>>
>>88766043
They've put themselves in a tough spot because people are expecting Snoke's identity to be a twist now. If he's just a new character people will be let down, but if he's a character we've seen before it will be convoluted and dumb.

The few people it makes sense for him to be aren't even well-known to casual fans so the reveal of who Snoke is will fall flat no matter what

The mystery box was a mistake.

There is no value in that stupid method of storytelling. It hamstrung TFA, because we weren't privy to absolutely crucial pieces of worldbuilding (how did the FO grow so powerful when they are based on the galactic fringe, where did Snoke come from and how they ended up in charge, how did he turn Kylo, what was Luke doing all these years) and character groundwork (Rey's background, Kylo's motivation). Everything was so hush-hush for the sequels that TFA comes across as a much leaner movie that it really is.

I still like Kylo and Rey. But as much as I enjoy them, they still are just merely a rough draft as of now. It's aggravating. Because of the mystery box, instead of a grand introduction to a new era of Star Wars, TFA was just an overly cautious set-up for the heavy lifting the next movie will have to take care of.

And once VIII and IX finally fills in the blanks we'll just get an endless cacophony of whining because of the ruined headcanons. HOW COME SNOKE IS DONUT STEEL, IT WAS PLAGUEIS FOR SURE/HOW COME REY IS LITERALLY NO ONE, SHE WAS LUKE'S DAUGHTER FOR SURE

All for a couple of months of cheap buzz post-TFA and manufactured hype leading up to VIII. And the worst thing is, they should know better. Was there a single franchise where the mystery box worked?
>>
>>88766201
Same thing with Luke's lightsaber

There is no way to explain how Maz got it that doesn't suck, and yet they've built up expectations that they will eventually explain it

What if Star Wars was crossed over with The Wizard of Oz?
>>
>>88766201
It's kind of frustrating because there's characters in TFA that I want to like but I'm not feeling it because there's this sense of "well, let's see what their story is." Finn was done well in that regard- sure, his backstory and characterization needed some work, but it was clear what he was about, what his story was, and that was presented to us without any great mystery. We had a clear idea of who he was and where he fit in and could form a reasoned opinion about him as a character.

With someone like Rey and Kylo, not as much. I get that there's stuff that shouldn't be revealed too early, but here they revealed very little. We don't really get a clear idea of what their stories are, we just see parts of it. We know Rey is important but nobody felt like even hinting as to why, she just is. We know Kylo turned evil because of his grandpa, but it can't be that simple, just what the hell did Snoke say to him? And Snoke... without any further information he just comes across as Palpatine 2. I'm sure he isn't and there's probably more to him but they gave us basically nothing, except that he's an evil Force wielder who controls a new version of the Empire.

They still won't even talk about who the Knights of Ren are and what makes them different from the Sith.
>>
>>88766219
What's frustrating is that they actually point this out
>Hey why do you have that
>GREAT QUESTION, BUT SORRY, WE HAVE TO SAVE THAT MYSTERY FOR LATER, WINK WINK
>>
>>88766263
And the only real answer to that "mystery" is this

>it fell into one of the cloud city vents
>some janitor found it
>he sold it
>it changed hands a few times
>by the will of the force it ended up in maz's castle

That's it. That's all it could be.
>>
>>88765844
There's something I appreciate about Star Wars tech being super advanced, but not crazy outlandish at the same time. I'm usually not a fan of "muh realism", but I appreciate ships being something that you can live in over something crazy like mass-shifting robots, time travel, etc.
>>
>>88766255
Agreed completely

Episode 8 may redeem TFA retroactively, but it will never make it more rewatchable

In the future when people are going through the saga they'll likely watch TFA once and only once, that's really all you need

Their fear of referencing the prequel era has cost them greatly. Snoke being Plagueis makes perfect sense and they passed it up.

Could have had a scene in 8 or 9 where Luke accuses Snoke of being a sith and he whistfully replies
>Sith? No...not for a very long time.
>>
>>88766277
No film is ever redeemed retroactively, either you hit or miss. BvS didn't redeem MoS.

I don't expect TFA2 to redeem TFA, they will just gloss over the plotholes with smoke and mirrors, especially now that Fisher's dead.

I'm only now realizing how badly I want Mace to return

but only as a brain-in-a-jar type. His electrocuted body fell deep into the lower levels of Coruscant where some shady underworld types found him barely clinging to life, but his body completely broken.

Not Snoke, just a fucked up scrap of what he used to be to explain his absence from the galactic stage, consigned to a fate even worse than what Anakin got

It just seems right for him to come back or have some larger role for pottery purposes. He was one of the 3 there on that fateful night in the chancellor's office when it all went wrong. Hell, for a second he probably thought HE was the chosen one since he was about to end the Sith.
>>
>>88766483
I doubt he thought he was the chosen one, but I wouldn't be surprised if he saw some "shatterpoint" at that moment or whatever. He regretted not taking the opportunity to kill dooku on Geonosis, so now he knew he won't do the same mistake again.

My autism has paid off. The question of how long the Falcon was travelling between Hoth and Bespin is closer to an answer.

On the Canon section of the wook, it says the Falcon has on-board consumables to last 2 months for a minimum crew of 2. So the flight to Bespin couldn't have taken much longer than 2 months, or they would have starved.

rationing could make that last longer, they also may not have been able to get that amount of supplies on the Falcon by the time it took off. Also what is the source for that info.

The Republic in TFA has no right to rule if they allowed an entire lost generation of hundreds of thousands or millions of children to be abducted and put into forced labor and military service.

They know The First Order exists, they know it has Sith working for them, but the only force opposing them is Leia's PMC with a few hundred servicemen and 15 fighters. Fuck the New Republic.

Eesh, I forgot how cringey the dialogue in AOTC was. It's kind of understandable - an arrogant teen who hasn't seen a girl since he was taken into the order of asexual wizard monks blurts out awkward things because he doesn't know how to express his forbidden feelings - but still.

Like all the PT, it is actually a very good solid story that just gets spoiled by bad dialogue writing. But of the three movies, the second one seems to have suffered from this the most.

You assume the covering shrouds are the emitters. In addition do we ever see any instance of lightsabers sliding along the blade of another when they meet?
>and would pose just as much if not more of a danger to the user as to their opponent.
How is that any different from any other lightsaber? If the user is dexterous and experienced enough to not kill themselves with a normal lightsaber then they should easily be able to use any other one.

The A wing does just that, but apparently a similarly sized fully dedicated flight computer isn't as good as a multi-use droid with some semblance of free will.

That still doesn't explain why it seems that nearly every ship uses what seems to be a single companys product.

The Republic didn't have a military before the Clone Wars, but then they suddenly had. We know where the clones came from. But where did all the vehicles and starships came from? It can't be just individual systems lending their military stuff to the Republic, it's all too uniform. And all the Venators and Walkers don't have anything Kaminoan in their design, so they are unlikely to have come with the clones.

There have always been munitions dealers and weapons manufacturers. Some planets in and out of the Republic (The Republic didn't actually make up the whole galaxy) had their own militaries and defense forces. Someone had to make their weapons. More than likely, when the Clone army was commissioned they hired out defense contractors to arm the Clones and build their ships and walkers. That shit took ten years to build keep in mind, they didn't have the ships overnight.

That can't be right. It's true that most worlds are not very densely populated, but there's still gotta be A LOT more people in the galaxy that 4 Earths. More like 4 thousand Earths.
Coruscant alone is 1 trillion. Alderaan was 2 billion, for instance, and there are many worlds like that.
>>
>>88768621
Planets like Kuat were near the core of the galaxy and I'm sure they would immediately accept the opportunity to help the Republic build a fleet for lots of money. As far as timing goes it wouldn't surprise me if it took a day on Kuat to build a Star Destroyer so imagine over the few days since Obi-Wan goes to Kamino the Kaninoans call up Just and give them sufficient evidence (as provides by Sheev) that a war is brewing and that if they build a fleet asap to take Geonosis the Republic had a 99.9% chance of hiring them immediately anyways. Spread out likely thousands of Star Destroyer factories all over Kuat and boom you have a big enough fleet to take Geonosis and a formal fleet coming right up.
>>
>>88768698
The inital clone force's eqipument at the battle of Geonosis was from Kuat, they made the LAATS and ATTEs and Acclamators and what not, Kuat's entire business is building huge starships

>>
>>88769190
>the atmosphere is artifical
You don't seem to understand. The planet simply cannot hold that much of an atmosphere. the surface of the planet would literally be in space, far exceeding the upperlimits of the atmosphere the planet itself can contain.

So unless the planet is covered in machines pumping out breathable air (again further increasing the density of the livable areas to even higher levels, we're talking tens of millions of people per square kilometer at this point) and wasting massive amounts of resources, or covering the planet in an atmosphere containing bubble, which we know it doesn't, it is impossible for the buildings to be that tall.

When Hego Damask contracted the clone army as the primary financial backer for Syfo-Dias's order, he subcontracted the equipment with Rothara Heavy Industries at the same time. It also covered why the Senate or the Jedi never found out a thing about the creation of this army or anything else about it: none of the money came from the Republic at all, it was al financed through Damask Holdings and the Banking Clan.

How many Acclamators and LAATs were on Geonosis? I can imagine the final scene of AOTC being a few weeks, maybe a month or so after Geonosis considering Anakin's new arm, etc.

And Acclamators are way smaller than ISDs or even VSDs or Venators so I imagine they were faster/cheaper to build. Maybe the Republic already have a few dozen/hundred around.

Maybe every clone, but not all their stuff. I don't recall anything in TCW suggesting the Army of the Republic was running short on materiel, just personnel because the clones took too long to mature and train. If the construction on their gear and vehicles began 8 years or more prior to the outbreak of hostilities, there'd be a gigantic amount of stuff stashed away compared to how many clones were available to use it. In Legends, the Empire ends up having the same problem: tons and tons of equipment and not enough personnel, like the inability to fully crew ISDs because ship production outpaced the academies training schedule.

I got a bit confused there, so I did some maths.

The area of the Earth is 510,100,000 km^2. Let's assume that Coruscant is the same.
The population density of Monaco, according to >>88768998, is 25,718 people per km^2, although wikipedia says it's only 18,713 people per km^2. But alright, let's go with 25,718 people per km^2.

If Coruscant population was 1 trillion, its population density would be about 1960 people per km^2 - less than both the above estimates for Monaco. Which I find less believable, because as dense as it is, Monaco isn't thousands of levels high, unlike Coruscant.

80 trillion, on the other hand, would make it about 156,832 people per km^2 (I dunno where >>88768998 got 221,000 from), which is just about 6 times larger than Monaco's (going by the weird 25,718 people per km^2 estimate). In other words, it's like if the entire Coruscant was covered with Monacos stacked upon each other 6 times. Rest assured, in reality Coruscant's levels stretch way higher than just 6 Monacos on top each other. So even 80 trillion may not be enough.

Let's say that Coruscant levels are like New York City. NYC is 10,831 people per km^2. That would make Corucant, if it's density was 156,832 people per km^2, like 14 or 15 NYCs stacked upon each other. That's not so hard to believe, especially since the lower the level, the more area the buildings take place, because they have to be bigger to support the higher levels, and also the poorer the population is, so they live in smaller rooms, which allows for higher density.

My maths can be wrong, of course, but I don't see what's so unbelievable about Coruscant's population being 80,000,000,000,000 people. If anything, this number is too small for Coruscant.

unfortunately the planet doesn';t hsave enough of an atmosphere to support that, not to mention a lack of ability to take in and ship out the amount of supplies and waste needed to support a population that size.

Coruscant, simply put, cannot exist in any way as it is described.
>>
>>88770610
Considering that the city I live in is around 20-40k/km2 AND there's actually a lot of rural farmland here, yeah. I'd say maybe at least 100t or even the next level for Coruscant and other hive cities.

Probably not though given that IIRC it barely pens what it was supposed to back in the day, let alone modern armour.

Coruscant's atmosphere is heavily controlled, at least in terms of weather, by artificial systems. It's likely they keep it oxygenated as well.

Granted, Tatooine should not have an oxygen atmosphere, since most oxygen is produced in oceans. Maybe it's also artificial oxygenation. Maybe, if we're wondering how they eat and breathe, we should keep in mind it's just a show and just relax.

We don't write thesis articles about how stuff works. We write epic backstories about a random background character and their adventures and how they met this historical character or that ancestor of a main character and taught them an obscure skill that they then teach to a mian character in one of the movies.

Star Wars is epic fantasy, not ultra-logical simulationist science fiction.

212th Attack Battalion (Cody's guys) had the same armor but with different markings

the battlefront 2 sharpshooters are from 5th Fleet Security

in fact, every class in battlefront 2 has a background. The jet trooper with the green visor for instance, is a concept art version of 501st Appo. The overall look was later adopted for Gree though, minus the jetpack and white/blue color scheme.

The clone engineer is an interesting case. He's obviously from the 7th legion judging by his beige coffee stain markings, but it's hard to say if he's just a regular 7th legion trooper or whether or not the model was directly inspired by concept art for Commander Faie (minus the cloth pieces). I think it's Pandemics own hybrid, meant to look like basic clone. As far as official concept art goes, I think the helmet itself has only ever been seen on Faie.

the clone commander is obviously a galactic marine, but I'm not sure what the heavy trooper is supposed to be. Could be 41st or just a regular white clone.

If they hadn't made him as weak and old as he ended up being, it would've been great to see him at Scarif fighting with the rest of the R1 crew.

He does kinda feel unnecessary in the final cut, since his role is so short and rushed, but it's good to see a more extremist version of the rebellion.

A not thought out villain judging by the movie. They honestly should've just come up with something that isn't related to the Empire.

Or at least they should've not given the remnants a brand new not!Death Star. I wouldn't even mind if they bullshitted their way into finding some of those prototype SSDs the Empire had in production before it fell to take out those planets.

I don't recall Filoni saying that during the panel. What he DID say is that Ahsoka believes a lot of what Barriss says about the Jedi, and has a distrust of the political aspect of the Order.

Filoni did say he had plans for Barriss, but he never said he had specific plans to have to two meet again.

And I definitely could ask them about and of the other films and they could name what happens.

I'll put it this way.

At this point I HOPE Snoke is someone we already know or not who he appears to be if only so we can call him something other than Snoke. It is so incredibly hard to talk about him seducing people's sons in tense, dramatic scenes and not burst out laughing.

I'd want him to return just to bring back his purple lightsaber into the toy line

Do I need to read other comics while I continue Vader one? Diddn't it cross with others at some point (and do I need ot read more of those what crossed to get what is going on?)

>The emotional distress of losing a loved one can trigger broken heart syndrome, a recognised medical condition that disproportionately affects women and can be fatal.

>"A broken heart really is an event where the heart ceases to function normally and is prone to heart rhythm abnormalities," said Dr. Mark Creager, director of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Heart and Vascular Center in New Hampshire and past president of the American Heart Association. "That term is used to explain a very real phenomenon that does occur in patients who have been exposed to sudden emotional stress or extremely devastating circumstances."

People who ridiculed Ep III because of this apologise, now.

A dialogue is between two or more people. A line is spoken by one, either in contribution towards a dialogue or in monologue. This same thing can be found in the Prequels, where characters more verbally communicate their thoughts and feelings in Eastern fashion rather than subtly imply it as we would in the West.

You act as though this is unknown to everyone. It's nowhere near unheard of for people to die of depression.

It certainly helps throughout however for Vader Down you'll be required if you want the full story.

I'm reading the main Star Wars line and Darth Vader simultaneously in chronological order. It helps, because the two storylines intertwine.

Debbie was neither pregnant with twins nor almost choked to death recently.

I'm ashamed that I never considered that part before, but it's true. Her life's work went to shit and there was absolutely nothing she could do about it. The vast majority of her colleagues openly welcoming it (albeit misguidedly) was a huge helping of salt in the wound too no doubt.

What do you suppose are the chances they'll rewrite Billie Lourd's character to be Leia and Han's daughter? Is there room for it? I haven't read Bloodlines yet.

Why did they assign a padawan to Anakin, who himself was a padawan less than a year ago, but didn't give one to Obi-Wan, who was now free to take a new pupil? In a war you'd need all the resources you can get.

Also, now that the old Clone Wars are non-canon, we don't have yet a canonical depiction of Anakin becoming a Knight, or their first meeting with Ventress anymore?

Considering that TCW starts a few months after the first battle of Geonosis, there is room for those scenes from the old series to fit in.
But they're not canon any more, so you're right, there is no canon showing of Anakin being knighted or meeting Ventress for the first time.
>>
>>88775420
This is why "canon until contradicted by new material" would have been a better approach.
>>
>>88766237
>>88769634
Correction, Farm Girl would be Luke and Mara's lovechild in a way.

>Why did they assign a padawan to Anakin, who himself was a padawan less than a year ago, but didn't give one to Obi-Wan, who was now free to take a new pupil?
Not enough younglings to go around? Think about it, the number of padawans available must have been a lot less then the number of jedi. Everyone probably had to take their turns.
>>
>>88775351
What if she is Leia and Luke's daughter which began before they even learned they were related?
>>
>>88775546
Then surely Obi-Wan, being an older and more experienced (and less reckless) Jedi, would take priority over Anakin in the list of available masters?
>>
>>88775611
I'm pretty sure the point of Anakin getting one was for him to become less reckless and for Ahsoka to learn a bit more humility in the process.
Heck Obi-Wan thought she was his Padawan at first.

And here I always thought Jedi would pick their Padawan learners themselves.
>>
>>88773842
They were bad because of that. That little move obi wan does is also stupid, shame they only made it worse
>>
>>88775611
No, it was Yoda's idea I think. He suggested Anakin to take her so he'd have some responsibility.

That's almost exactly what they were doing until 2014. People tended to get angry when the stories they grew to think of as canon were overridden by newer stories.

>>88775514
Thanks. Is there a month-by-month timeline of TCW somewhere?

I still think they probably do most of the time

And in the end she leaves and causes Anakin to be even more suspicable to the Dark Side
You can honestly not even tell who is ultimately at fault here
