It's clear that Meti's experiences caused her to grow more callous towards the sword, rather than being raised as some great warrior, or a polished general who is probably surrounded in the idea of being some glorious sword master with gleaming blades, she clearly had that mentality as she grew up, a bright eyed idealist towards the greatness of the sword, and then she got her shit kicked in and realized a sword isn't really all that great, and as she grew and became the master of cutting she truly saw what a sword was and what being a swordfighter was, a foolish thing seeped in blood and violence without anything to really show for it in the end.
