As a Britbong this was completely alien to me how AA feels towards interracial unions, I'd heard of it, but I never saw it first hand until recently. I make no bones about it, I think IR couples are cute and its always nice to see people of two different race together. Two of the most famous BWWM IR couples on youtube are a British and Australian couple respectively and I'd always notice AA women posting. In the recommended video it would always pop up about "Swirling" this and "Swirling" that. I thought all well and good, then I started seeing "anti- swirling" videos usually by Black American men (some women) about how black women shouldn't date outside their race, and those that do "hate black men" and/or have "White saviour" complexes. I just baka. That kind of let me down the rabbit hole into the "black manosphere" on youtube. I noticed previous AA women saying black me are OK when BM date outside their race, but hate when BW do it, I thought they were exaggerating, but my god it's true. It's especially disturbing when are dark-skinned BM lists all the ways in which DSBW are horrible and strip them of their womanhood, yet when a man of another race see her beauty they get furious.

It's obviously not great if BW have a "fuck BM" mentality, but if they'd been attacked by men like this they can't be surprised. It's really pathological, and it seems to stem from slavery.

Yeah, that's where your own character preference bias blinds you into being wrong.

He planned to marry Elsa and kill no one at first, but panicked and courted Anna in order to be able to stay in Arendelle, apparently figuring that he'll just marry as close to the throne as possible and figure something out on the fly. He's pretty ruthless, so if that "something" would include murder, he'd be ready if that's what it took, but "literally planned from the start" is plain wrong.

It's sort of funny you're trying to shit on others for interpreting the characters and their motivations in a way that differs from your personal interpretation, when your own view and the "he planned from the beginning to murder everyone" headcanon goes against canon (or at least what can be surmised from the movie itself, creator comments and tie-in media in the franchise.) It's literally just trying to insist that other people are deluded because they don't agree with your personal headcanon.

There's a decent theory that the Trolls fucked with his brain to try to get him out of the way so Anna would fall for Kristoff. Note that he's a perfect gentleman/hero before Anna meets the trolls, it's only after she returns that he goes all mustache-twirling villain. Given how fae-folk are, it wouldn't surprise me.

And Hans' behavior throughout the movie raises so many questions with him ending up as the villain. Why'd he grin adoringly at Anna from under the boat when no one was watching? Why did he take a search party out for Anna in the first place? She left him in charge. Why'd he try to save Elsa? Why'd he ask her to end the winter instead of just having her executed/etc. Telling Anna and locking her in a room wasn't the brightest plan and if he'd made such an incredible plan that he'd do all these other things why would he suddenly do something so stupid?

The search party was so that he could control the events when they found the princesses, a situation he manipulated by going on ahead with just the two murder guards leaving the other people/witnesses behind, at the same time endearing himself to them as a hero.

He didn't know whether killing her would end the Winter, he could only guess, so at first he tried to convince her to end it, but when that didn't work he went straight to murder/manipulating her into thinking she killed Anna.

And leaving the victim to die in unattended WITH NO POSSIBLE WAY FOR THEM TO SURVIVE is movie villain 101, it doesn't make sense, but then people torture people for no reason in real life and bury them alive, it's just that because movies are generally about the protagonists, they end up escaping despite the odds.

And that Troll thing is pure unfiltered bullshit, why would these completely benign creatures put a curse on Anna, in order to curse Hans? To get their adopted son laid? That plan is more likely to end with Anna dead, which would be counter-productive to Kristoff smashing Anna.

Now here I am arguing that, yes, the Disney villains ARE IN FACT villains. People like you grow up to make movies like Maleficent.

Nice headcanoning you've got going on there, but your personal views or speculations are not canon, and you can't tell other people they shouldn't like things because you personally interpret some fictional characters differently than they do.

We don't know much at all of Hans or his motivations. We don't see into his head, apart from the hammy villain monologue he delivers to Anna, and maybe his expressions and reactions. So there's a lot of room for different personal interpretations of the character.

I place quite a bit of weight on Jennifer Lee's (writer-director) own words, though. She's said in an interview that in her view, "Hans is a TRAGIC character and a product of growing up without love". This distinction of tragic, not evil, as well as Santino Fontana (Hans' VA) mentioning in a different interview that the Disney scriptwriters themselves have told him they "have an idea and want to bring Hans back and redeem him" is enough for me to happily keep interpreting Hans as someone who's not meant to be just evil bloodlust and scheming, but instead someone tragic who might indeed deserve a second chance and redemption. This is not the same as "blameless" or "misunderstood", mind.

If you personally want to keep headcanoning Hans as a heartless turbovillain who only ever had murder on his mind, feel free, but your interpretation isn't the canon truth, and you shouldn't try to lord it over people as such or shit on their ships.

Personally I don't buy that at all.
I like him more as someone who's a bit of a snarky asshole behind his polite manners, but who's so desperate to marry well they force themselves to court someone they increasingly despise until they can't hold it in any more. I've rewatched Frozen probably too many times, and his expressions during LIAOD actually visibly turn sourer and smiles more forced the longer he spends with Anna. He seems attracted to Anna when they first meet at the docks, hence the smile, but her crazy whimsy really gets on his nerves. He just doesn't like her personality.

Like if you contrast his boat smile with the grimaces he pulls during the scene where they ask for Elsa's permission, he seems like he's in pain. It's quite nice attention to detail.

But yeah his writing is all over the place. It seems to me like they were writing him as someone more ambiguous, a ruthless schemer still trying to be relatively-decent and do his duty, but then felt the need to amp him up into a "real" villain and cranked the assholery up to 11 during the monologue, to make it crystal clear to the audience who they should root for.

Absolutely not, I like the snarky ruthless asshole aspect of him. I'm a sucker for hard-earned redemption stories though, and like the idea of him having to come to terms with having been in the wrong and working to improve and atone and better himself (while always remaining a bit of an arrogant dick).
