The beginning has a lot of weird monster of the week episodes that are actually really good, but there's also dumb romance and all that. Still I like it because it's very "grounded" overall and it's mostly a highschool story.


I think after season 3-4 it becomes more about supowerpowers and comic style which fits with Clark growing up and all that.

It's not perfect by any means and the romance can be annoying, but don't get me wrong it's a million times better than any current CW romance like Oliver and Felicity or Barry and NigIris

I was the biggest Smallville fan on the planet when I was 11 years old watching season 1. Then things started getting weird when they brought in Jensen Ackles, when Lana got demoted, when they brought Lois in to replace her, when these two weirdos showed up at the season 5 opening, when Clark started making trips to the fortress of solitude...

It was losing me through seasons 3 and 4, and by season 5, they totally lost me. The show I loved didn't exist anymore.

I don't really agree, but I do hate how awkward the transition to grooming Clark to become Superman was. For starters, the fact that Clark was openly being groomed to become Superman.

One of the main draws of the character is that he consciously made the decision to dedicate his life to helping people. Bringing in all that prophecy nonsense kind of defeated the purpose of the show.

That said, it did seem that without the predestination aspect this Clark would never get off the fence and put on his cape. I mean, even as late as season 9 he was wishing he didn't have his powers. The constant waffling got really, really tiresome.

Season 7 was about as bad as 6 except for Kara

Season 8 started off strong but dragged on in the second half with the drama of Doomsday

Season 9 was a return to form and one of the better seasons throughout the series.

Season 10 was pretty much my favorite season. The "Darkseid" fight was a major let down, but other than that this is the best season.

TLDR: Season 1-3 good, 4-7 hit or miss. 8 is the beginning of the show becoming good again. 9-10 were great.

Baum has done a lot of voice acting which makes me think they won't cast him because most people know him only as Lex Luthor, look at his wiki, that is a lot of DC voice work.

Routh had a small film career - just nothing major so most people don't think he did. It was only AFTER Chuck that he started doing a bit of TV, but nowadays it's not looked at as a problem. There's no reason why he couldn't do a movie.

Blame Viacom and Warner Bros for that. As soon as WB got Superman's TV rights back from the Salkinds, they did everything in their power to sweep the show under the rug. And both companies were in dispute with the Salkinds over the rerun and home video rights.

Even now you can only get the DVDs through Warner and Amazon's Print on Demand service, and the show still hasn't rerun on any network. Shit's fucked up.
