The ghost only takes him back to the beginning of the countdown. That he says 9 more ghosts will visit means each new ghost will take him to a different number in the countdown. It's tedious and meaningless, which is a funny subversion of the expectation.

It's a play on A Christmas Carol, wherein the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future take Scrooge through time to show him past, present and future Christmasses and remind him of the spirit of giving and good will. But New Year's isn't about that. It's just about the year changing. It's silly that Reginald is bah humbugging about it at all, and it's made sillier by a ghost taking him back to show him the meaning of New Year's, which is just the countdown again.

So cold liquids transform them into the fountain they fell into, and warm water turns them back. so if you spill warm jizz on girl type ranma, will she turn into boy-type ranma?
