He does good work and frankly he's wise enough to know (more often than not) know when to pander to fans and, more importantly, when not to.

I think he more often than not tries to tell the story as the story makes sense rather than necessarily give people what they want. Seems like a humble enough guy, always makes certain to give credit where it is due by bringing up the rest of the staff, and he has a sense of humor. The thing is they're moving faster than light. The distance between the shield and surface of the planet is too small for someone to be able to decelerate from lightspeed the way they did. We're talking about a fraction of a fraction of the time it takes to blink an eye and you're pancaked into the planet. Even if a droid is strong or fast enough the time it takes to physically move the lever would be too much.

But if they do it as you suggest, where gravity miraculously decelerates you on its own by kicking you out of hyperspace, then that's a huge design oversight.

The thing is it is meant to be impossible with Han succeeding because, you know, he's Han. Skill, pure grit, Corellian Overdrive, luck. It's actually easy enough to overlook, even if it's a bit irksome like everyone in the galaxy, apparently, able to see the Starkiller death shot (they handwave it as a quirky hyperspace effect).

I guess what bugs me isn't just that scene but how Han and Finn's conversation ends just conveniently in time to decelerate. Just as, apparently, Poe and his team were somehow hovering in hyperspace until they received confirmation that the shield was down then they immediately decelerate.

Something about how that JJ sets this (and more) up just rubs me the wrong way. It's not so much that he's shit at editing, it is that he tells stories with an overt feeling of narrative convenience driving everything and he absolutely CANNOT do subtle. He just can't space things out a little bit to make them sensible, like Poe and the others waiting in a nearby system (they already knew Starkiller's location after all) and just awaiting confirmation to do a short hyperspace jump.

The role Anakin of the arc is great, but I'm just mad that it's just a teenage rebellion of Ahsoka very badly written.

First episode she was calling out herself, saying "Running away just puts you into a worse position" to the wife of bomberman, then proceeds to run away constantly in every episode from then on. Vader's style in Rebels is more OT-inspired because of how he swings, not the speed of the swings. In Rebels, each and every blow is calculated, and heavy as fuck. Furthermore, he never actually stops swinging. Even after his opponent blocks the strike, he's still laying into them -- he doesn't pick his blade back up and try again from another angle, he keeps pushing inwards trying to force the other lightsaber out of the way. The increased physicality of his fighting style, trying to overpower his opponent with his weight, height, and strength, is a hallmark of how they had him fight in the OT.

Ahsoka moves like Yoda does in the PT, flips and spins and hopping around like a bunny rabbit as she swings her swords around like a ballet dancer. That's the hallmark of PT-style fighting, moving as though you're dancing with your opponent instead of trying to cave their skull in with a weapon. Observe how much heavier Vader's strikes are, how much more calculated and lethal all of them are. His #1 goal in the fight is getting Ahsoka to stay so much of the defensive that she can't start jumping around him and overwhelm him because she's h-hayai

It's basically a fight between PT and OT fighting styles.

We're talking about duels here, not killing civvies. The films use very different choreography for the two situations and we both know this. A more fair comparison between duel choreography in Anakin/Vader in PT vs OT is hi duel with Obi Wan or Dooku vs OT/Rebels.
