Why was everybody so bothered by this line?
>>
He doesn't.
>>
>Implying anyone on /co/ is old enough to have watched this before it was on DVD.
>>
Because it's a bad movie.
>>
>>88725474
This should have been the setup to the extended universe, damn shame.
>>
>>88726176
They tried actually but couldn't get it going. DC/WB was trying to do an extended Universe years before Marvel Studios
>>
>>88725498
I'm old enough to remember when it was in theaters.

>Batman and Robin
That's probably the least thing in this movie to be bothered with where it shouldn't even phase you.
>>
>>88725498
I saw this in theaters bro.
>>
>>88729556
Take two and call me in the morning.
>>
>>88727322
Which is what makes it so sad that Marvel has mopped the floor with them. Warner Bros had no rights issues regarding the characters like Marvel did and still they got it going first and did it better.
>>
>>88725474
No one was bothered by that line at all. You literally just made it up to start a shitty thread.
>>
>>88725498
You mean blu-ray. Anyone who watched it in theaters has long since abandoned this place.
>>
>>88730225
>Anyone who watched it in theaters has long since abandoned this place.
>>
>>88730225

I saw it in theaters.I was 7 years old.
It was the first time I realized movies could be bad.
>>
>>88729556
good thru: forever will never not be funny

>>
>>88725498
I saw this shit in theaters. I enjoyed it as only a kid could. for a time it was the worst Batman Movie ever made. now I enjoy it for the schlocky camp and Arnie's one liners.
>>
>>88729594
>tfw only remember seeing this was because I was 6 and two face and the riddler scared me so I spent most of the movie near tears and holding my uncle's hand while adamantly denying I was scared

I didn't need this cringe.
>>
>>88730753
>Batman you fucker your card expired last movie!
>>
>>88725498

Au contraire. I remember the rumors over who would take Val's place. I remember how it was hyped to no end in Disney Adventures. I remember the toys. And I remember the bad reviews.
>>
>>88730753
>good thru: forever

>batman gets all his money stolen because he never upgraded to a chip card

Who, who is bothered by this? Theres A LOT more to bitch about in this movie
>>
Why would this be bothersome?
>>
>>88731975
>implying chip cards are any more secure
>>
>>88732023
only thing I've ever heard that kinda makes some sense is that it hinted at a larger interconnected universe of movies that might lead to a Justice League movie. then we never got it.

>Which is what makes it so sad that Marvel has mopped the floor with them. Warner Bros had no rights issues regarding the characters like Marvel did and still they got it going first and did it better.

Yup, Marvel Studios turned a bunch characters that nobody that was not a comic book nerd cared about into Pop culture icons.

DC/WB has a roster of Superheroes that always have been Pop culture icons almost since their inception and they still couldn't pull the shared universe that makes millions trick.

They even had a similar "shared universe" before Marvel, the DCAU/Timmverse was the perfect template of how to do it.
>>
>>88732067
I think we dodged a bullet on that one. Still I'll give credit where credit is due, B&R/Forever had a kickass looking Gotham City. Could have been a bit more depressing, but the giant statues were cool.
>>
No, he said "wears cologne"
>>
>>88732097
I think that DC's characters are already popular is part of the problem. No one cares that they've fucked up every Iron Man villain because no one gives a shit about Iron Man villains, but fuck up Lex Luthor and the Joker and everyone will cried about it.
>>
>>88732097

The problem is the act that they already ARE pop culture icons.

Look at BvS: WB thought that simply because its "Batman fighting Superman" that they wouldn't have to actually do any work and coast on name recognition alone.
>>
>>88732232

solid point. I certainly don't care that they fucked up the Mandarin.
>>
>>88725498
I'm old enough to remember when Keaton was Batman in theaters.
>>
>>88732603
same. I remember the McDonalds Toys from Batman Returns.
>>
>>88732286
I still find it pathetic that BvS didn't even crack a billion, it goes to show how bad WB fucked it up by having people like Snyder behind the camera
>>
>>88732660

I had the Penguin and Catwoman ones.

>>88732694

Indeed. Will be interesting to see how unscathed WW is(n't).
>>
People take Batman way too seriously.
>>
>>88732121
>B&R/Forever had a kickass looking Gotham City.

It felt very comic booky to me as a kid. Which was strange considering I had never read a comic until my 20s.
>>
>>88732758
Actually come to think of it, the giant statues might have worked better for Metropolis
>>
>>88732603
>tfw you tuned into the same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel for new episodes when you were a kid
>>
>>88732791
Aren't they supposed to be sister cities?
>>
>>88732901

Yes. And only a few miles apart.
>>
>>88732901
Yeah, but Im not certain how close they are in relation to one another. Certainly "an hour drive away" close like in BvS
>>
>>88732943
Generally in modern stuff Gotham is in New Jersey and Metropolis is around Delaware/Pennsylvania
>>
>>88732134
No, he said "I love lasagna!"

>>
>>88732730
I had Batman's before the toyline was pulled. one thing I always wanted were those nice glass mugs the had for the Batman movies. I think there were Flintstones ones too. They're probably crap glass mugs but fuck it if I didn't want them.
>>
>>88732997
This. I remember reading in a DC Comics encyclopedia-type book that Gotham was modeled after Atlantic City and Metropolis was supposed to be Washington, DC.

Now, however, Metropolis is modeled after NYC during the day, and likewise Gotham is NYC at night.
>>
>>88732871
I watched that shit all the time. only on like TV Land reruns not the original airings.
>>
>>88725498
>tfw turning 30 in 4 months
At least I'm not a virgin I guess
>>
>>88725498
I still have the VHS somewhere.
>>
>>88733111
>>88732997

I always thought Metropolis was based off of Toronto.
>>
>>88733920
I am a 30 year old virgin and I didn't get any wizard powers.

I did learn a powerful lesson though: life is pure disappointment.

Anyway, I had the cool Batmobile toy that launched a smaller Batmobile. I feel like that was the best Happy Meal toy of my childhood besides the BTTF DeLorean toy that shots out sparks.
>>
>>88734807
Not sure about that whole city but the Daily Planet is based on two Canadian newspapers
>>
>>88734807
Original Metropolis is a combination of Toronto and Cleveland. And is even specifically named as Cleveland in original drafts of the pages that eventually appear in Action Comics #1. Since then it's been a grab bag of various cities depending on the era and medium. DCEU Metropolis is Chicago, Vancouver, and Detroit dropped in the Chesapeake Bay

>>88732694
The problem is Warner Bros. They've spent a good portion of the 90s and 00s professionally losing buckets of money on bad movies, mostly cape, action, and historical epics.

90s

>Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), 5 Razzie nominations
>Nothing But Trouble (1991), 6 Razzie nominations, 1 win
>Batman and Robin (1997), of course, 11 Razzie nominations, 1 win
>Kevin Costner's The Postman (1997), 6 Razzie nominations and 5 wins, also notable for losing WB $71 million
>The Avengers (1998, the British TV series adaptation), 9 Razzie nominations, 1 win
>Wild Wild West (1999), which despite being an absolute masterpiece, got 9 Razzie nominations and 5 wins
I know it's from /tv/ but if anyone here has screencaps of the story about why there's a giant spider in Wild Wild West, it's an amazingly retarded story

00s

>Battlefield Earth (2000), 8 Razzie nominations, 7 wins
>Red Planet (2000), which lost a pretty impressive $63 million
2002 brought us two absolute WB masterpieces
>The Adventures of Pluto Nash (with Eddie Murphy) somehow got a big enough budget to lose $96 million
>Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever also somehow lost $70 million
>Gods and Generals (2003)
>Alexander (2004) lost $71 million, and blessed us with that hilarious Rosario Dawson sex scene
>Catwoman (2004) of course, 7 Razzie nominations and 4 wins
>Poseidon (2006), 1 Razzie nomination, lost $69 million

WB had been a pretty dysfunctional studio for a decade while Marvel properties (albeit through Fox and Sony) got huge, and Marvel Studios planned the MCU, it's no wonder they couldn't get their shit together. They were about as bad a film studio then as Sony Pictures or Lionsgate is today.

I'd say they've arguably improved now because they're actually making a shared universe but Tsujihara and Deborah Snyder are still making decisions
>>
>>88725498
I remember being too much of a poorfag to watch it in theaters, but when it came out on VHS, I remember watching it the first time my parents thought it was okay for me to be in the house by myself.
>>
>>88725474
Brandon Ralf Superman VS George Cluny Batman, who wins?
>>
>>88735077
>tfw I actually like both "The Postman" and "WaterWorld".

Sure, would have been better in the Adam West series, but still, only good part of the movie. WTF you're talking about?
>>

>>
>>88732603
I saw the '66 movie in the theater.

Brad Pitt or Ben Affleck.
>>
>>88738128
Me, too. I felt ripped of because I expected the 1989-Version, but I was like 6 so my complains went unheard.

Honestly, reading The Postman premise on wikipedia seems like the movie could be interesting. Like I nice turn on the typical post-apocalyptic movie.
Is it really that bad?
>>
>>88731967
>I remember how it was hyped to no end in Disney Adventures.
Aww shit, I had that issue too! That was the first time I learned anything about the '60s TV show. They had an interview with Adam West, I remember him saying that he considered Catwoman Batman's most dangerous enemy because "she's seductive, so you had to watch out around her", and thinking that the photos of the Batmobile, Batgirl and the Riddler (pic related) looked so fucking cool.
>>
>>88733098
>They're probably crap glass mugs but fuck it if I didn't want them.
I have a couple, they're actually pretty quality. They chill really nicely too.
>>
>>88734834
Those, and the Power Rangers & Zords that came out with the movies. They couldn't combine, but I'd stack the Zords together like a human pyramid to form the "Megazord" and the figures themselves were until recently the only toys actually based on the Movie suits, with all the molded details.
>>
>>88729556
I wanted this as a kid, as a teenager and even until now. The design's cool, despite the crappy scene.
>>
>>88732232
This is actually pretty good as an opinion. I think I'll borrow it.
>>
>>88729556
>>
Everyone is not AVGN
>>
>>88730185
Its pretty clear that WB has no idea what to do with its DC properties. All the scripts to the never-made DC films prove that their handful of good films are the exception to the rule.
>>
>>88726176
It's obviously what they were going for. Metropolis was mentioned in the previous movie, too. Superman was clearly a thing in the Schumacher duology.
>>
>>88730225
You're a funny one, kiddo.
>>
>>88725498
I remember my parents renting it on VHS for my birthday and me getting what I think has to be my first boner at Poison Ivy.
>>
>>88730185
Marvel was desperate so they took a big risk. DC figured they had all the time in the world.
>>
>>88730185
Not sure about you but an extended universe with that version of Batman, dead Joker and Nicolas Cage Supes is not one i want. I'll gladly take what we have now over that shit.
>>
>>88741992
Actually, AVGN likes Batman & Robin. He's the first internet criticism personality I recall having the balls to say so.

Only Doug.
>>
>>88740336
I actually liked that S:TAS Superman wasn't OP/was still developing his powers and still had to ask Star Labs for help like designing a space suit and shit. I felt it was a good decision for a standalone Superman series, made his supporting cast not feel useless
>>
>>88732031
Using a chip is more secure than swiping.
>>
>>88733111
>Metropolis was supposed to be Washington, DC.

Every iteration of Metropolis I've seen has had skyscrapers. DC doesn't have skyscrapers, by law.
>>
>>88730225
I watched in theaters, I grew up on watching Adam west batman's, and had no knowledge of the burton films. So I enjoyed it.
>>
>>88732232
Y'know, that's a...really good point. The only time Marvel ever really got heat in this category was when they fucked up Ultron and even that was relatively small compared to the complaining about Lex and Joker.
>>
>>88740336
>WHY THE HELL WAS HE IN A SPACE SUIT

They overdid the post-Crisis depowering. An oxygen mask was more than enough in the comics, and even then it was only needed for multi-hour space trips.
>>
>>88731967
Yeah, I had a Disney Adventures Batman and Robin issue, I remember reading that Clooney crashed the Batmobile and they stopped letting him drive it.
