Just my personal feelings on it. Lunafreya wasn't so much a woman of action. She did a lot of important stuff for Noctis but the atory didn't allow her to do much. Aranea on the other hand was already an excellent fighter who commanded the respect of her men, but she did even more across the ten years of the story. I just feel like Allura would be more dragoon than summoner.

Let's say the writers are going to shoehorn romance in, which couples would make the most sense?

I'm thinking Pidge/Lance, Shiro/Keith honestly and Hunk would support either couples. Allura is voltronsexual.
Pidge/Lance would work as the funny couple but that won't be possible as it'll only be comedy relief.
Shiro can't be paired with Allura because as it is right now, he sees Allura as somewhat of a leader or mentor. Keith is the only person whi he has a mutual understanding with so I can see character development happening along with romance. If theories about Keith being galra is true, then it makes sense that Shiro will be Keith's support.

I'm a pance shipper but I just don't see it becoming canon at all. Unless they introduce a new character for her, I expect Pidge to stay unaffiliated. The age gap doesn't bother me, but I bet it's just enough of a barrier for the writers.

Probably they'll keep Hunk with Shay because god forbid the fat guy have a love interest who's actually a main character.

I think Shiro/Allura is probably the most likely after Hunk/Shay, based on the scene where they're doing action hero stuff on that galra ship, and then Allura sacrificing herself to save Shiro.

And I hate to say it, but I think Klance honestly might wind up panning out. I'm not a fan of it and I doubt I ever will be, but I just get that vibe based on the sheer amount of focus given to their scenes together. I hope I'm wrong.

As for making the most sense, I agree with Shiro/Keith, they have that mysterious shared backstory and I'm rooting for them.
