Thanks for that link! I guess we need to get more creative again or have a re-watch together to get the creative juices flowing again. I guess it was also easier with Aresko since he's that much like us (remember the penchant for Neimodian culture just because he looked like some weeb?) whereas Officer Sheep Face lacks some standing out factor.

>it doesn't really make sense why Leia would name her son after a guy she never met other than as a newborn
Yeah, Ben is so much better.

Ben is LUKE's son's name in the EU. So much better.
>>
>>88812919
That was her initial impression, but she eventually forgave him.

>However, in 8 ABY, upon discovering her grandmother's diary, Leia realized that her father wasn't the evil monster that she thought he was and learned to forgive him. In 10.5 ABY, Leia Organa Solo named her youngest child Anakin in remembrance of her father's redemption.
>>
>>88812953
I never said Ben made sense. Stop projecting.
>>
>>88812919
Plus in the SW universe, Leia naming her son Anakin is kinda like Churchill having a kid after WWII and calling him Adolf.

Eyebrows would certainly be raised.
>>
>>88812919
"I placed quite a burden on Anakin, didn't I, by giving him that name."
I think she did it to constantly be a reminder to her children what can happen if they allow the dark side to take them and also to encourage her son to be the best person he can be so that he can reinvent the title and what people associate with his name

If you're looking for good Thrawn action, it's a slow burn. He's only appeared a handful of times and he hasn't really done much. It's clear they are setting up a big payoff with him but so far it's a bit frustrating to see him do very little.

I imagine it would have to have been made public pretty quickly, because the New Republic would have needed to re-write the Empire's propaganda narrative about the Jedi "coup attempt", and without Anakin becoming Vader it wouldn't really make any sense.

Proto-Kylo.

His design went through a thousand revisions, starting from Lucas and Arndt all the way to JJ and Kasdan.

>I don't remember them ever being called that in the movie, but feel free to call me out for being a retard if I am wrong.

They weren't, to my reckoning. But Dave implied or stated in a youtube video that the A and B-wings at Endor came from Phoenix Squadron back just before season 2 aired.
>>
>>88813946
That is certainly true, the point of this show is the explain how the Rebellion came to be after all. That being said, doesn't mean they don't have some A-Wings in storage somewhere, or they don't get more later. If they decided to twist things to have Thrawn wreck the Squadron, they certainly can. Dave's tweaked and changed his ideas and plans in the past. TCW ended up being vastly different to his original concepts, some of which are visibly dropped in the show. (The entire use of the Twilight, for example)

And after all, maybe Dave has been intending this poetry since the beginning.

What are phoenixes known for? Dying and rising again from the ashes.
>>
>Season 3 finale
>Sato gets Thrawned
>couple of nameless A-Wing pilots get blown up
>Sheev sends Thrawn on an expedition to the Unknown Regions where he allies himself with Rax and starts laying the groundwork for the FO

Nothing else of significance will happen. Thrawn was a meme.
>>
>>88814007
Even if that is all that happens, seeing the Rebels actually lose a major battle and leader would be a nice change from the status quo.

Sure its not Game of Thrones style or TCW-tier where half the non-movie characters end up dead, but it would be a significant loss to the Rebellion, and a mature lesson of loss for the characters and younger viewers.

Plus that sounds like it is setting Thrawn up for later use where he may have more freedom to fight more expendable heroes, so that wouldn't be a bad thing either.
>>
>>88814054
It's called putting him on the bus so that they don't have to worry about doing anything with them.

Same thing they did with Ahsoka, twice.

Of course, the second time it was done was so that they could get rid of a character that had no reason to be around in the first place.

Ahsoka was never actually leaving TCW, just the Jedi order.

They did write her out of Rebels though, because it "isn't her story", they just wanted her to have closure for the TCW arc, which culminated in a pretty great Vader fight, so no complaints.

If Thrawn gets written out of the show, it will only be after he is satisfied with his blow against the Rebels, which I am sure will be exciting to watch, so again, no complaints here if that happens. Not everybody has to die/stick around til the final episode, especially with a multimedia franchise where all the books, movies and comics are connected. I'm sure Thrawn will be popping up everywhere once he leaved the show, until they find a place to end his story.

All of the cases in his movies, and ESPECIALLY TCW where the majority of the aliens do not follow the stereotype set by the characters that introduced them.

Off the top of my head;

>Twi'lek
>Introduced as a slave
>AotC has a Jedi Twi'lek. Lucas's daughter cameos as a Twi'lek too. TCW has them as freedom fighters on an enslaved Planet.

>Rodian

>Gungans

It was only really the EU that had such strong stereotypes for the aliens.

That happen to generate their own blades. If you're going to make reference to a Lightsaber as a sword, you're going to go for the actual physical object above all else.

>A grip without a blade isn't a sword, it's a stick.
And a blade without a hilt isn't a sword either.

But to answer your original question, now that we've cleared up your poor terminology. No, their blades don't look different on the whole. Kylo, Darth Bane and the Darksaber's blades are the only real outside the ordinary blade design. Beyond those, every blade is exactly the same excluding color variation.

So could we then say (assuming playing fast and loose with canon/legends) that Galactic Ages kind of look like this?

~3000BBY- Rakata Empire
~2000BBY- Hundred Year Darkness/Start of Jedi v. Sith
~1500BBY- Mandalorian Wars/Sack of Coruscant/Revan
~1000BBY- Final Collapse of the Sith Empire/Darth Bane/Establishment of "New" Republic.

Bottom line up front I am bored and trying to make a sensible Old Republic (that feels old) and I am trying get the timelines right. I think the Rakata work as an Antediluvian/Atlantis type of civilization, but I am worried about sending anything back 3000 years and that would necessitate too much of a technology gap.

Complete remodeling.
Make them actually alien. Even if humanoid, they would be still more alien, that you couldn't hypothetically just dress human in make up and rubber suit (taking advantage from media where only imagination are limits). They could be collective or even hive mind (kinda) of different species, somebody like canon Vong could appear as some of those. Technology wile still biotech, it would be not that standing out, would use same stuff, like hyperspace instead new bullshit.
Force relation, it should be clear they have their own warped use of it what gives impression of being fully immune only to be revealed at some point to be their alien take on Dark Side.
They philosophy and culture would be more alien, while you could recognize some aspect, it woulndt be clear. They wouldnt have any hate for technology, at least not in form they had in book.
They could take route of Tyranids/Zergs - as more hive mindish, assimilators who relly on numbers, guided by survival and desire to consume. Or Vorlons/Shadows who more culture oriented and philosophy oriented, focused on guiding Galaxy and purging it in necessary.
Actually those brain things would be in charge of Vong, instead tools.
Their motivation should be force oriented. Either by aquiring force users from other galaxies or trying to guide them in their views.
This could leave potential if some kind of peaceful resolution or redemption avoiding total genotical outcome.

Also take their invasion far into future, like at least thousand years later to give happy ending for Galaxy in EU times. And dont make what ever goverment and armies dealing with them into retards just so brave heroes could save galaxy.

ā€œWell, because this film happens before Episode IV, thereā€™s maybe an opportunity to bridge a little bit of the clone troopers in here, as well.ā€

TPM- pretty much just the movie, not any better or worse. Mentions Darth Bane though.
AOTC- Lots of bonus content. added Tatooine scenes with Shmi and the Lars family are great.
ROTS- most will say this is better than the movie. It's not. The author spends half the book covering one third of the movie and has to rush the shit out of the end. The writing style is also very... fedora.
TFA- haven't read, i've heard it sucks

I honestly thought the story would have gone more like this:

>the Jedi Order is too restrictive concerning emotion
>they associate it with the Sith
>Anakin develops emotional attachments
>the Order cannot help him deal with this
>this contributes to Anakin turning to the Dark Side
>ultimately leads to the destruction of the Order
>Obi-Wan realizes their fatal error
>teaches Luke to "stretch out with his feelings" during his training
>Obi-Wan tells Luke that his feelings for Leia "do him credit"
>tells him to conceal rather than suppress his feelings
>Anakin's love ultimately destroys the Sith
>Luke realizes that positive emotions can aid you in wielding the Force

Other galaxy is still same universe, there is no reason to asume that other galaxies have no access to hyperspace.
Also aliens who are masters of biotechnology would be good candidate for someone who is also master of hyperspace tech since you mentioned how it was from learning of how space creatures travel that technology was developed.
Also fact they traveled from one galaxy to another would explain already their status as masters of hyperspace and it would make it plausible for them to learn about hyperspace lanes and could give them interesting edge over this galaxy in warfare.

This. This would have made sense for Luke's character. His success in the OT was because of him NOT being like the old Jedi back in the PT days.

But in TFA he's made the exact same mistakes and became an old hermit who just said screw it to all his friends. Those friends he skipped training for to save.

Luke was supposed to be more than a Jedi.

You really should watch the behind the scenes to the fight because it was created by acutal swordsmen. It's not to be 100% realistic but there was a lot of thought and moment put into the styles. If notice in TPM, there's barley any time to block or counter, it's quick with no time for mistakes.

Please spare me that Totally TPM video. It was made as a joke not something serious; the creator admits it and regrets it attracted the wrong type of people..

>Hello, Rey. I sense that you have come to begin your training.
>Yes, master. I am eager to learn all you have to teach me.
>Excellent! We will start with the basics: using the Force to sense your environment, when the senses fail.
>Master Skywalker, I can already do this! I've been able to do this for as long as I can remember.
>...You are truly strong in the Force. Then we will move onto an old favorite technique of mine: using the Force to enhance one's abilities at piloting starcraft, moving, and using weaponry.
>That's OK, master, I can do that too! You should have seen how well I piloted the Falcon! Han even offered me a job, he was so impressed. He said I reminded him of himself!
>...I am highly impressed, Rey. We will begin with more advanced techniques, then. Pushing and pulling objects with the Force is difficult, but a vital component of a Jedi's abilities. I myself didn't learn this power until over a year into my own training. We might have to start slowly, but I am confident that with enough practice you will master it.
>Master, I've already mastered it! I even won a direct contest of strength in the Force with Kylo Ren, with your lightsaber as the prize!
>...Then I guess that we will begin with lightsaber combat itself, then. Lightsabers are difficult weapons to use, so don't be too discouraged when you find these lessons challenging to use...
>But Master, I've already defeated the Dark Lord Kylo Ren in single lightsaber combat after he killed your best friend Han Solo while you hid here on this remote rock instead of helping him! I honestly think that I'm good in this area.
>...Well it seems that you already know most of which I can teach you. We then move onto among the most advanced techniques Jedi possess: the Jedi Mind Trick. Be careful with this power, as it is easy to abuse, and only a Jedi with a firm grasp of the principles ofyou already learned how to do it, didn't you?

Except for when they'd accelerate the movements from strikes to a change in stance to a strike again. Though they got better in the later seasons and they didn't have to worry about actors hurting themselves.

> But in the OT it look more like they were correlating to real medieval knights sword dueling

They weren't. Lucas intentionally had Obi-wan and Vader's duel to be more Kendo-based.

The rest in TESB and RoTJ was just meant as an exaggeration of fantasy sword fighting. It didn't take until the PT for George to finally get to do what he always wanted to do.

They wanted to train him to be an assassin for them, to kill Vader, regardless of their relation to each other.

Meh. She worked well enough as a side character, but she's not interesting enough to carry her own series. The utterly cheap way of having her survive the Vader series also kind of turned me against her.

It's not a fan edit that changes the plot or story. It just adds some changes to the film that I personally enjoy. Like the puppets/masks in the cantina that blink or have more movement. Or making the Death Star battle more dramatic like the novelization.

The only thing I hate about his edit is putting the Death Star above a planet.

He stopped caring about Star Wars years ago. He mispronounces names all the time in interviews and still says "Laser sword"

Star Wars fans often get too sentimental about George Lucas. Like he's a kindly old grandpa who just wants to share a world that he made just for you

Christianity and its symbolism didn't really take hold for the vikings (where that sword is from) until the 13th century.

Instead we see widening of the crossguard as fighting styles that incorporate binds start to become popular, something that tended to happen when using heavier armors as it would allow you to better attack and kill your opponent. In cultures that lacked this kind of mentality you tend to have much smaller guards on their swords.

For the most part, the small guard that was present on swords since the early Gladius was generally enough to deflect a blade away from the hands.

as things go further on, the crossguard starts to curve forward, allowing for easier trapping of an enemy's blade, as seen in many two handed weapons and falchions. As backswords and dueling become popular the guards tended to be bent over the hand, evnetually making the sabre style hand guard and basket hilts.

None of this says that Christianity's symbolism may not have played a role, but the guard in it's various forms did serve a function, and its shape changed based on the function it needed to serve.

They don't. JJ, Pegg, and Kasdan are the reason TFA was so "OT catering".

It looked more like a knight's sword because that's the type of feeling the designer wanted the audience to have.
Like Kylo's a crusader or an extreme monk.

Kylo's character was all about that type of suggestion. The Dark Side was about rigid order and problems with control. Whereas the Light is all about freedom and improvisation, like Rey.

Kylo was mean to remind people of an angry repressed religious knight and the crossguards helped that.

They were modeled after all kinds of empires, Soviets, Japanese, Chinese, German. British and American as well. But Hollywood does what Hollywood does. I bet they see holocaust ashes as cocaine because they snort it so much.

Normies are the only ones who haven't seen the Falcon in years. The rest of us have seen it and other OT imagery in games and comics for years, so seeing the Falcon again wasn't a big "OH MY GOD THE FALCON!" moment for us.

Maul vs Dooku: which was the better villain in TCW?
>>
>>88819081
Maul was in like five episodes and did nothing of consequence in the war.
>>
>>88819081
Both were butchered.
But Maul was enjoyable in his own way.
Dooku went from enigmatic evildooer to mustache twirling villain.

Maul just became a chatterbox.

Maul had a better story, but Dooku was a stronger villain.

What happened to the arm Anakin lost on Geonosis? Was it ever recovered? Did someone try to clone it? Did Legends ever touch on that idea?

Lucas said Soviet Union.
They also enlist their soldiers rather than conscript like German or Soviet armies, indicating a connection to the 'free world' as well. British accent means a lot too.

DESPERATE

God, this is just sad. If they really didn't like the movie then why do they feel the need to keep talking about it. They've already made a full review. One response video is fine. That's normal. But if they feel confident in your points, then let them speak for themselves. Not need to reiterate them twice, doing a fucking reaction video to a reaction video. While using the Plinkett persona to boost it to boot.

Don't forget the Force Tree from that Poe Dameron comic
>>
>>88819365
I think they're starting to feel like they're falling behind.
The Original Trilogy was 40 years ago, so naturally the franchise evolved from there, and so did the community.
But people like RLM got stuck in the 80's. They didn't move on with Star Wars, they became stubborn.

What's happening is that those people are starting to realize that Star Wars moved on without them, the franchise is simply not for them anymore.
>>
>>88819401
Didn't we already get shown the origin planet of the Force in that one TCW episode of Yodas Awesome Journey?
>>
>>88819413
Yeah, but you're still mistaking the reasons that gave rise to the rumor as proof of the rumor.

This would be like posting a picture of Rey's staff and saying "see? proof that Plagueis is in the movie!"

We did, but people making clickbait articles rightly assume normies never watched TCW (and most of the time the people making clickbait articles haven't either)

So... When's the VIII trailer coming out?
We had one for TFA this time last year
>>
>>88819728
I'm guessing a few months. When the first TFA trailer hit, we didn't have much to tide people over- right now we're still going down from the Rogue One marketing, so they're probably going to wait a while before starting the push for 8 hype.

Hopefully before SW Celebration

Reading Star Wars comic. It's not as good as Vader one but still better than I expected, people shitted on it far to much.

>>88819793
I'd guess we get one trailer a few weeks/around one month before Celebration, sort of like the "teaser" we got for Rogue One. And then during Celebration they release a proper full fledged trailer.

Let me correct you: The Empire is modeled off Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Soviet Union, Imperial Rome, Byzantine Empire and most importantly is the United States. The Empire is closer to the US than many of those I listed. Palpatine is based off Nixon and the entirety of the Empire is a "what-if Nixon got emergency powers?"
