Hey /co/ lets shoot the shit about Ultimates whilst reading about THE COSMIC CUBE.
Starting with the OG Lee & Kirby storyline.
Shaper of Worlds storytime: >>88626231
>>88705186
Sorry for the misleading cover, I ain't dumping the Iron Man story.
>>88705274
Don't quote me on it but I do believe this story was also Red Skull's in-the-flesh return from the Golden Age.
>>88705303
Goodness knows where I got that impression.
>>88705186
Oh shit, I completely missed the first one but the idea is great. Thanks senpaitachi
>>88705699
>>88705696
No prob, anon. It was Christmas week, you had other priorities.
I would've done it before last week's issue had I paid attention to solicits & known it was coming out.
>>88705754
Besides, now that I DO know what the next issue features, I've got another storytime idea so want to get this one out of the way.
>>88706185
Gotta pop out in a sec, aiming to finish this issue first
>>88706292
ite, brb
okay so if I do the rest of the issues I was planning to do there's still 100 images slots left.
There were several more Cosmic Cube storylines between the one we just finished and the next thing on the itinerary. They're not relevant to the overarching narrative I'm going for, but anyone interested anyway?
>>88706794
Go for it, I'm sure Ewing's read them
What do you want to discuss about Ultimates?
>>88706794
If you do every Cosmic Cube story ever you're gonna be here for a while. Skip to the ones that matter.
>>88706916
>>88707101
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO
Gimme a sec I'll flip through them and see if I can pick out the important stuff.
>>88706794
You do realize /co/'s imagelimit is 250, right?
>>88707302
By "important" I meant stories that deal with the Cosmic Cube's sentience and potential to be so. If it's another "The Red Skull gets the Cosmic Cube" story than it's not really relevant.
Like that time the Red Skull trapped the ghost of Hitler's clone into a Cosmic Cube. Then again, that story is so crazy that many would probably enjoy it.
We interrupt our regularly scheduled broadcast to bring you CUBEQUEST

The two things that really got my goat were in the last thread.
i.e. the definition of a Mutliverse and that one anon's "EVERYTHING LIVES" theory that finished up the thread and got no replies.
>>88707816
>>88707414
Yeah.
It's that little material.
>>88707816
>He turned the Cube into a pendant
You can do that?
And why would you want to use your fists for fighting when you have the Cube?
>>88707816
I didn't see that. Any link?
>>88707835
>>88707598
I've read that one myself, but wasn't gonna do it anyway because apparently it's a different Cube altogether.
Which begs the question of where that one went...
>>88707875
>>88707850
You can do anything when you have THE CUBE!
>And why would you want to use your fists for fighting when you have the Cube?
More inconspicuous & harder to drop.
>>88707904
>>88707873
Link's in the last thread. Gimme a sec.
>>88705206
>posting the King
>apologizing
Pick one.
>>88707875
>Which begs the question of where that one went...
It later showed up in Mark Waid's run, some Nazis tried to bring Hitler back to life.
...wait a minute, was that the Cube whose fragments would eventually become Kubik? If so it might be relevant.
>>88708072
>Kubik
Meant to say Kobik
>>88707942
>>88707873
>>88590829
>technically, "Multiverse" in Marvel cosmology only refers to the various planes\realms\dimension, while Omniverse refers to that PLUS all the alternate timelines and everything in the middle.
That's bullshit.
>>88708100
>>88592420
>LISTEN UP /CO/ I'VE GOT A THEORY: I get that most people think that what the shaper saw were the beyonders, it's highly likely and thats what I got on my first read. But with all the talk about nothing dying, what ifhe's talking about the other seven eternities?
>>| saw the secret! I saw the one that is one! And more! I saw the others
>The one that is one is eternity because theres only one living omniverse. His secret is that he is chained. And the others? they are the other eternities, condemned to the hell.of oblivion.
That's AWESOME.
>>88708100
God, I just wish they had a different colorist.
>>88708150
>>88707976
Isn't that cover by Colan? He's credited with the art on the issues' Iron Man stories.
>>88708150
That's a really neat idea. It'd let Ewing go absolutely nuts on continuity too, which I'm sure he'd love.
>>88708175
>>88708072
>>88708096
Well dang, indeed it may.Apparently there was a third Cube too?
>>88708072
>>88708096
After a brief wiki-walk, I can confirm that the Cube that the Cube that Hitler was imprisoned in that first showed up in Super-Villain Team-Up and that would eventually be destroyed years later in Captain America 448 is indeed the same Cube whose fragments would eventually become Kobik.
>>88708227
Just how dumb are these idiots? They really think that handing the Red Skull omnipotent power is to their advantage? That he would reward them? Do they not know the guy very well?
Huh. Apparently this arc also featured the introduction of The Falcon.
Anyone want me to dump those pages whilst I'm at it?
>>88708382
Yeah, the Cosmic Cube is how Sam Wilson got his bird powers.
And then there's the whole "Snap" Wilson thing...
>>88708382

Hopefully it's the basis for the Captain Marvel movie, that'd give me a good excuse.

Wundar's a Gerber Man-Thing character btw. Superman parody, IIRC.
I'd have drudged up some pages from his debut story (and the Rick Jones parts from Kree-Skrull War) but I figure this detour's taking long enough with just the Cube stuff.

I remember him showing up in Marvel Zombies 3. He was bitten by Zombie Headpool, but went into some weird healing bubble to purge the virus.
He hasn't been seen since.
>>88710983
>>88710999
>>88710988
Was it 616 Wundar or Marvel Zombies-verse Wundar? I thought they didn't reach 616 until vol. 4.
IIRC Gerber explicitly asked fans to not vote for him in some poll because he'd rather he fade off into obscurity.
>>88711080
It was 616 Wundarr, Marvel Zombies 3 was in fact where the zombie thing first reached 616.
Brevoort hates Gerber for almost getting him fired so his opinions are irrelevant.
>>88711080
I've been trying to post for 5 minutes and captcha kept refusing to load. Be advised.
By the way I've decided to do this issue in it's entirety since it's just that good.
>>88711354
>>88711116
Like I said man, Gerber himself was the one who asked.
Is was a muh creator's rights thing, he didn't want anyone else playing with his toys.
>>88711388
Wait when did ARMOR become a thing then? Jennifer Kale, Daimon, Jack Russel etc.. I could've sworn that was MZ4. Had some Zombies already broken through before that?
>>88711444
>>88711444
ARMOR became a thing in MZ3, they kept showing up in MZ4. MZ3 is where the zombies first broke through to 616, MZ4 is a direct continuation.
>>88711465
This guy's a fundamental part of the Earth-X sequels.
I still don't get why.
>>88711500
>>88711491

Wundarr was part of the Florida Initiative Team alongside Siege (an obscure cyborg from Deathlok's old series) and an old Man-Thing character called Conquistador. Kale and (possibly) Wundarr were the only survivors.

>>88712294
Okay so that's the only part the Cube plays in this particular story, but it feels weird just jumping somewhere else mid-narrative. Anyone interested in finishing this issue? It's by Gruenwald.
>>88712374
The issue has 18 pages left, doesn't seem worth it. Stick to the Cube as you've done so far.
>>88712413
Alrighty. I gotta go eat summin'. If anyone else is interested speak up, I'll do it at the end with the Falcon pages.

Also thanks for reminding me. The face being a mask was news to me, I always assumed it was just that deformed. Wanted to look it up.
>>88736251
It used to be a mask, up to the point where he "died" of old age once the effects of the gas that slowed his aging wore off.
After Arnim Zola brought him back in a cloned body of Steve Rogers, he was hit by his own Dust of Death and his face became deformed, so he was a literal red skull now. This lasted until he was killed by the Winter Soldier.
The Red Skull is currently in a clone of his original body, and I believe he's gone back to wearing a ridiculously expressive mask.
>>88736251
>The face being a mask was news to me, I always assumed it was just that deformed.
It's been both. It was originally a mask, but then at one point his face got fucked up to make it his actual face.
The current Red Skull is a clone of the original, and he was just wearing a mask until Magneto destroyed his face in AXIS, but when Red Skull reconstituted his face when he became Red Onslaught/White Skull, I think it became his actual face again.
>>88736251
>>88736388
>I believe he's gone back to wearing a ridiculously expressive mask.
It was definitely a mask up until AXIS since we can see the mask get torn up when Magneto is kicking his shit in but after turning into Red Onslaught, his face turned into the actual Red Skull again. Although I guess it could still be a mask and that was just a psionic projection.
>>88736388
