Pretty much this with a dash of personal butthurt from the fact that Diablo and Mad Thinker were both unceremoniously killed off right on the heels of the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes getting killed off just a couple months prior.

Like, I get the logic behind "Doom is going after all the super-villains he's worked with before" and most of those being F4 villains because that's the people he worked with the most... but it just feels like Marvel's (ie Perlmutter's) continued scorched Earth tactic on the F4.
