Going to do as the title says and storytime the series Wanted. I watched the movie before I read the comic and while I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, after reading the comic I'm a little dissapointed the movie wasn't more faithful. I personally loved the comic's story more than the movies so here we are.
It's so weird thinking that Chris Pratt played Wesley's piece of shit best friend in the movie.
If there's one thing the movie did is that it made him insanely more likeable. Wesley in this starts off looking like a prick and instantly turns into a sociopath within the span of a couple pages.
>I'm not a homosexual, you understand.
Whatever you gotta tell yourself.
I have no idea how I missed the Spidey boots the first time I read it. I guess I just wasn't a critical reader back then.
I'm glad this scene was adapted for the movie. This one was definitely more ridiculous.
>The second coming of Jesus Christ out of the newspapers if they wanted to. In fact, I think they did a few years back.
I wonder if this is a reference to Chosen by Millar
God Wesley is such a pussy.
It's weird knowing that The Fox looks like Halle Berry and Wesley looks like Marshall Mathers.
I feel like the mantra of this comic is "shut up and go with it." Otherworldly concepts, names, and locations are fired at the reader without much elaboration beyond a sentence or two. There is very little time to consider the logic of this universe.
Wanted is one of Millar's more polarizing works. I personally like it but I wouldn't put it in my top 5 works by Millar
Can anybody clarify if Fuckwit is supposed to be a failed clone of The Plutonian?
The Professor is one of the better characters this series. Wish we got to see him in Jupiter's Circle/Legacy
Admit it, this scene was fucking sweet the first time you read it.
>I could be projecting but I thought this was a great turning point for the story.
Hell of a way to end an issue.
>>88847626
oh shit the boots haha
>I've seen spina bifida babies with more goddamn backbone.
I laughed more than I should have at this.
>>88848310
Thanks for reading along man! I was worried I this thread was gonna die for a while! You da best!
One of the few scenes that was better in the movie. Link for reference.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK0-76FChfk
These next couple pages are the definition of edge.
>Did Wesley ever bend a bullet in this comic or was that a trait unique to the movie? I know he deflected a bullet with a knife but never bent it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJTXpItCqFU
>Can you believe I raped an A-List celebrity and it didn't even make the news?
God fucking dammit Millar! In literally one issue you manage to make Wesley an irredeemable piece of shit! This was completely unecessary and added nothing other than making look like an deranged monster that was looking for the first excuse to indulge in his twisted fucking fantasies. .
Same, the movie's my first exposure before the comics, same with Kickass and Kingsman. Millar can get a bit all the edge in a lot of his works but when you get used to it.
>If I was chocolate, I swear I'd eat myself right now.
I laughed. Also J.G. Jones really knocked it out of the park with all these character designs and aesthetics.
>>88848451
>>88848530
oh yeah, now we're getting the sociopathy.
Is that the fucking Vulture in panel 2? I'd want to believe so because it would make the Millar Multiverse that much more insane.
If I remember correctly, this is the Millar Multiverse.
>Universe 1
>Jupiter's Circle (Starting Point), Wanted, Chosen, Huck, Kick-Ass Series, MPH, Nemesis, Starlight, Secret Service, Superior, and Marvel 1985 (which itself incorporates Marvel 616).
>With this known, it's not impossible for The Fraternity to span the Millar Multiverse.
>It's also logical to assume that the Fraternity's influence greatly varies across the universes, which explains why The Fox can literally get away with murder and The Vulture can't rob a bank without the police getting on his tail.
>Universe 2
>Jupiter's Circle (Starting Point) - Super Crooks - Jupiter's Legacy
>>88848626
Ivy, Ghost Rider, Brainiac(?), Freeze, DeathStroke, Vulture?
If anyone showed me this page I'd think it was a page from The Boys.
I'm at a loss for who would voice Mr. Rictus
We were never going to get Shit-Head in that movie....=(
>We carved up on the continents and he got stuck with Australia. Apparently, he's still seething about it.
Ha!
>They fought against the same superhero many years ago.
I know the obvious choice would be Sheldon, but I'm kinda leaning towards George.
In a sense, Solomon Salazar is the greatest supervillain Millar has ever created in terms of what he accomplished. Also, after reading this page it's possible for the events associated with Marvel 1984 to be present in both of Millar's universes.
Rough...
I love it when characters are sentimental. Hero and villain alike.
Yep...Solomon is the kinda villain I wish would take me under his wing. He doesn't seem like a pscyhotic nutcase, just someone that wants to be left to work as well as run amock every now and again.
Also, this is The Plutonian's cape right?
>>88849623
You could say he's more of the highlight in this than Wesley
Well this is somehow even worse than the movie so far.
>>88848603
So was she really distraught over him leaving or was it because for once, he got the final word over her?
>>88847538
What might never happen?
>>88849836
I think it's a combination of both.
THis is a pretty sweet page. Dual wielding handguns and blowing apart superheroes while freefalling towards the earth just looks awesome.
>>88849769
The book is SIGNIFICANTLY EDGIER than the movie but I feel has infinitely more style and overall uniqueness. The fact that we didn't get the Killer suit in the movie was upsetting. It did however come out in the game and I'm tempted to purchase it for that alone lol.
Very interesting questions....
The origin of Shit-Head is hysterical.
And apparently Millar licks them.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shit just got real.
>>88850312
I'd say "OH SHIT" but I saw that coming from pages away.
>>88850465
So Millar's finally catching up...I think
>>88850739
Are we near the page where he shows youHIS FACE WHEN
I was kinda hoping Mr. Rictus was gonna put up more of a fight.
>>88850775
The last page in the book I'm afraid.
this is my face while im fucking you in thebump
No fuckin way.
Alright guys, last issue. I hope yall have at least been entertained by these ridiculous six issues. It's not for everybody, but in terms of establishing a fucking multiverse with a cast of unique characters and an engaging self-instert ish plot you can do a lot worse than Wanted.
Love that the art style radically changed when the world used to be a lot more "Super".
>>88848451
Could sympathize with the guy up till now until this scene when he truly started becoming an asshole. But it was obviously suppose to reach this point eventually in hindsight given he's becoming a super-villain.
>>88851048
Oh god it's Walt Disney
By dad.
And now we have Wesley's ultimate turning point...
This made me laugh really hard.
>>88851249
I'd believe it.
>>88851196
Crop that second panel and it would be really weird
And that ladies and gentlemen is Wanted. Now that the story is complete, which one did you guys overall prefer? The comic or the film?
>>88851383
Read the book before I saw the film, needless to say I was super pissed at Miller for shilling it after I saw it. It wasn't WANTED.
It could have been Watchmen tier, and it could have moved the needle on the cape movie craze to more adult, 80's action movie style stuff had it been a sucess as it was written.
>>88851364
This is the /r9k/ page.
>>88851383
Film honestly. The bittersweet ending just works better but it ended a bit too early for me.
>>88851383
neither really, the film had no sense of humor or levity outside of the first scene and the book felt like it was trying to both emulate eminem's vulgarity while also trying to do the postmodern shtick and those are two taste that don't go together, at least not like that.
>>88851383
Haven't seen the film but like most of Millars non-superman work this comic is complete ass. But it's no where near as bad as the unfunnies or nemesis so thanks op.
Didn't even have the decency to show the black chick naked...what a waste of time.
>>88848345
I'm reading along too. Thanks Anon!
>>88852105
WHo's awesome?Ur awesome!
>>88851383
Neither was impressive in the least, but the film felt a bit more coherent and wasn't quite so "Millar".
Millar works best when he has somebody holding the reins. Otherwise he just spins out into garbage.
>>88851383
>>88851364
>>88851350
You can practically feel Millar jerking off as he writes it.
What the fuck was the point of this garbage?
>>88852359
Do you feel fucked in the ass?
>>88852359
Fantasy world where a loser happens to inherit a fortune and is trained by super humans to save the world, cause chaos and fuck bitches without repercussions.
Something a teenage school shooter would make in their spare time.
>>88851069
The comic was always too edgy for me. Him killing a bunch of cops just made it unplatable, beyond The Boys because The Boys were at least goodish.
I loved the hell out of the movie though.
>>88851383
Film definitely. Books just too pointless, in my view, and I hate all the characters.
>>88850885
Does Wesley's powers just give him incredible accuracey or do his powers of killing imbue him and his weapons with some type of power that makes Supers vulnerable to bullets. It just seems startling how many Supers Wesley can drop with a set of pistols so either they're naturally vulnerable to gunfire, Wesley is exclusively shooting through open cavities (eyes, ears, mouth), or his powers magic his bullets magic in some way which allow him to blow apart Supers with just a handgun.
>>88847601
How the fuck did he pull that off?
>>88848000
You mean the utopian?
>>88847513
>>88847538
So in the comics he's a bit racist?
>>88852515
Well Millar is the poor man's Ennis.
>>88847811
I like her way more than Angelina Jolie
>>88848000
I just assumed it was a parody of Bizarro Superman.
>>88848049
>>88847513
I don't mean to get all PC, but what's so important about his boss being African American? Is it just to establish that these characters are villains?
>>88848530
Well, he is supposed to be a super villain...
>>88854020
He's an asshole who's too timid to actually lash out at anyone -- before he gets his powers, anyway.
She's a black woman speaking down to him, a white man. He's insulted more by the breach of decorum than he is by the actual dressing down.
>>88849836
Better question, why didn't he rape and/or murder her? Just leaving seemed out of character.
>>88850727
Is that an AT-AT head?
>>88849935
I'm really not seeing how this guy is mowing down Superman-expies with just a pair of handguns and super-aiming skills.
>>88850133
This whole Fraternity thing makes zero sense.
They go through all this trouble to stay out of sight, manipulate the media and keep all their shit out of the papers to make sure nobody knows they exist, and yet simply saying the name is enough to make even some random nobody recognize them.
>>88852359
Millar's very own Isekai.
Awful as I remembered
>>88850184
Lmao is that Scott Steiner in the 4th panel.
>>88851383
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xHw_zAJRDk
I like the ending of the film more.
>>88847419
Really refreshing to see someone storytime something like this without just shitting all over it.
I get comics like this, Nemesis, Kick Ass etc. are all quite edgy and stuff, but I still love em anyway.
They're just fun. KA especially, I'll always have a place for that one.
>>88851069
not everything must be awesome, i really enjoyed this, but kudos to the guys that did the movie.
this shit is unstraslatable to a film as it is.
I still can't decide whether I find it so bad it's good or just bad.
But the comic was better than the movie, hands down.
>>88847478
What the fuck is up with Millar having cuckolding in almost every single comic he writes?
>>88850955
>>88850968
>>88850978
>>88850994
>>88851011
God, this sequence is so anticlimactic. I mean, you've got your main character staring down a bunch of supervillains and he just shoots them all and everything works out just fine.
I know it's supposed to be all badass or whatever, but it's just such a letdown. The resolution just falls so flat.
>>88848530
>God fucking dammit Millar! In literally one issue you manage to make Wesley an irredeemable piece of shit! This was completely unecessary and added nothing other than making look like an deranged monster that was looking for the first excuse to indulge in his twisted fucking fantasies. .
I can only hope you're joking.
>>88848000
Its obviously a riff on Bizzaro Superman.
>>88857522
The thread is nothing BUT people shitting on it.
>>88849623
Millar now claims that, but you know well he was going for Supes back than.
>>88847777
He's basically Eminem, if Eminem had no ambition or drive.
>>88861647
Joking ish. I'm still all for making Wesley a full blown monster by the end of the story, just have it take just a we bit more time rather than in the span of literally two pages. The fact he goes from loser to badass in the span of 6 months is ridiculous enough as is.
>>88853794
Exactly. My bad.
>>88863500
That's kinda funny, since Eminem actually was in a crossover comic with the Punisher.
>>88848316
Man does Millar do great unabashed villains, can't wait for another story about them from him.
>>88851383
Comic:
>THIS IS MY FACE WHILE I FUCK YOU IN THE ASS
Movie:
>What the fuck have you done lately?
I feel like the Movie ending has a better punch to it.
>>88863572
MK ultra program made people into master killers in far less time and it was real, anon.
>>88863875
They cheated though
>>88848000
>>88853794
>>88863586
I don't know if Millar ever said so, but I'd think Fuckwit would have to be the failed clone of the Utopian since Millar outright said that the cape belonged to the Utopian and Fuckwit's an obvious riff on Bizarro as >>88853946 and >>88862918 said.
>>88855618
The only thing people know is "Fraternity is not to be fucked with." Like an Illuminati group or whatever. They don't know that they're supervillains since there's no historical record of superheroes or supervillains other than misremembered stuff in the comics.
Posting Nemesis. Please please please do not post any images. I need ALL of them.
>>88864263
Oh sorry.
I didn't know you needed the image count for another storytime.
McNiven knocked it out of the goddamn park on art duties. This comic almost exclusively widescreen panels.
>>88864288
I didn't before. I just spaced it out for the remaining 100 images and I should just barely fit.
I've said it before, I adore Nemesis' design. The all white outfit with the half mask and cape add a fair amount of flair. I also enjoy the fact there is no discernible logo, in essence making Nemesis a blank slate. Anyone can be Nemesis.
Shit...
>>88863848
Yeah, there's no comparing the two lines. The movie line is much better.
Wow.
>>88864382
I don't disagree, but something about the Superhero theme of the comic just resonates with me a whole lot more. I didn't like that the movie tried to incorporate this loom of fate into the story. I would have just preferred that they be an organization of assassins that attempt to better the world and then you just find out Morgan Freeman was a douche.
This is so simple it would probably work. Also I love Millar's dialog throughout most of his works. He's capable of writing some very distinct characters while still being recognizable. It's weird.
>>88849323
Tim Curry.
>>88864793
My man!
I remember seeing another anon say this page was Millar's best Morrison impression.
I love the nonchalant table with cocaine laid out. I wonder if its for everyone or just him.
I think this is where the trend of villains having insane amounts of prep time went too far.
>>88865202
Ya dead, OP?
>>88865620
So sorry. Thought I had banking issues for a moment and had to check my balance which became another ordeal because I forgot my login.
I'm golden. Got a decent chunk of change in checking.
These next pages are probably some of the best sequenced carnage I've had the pleasure of viewing.
The contrast of the blood on the costume was a smart movie from the creative team.
I can't help but love this scene. It's too ridiculous to fully hate.
Millar you madman!
Easily page of the year for that particular year.
>>88864263
Why do you hate us anon?
>>88866109
But this is all for you, baby. It's all for you.
Mark Miller is such an incompetent hack, I hate how much attention he gets.
I remember a time when "edgy" meant something good and creative, but assholes like him turned that word into "tryhard being a dick".
Now even Transmet is looked down on because it's connection to edgyness.
>>88847478
So if I hug a woman in America is it considered sex as well?
>>88866021
Page of the year, everyone.
>>88865202
WELL CONGRATULATIONS, YOU GOT YOURSELF CAUGHT.
>>88848033
i tought profesor would be the luthor´s like enemy on j´s circle.
Bump! Also what would you guys recommend I storytime next (assuming it's a Millar story).
I'm thinking either...
>Superior
>Supercrooks
>Jupiter's Legacy V2
>MPH

supercrooks is always a fun romp

Ok, this whole comic was fucking garbage but that's without the doubt the dumbest thing I've ever read.
>>88871407
Cool
>>88855536
ci-fi guns bro
>>88871885
Is it sci-fi guns or Wesley fundamentally altering the guns with his powers to be more lethal
>>88847905
Oh my god is that the shocker?
>>88848530
Uh, what? He was already an irredeemable piece of shit, and he was randomly murdering completely innocent people but that didn't seem to bother you huh edge master?
You just betrayed the white knight faggot you must be with that sentence lol.
This series is 14-year-old level trash that echoes the 14-year-old mentality of the writer and this is why comics are perceived as the jokes they have become.
>>88849323
I always gave him the old hamill rasp and past myself.
>>88849323
I'd imagine something sinister like Clancy Brown.
>>88849935
Man that game was the shit,if I remember correctly.
The curving bullets gimmick really paid off there, felt natural and b-e-a-utiful when it connected with that little cutscene of enemies heads blowing up.
>>88860048
It's the defining primal fear in all white men right next to death
>>88850225

I like the suit with the mask. It's why I enjoyed the game enough to keep playing.
>>88851383
when I was younger, I hated this comic and just wanted everyone in it to burn.
now that i'm older... I still hate the comic but I will admit that the setting is cool.
hell it's inspired me to write my own version of it and try and make a story out of it.
>>88872792
I'm pretty sure that's public speaking
