to watch them just made them that much cooler.

My mom was usually pretty okay about things like this. But one night she came into my room, saw I was watching Space Ghost, freaked out about them mentioning "sex" repeatedly in one of their little back-and-forths, and wrote an angry email to Cartoon Network about it.

This was in the years right before the start of Adult Swim, so I was probably like 12 at the time.

My parents were normal for a while but spent about two years being crazy fundamentalist christians, until the churchfolk eventually turned on them like they did to someone new each month. In 1992 no less...

I was banned from watching anything that had any element of magic in it or a magical character. This meant no Aladdin because it was clearly about someone selling their soul to satan for wishes. And just about all Disney actually because magic always means satanism and teaching witchcraft.

Power Rangers was not allowed because the villain was a witch and apparently any instance of a witch on a show means it teaches the viewer witchcraft. Even the villain.

Animaniacs were not allowed because they were demons that torment humans.

X-Men was not allowed because they all sold their souls to the devil for powers.

All things Looney Tunes were perfectly fine. They had no issues with every Nicktoon as well, including Ren and Stimpy, but they never really watched that anyway.

The only things I remember being told I couldn't watch was South Park and The Ripping Friends. I wasn't really sure of what I was allowed to watch but I watched Simpsons and Futurama with lowered volume and switched channels if my parents came in the room, just in case.

I think my mom just didn't want me swearing because when I borrowed a GTA game from a friend, she didn't seem to care about the violence but asked me if there was a way to turn off the swearing.

The cursing in The Simpsons meant I couldn't watch many episodes of it when I was young.
