The plot was a convoluted mess, the characters all looked like fucking tools, the entire fight was contrived as hell, and the death of Superman carried no dramatic weight whatsoever.

What did Lex even want from them fighting?

He manipulates Batman in hating Superman, which he already did for blowing up his building and vivid nightmares of Supes destroying the world/killing him violently, Brings the kryptonite for him to steal, makes Superman dislike Batman by killing thugs marked with the bat brand (Do they ever address that Batman wants them to die because of the mark or was that just something he didn't know about when branding them?) in the Gotham prisons, holds Martha Kent hostage but also in the area so Superman could've maybe found her by looking around, then Lex forces them to fight when Superman could've easily said "He's got my mom, Lex is behind everything" before Batman did anything then that would end the entire work of Lex manipulating them for a year, who did Lex want to win?

Did he want Superman to win? Why did he give the kryptonite to Batman? He looked really disappointed that Superman didn't have Batman's corpse so I guess Batman was suppose to die? Why did Lex want Batman dead?

Zack Snyder movies are much, much worse than Michael Bay movies. Michael Bay movies know exactly what they are, dumb action schlock. Zack Snyder movies are dumb action schlock that have the audacity to think themselves brilliant.

Exactly. CW isn't a perfect movie but I at least knew the characters and Tony ignoring Cap at the end made sense because Bucky killed his mother and Cap covered it up. Tony lashing out and trying to hurt Steve by insulting him and saying he didn't deserve the shield felt pretty human too.

It worked because we had a previously established relationship between these characters that had been built over previous films that were broadly liked.

I didn't like Supes at the end of MoS and I actively dislike him now, after BvS. I hate this Batman and I don't care about WW.

To be fair, part of Spider-man's character is that he never knows when to stfu, so it makes sense for him to have lots of lines.

But you're spot on with your other point. Snyder is too busy pushing the characters as archetypal ciphers to actually make them endearing in any way. That's why it's so damn hilarious when people argue he's humanizing Superman; he's just made the character an even bigger symbol, just for different things than usual.

Superman says 453 words- that is about 2 and a half minutes of dialogue, for a titular character, in a film that is 2 and a half hours long. One of his words is "Aaaaggggghhhhh". Arnie had 200 words more in T2 and he barely says anything.

It didn't matter who won. The point was to prove he could take down a God. If Batman dies, Lex just forced God to do his bidding like a little bitch. If Superman died, it was because Lex engineered his death. He wins either way.

The only flaw in his plan was that he, in his hubris and twisted way of looking at the world couldn't imagine a third option where the two would put away their differences and work together to take him down. Friendship and cooperation are alien concepts to Luthor because to him, everything is about power and being on top, and you can never share power without making yourself automatically weaker in the process as that implies you couldn't do it yourself.
