This show was awesome and Cartoon Network's treatment of it was a fucking war crime. If it would've kept going it probably could've been one of the best action cartoons ever.
It's also worth noting that it pushed content boundaries for the network. They showed Lance spit blood in an episode, they showed him impale someone in another, the heroes beat some monster to death, and of course there's the Booty Quake scene

He's was reasonably sure that his father and king are both dead and his planet conquered by traitors and alien invaders.
Meanwhile, he's stuck on another planet, powerless to do anything about it beside surviving weekly assassination attempts from across the galaxy while protecting the princess from the same.
On top of that, he had to go to high school, which in addition to being a nightmare on it's own, he viewed as a complete waste of time and a safety risk for both himself and the princess.
Quite frankly, he had every right to be as upset as he was.

Those backgrounds look great, though. Not just gritty greys and browns, but realistically confined palettes that resemble actual afternoon light and cities at night. That Call of Duty promo shot is washed out and overly foggy so it looks unrealistic and boring. Not everything has to be bold primary colors like in kindergarten.

Not really. Galaluna looked very much like a greatly expanded version of Arus from Voltron, in that it had the mixture of Medieval and futuristic tech to it. The two futures in Ego Trip (Mandark's and Dexter's) were both typical dystopia and utopian looking places.

Dude has a great voice for that sort of enigmatic badass type of character. I also loved how this series gave the heroes not one, but three antagonistic forces to deal with right off the bat, each with varying levels of villainy and antagonism: Modula and the Mutraddi (VERY antagonstic, sworn enemies of the heroes and main villains of the series) Solomon and G3 (vaguely sinister and with unclear motives, but really just curious about the heroes and very much in the friendly column by the end of the season) and General Steele and the US Army (antagonistic, but only out of ignorance and sheer stubbornness rather than actual malice, and can't put a dent in Galalunan or G3 tech without the HMER). It's a lot like what Motor City did around the same time, giving the Burners not just Kane and Detroit Deluxe to deal with but also the other Motor City gangs.

The only stuff I had heard about it was that the crew had gotten accustomed to the bombs and making the episodes in burst format now.
They were fine for the first season, but the bombs got HUGE response so CN switched them to doing that pretty much entirely, which in turn requires them to take long breaks between to catch up.
And then there was the whole "Steven Nuke" shit this past summer that threw everything out of whack by putting literally a whole season in the span of like 2 months.
