Oddly enough it worked fine for years. Now certain dvds skip and to even get a dvd to work I need to eject it a dozen times before it can be read. I'm looking at investing in a new, region free come February. Surprisingly enough there is a lot of different regions dvds you come across at the SA.

I don't know how long we'll keep the threads going after the big day, but, if we don't, I want you all to know you've brightened my holidays and, as always, it's been a pleasure. I'd love to hear back from any anons who get their gifts late (sorry again, guys) about what you thought of them. It does me good to know that I passed along something that others enjoyed.

Thank you all for being an inspiration and, such as it is, my friends. May the coming year treat you with the kindness and warmth of a dear loved one and impassion you to make the most of life. These threads have always been something of a highlight of Christmas for me. They always give me hope that random acts of kindness are still a thing.

Before I slink back into the world of anonymous posting, I want you all to remember that you are each capable of great feats. Difficulties and hardships are obstacles to overcome. They may not be easy to, hell, some are impossible to do so, but what matters is how you approach them and how you react to the result. If nobody else believes in your goal or your ambition, remember that there is some random guy in the world who will always do so.

Hope everyone had a good christmas. I ended up getting really sick in the evening and missed out on dinner which sucked. But my family and a bunch of family friends have a pseudo-traditional cribbage tournament on thanksgiving and christmas and I wound up winning 100 bucks this time around so that was nice.

Just finished watching the Dr Who Christmas Special, and other than it be on Christmas 24 years earlier int he story it has nothing to do with Christmas.

It took a full season for 11 to grow on me, it was the Christmas Carol episode that I started to like him. 12 I dunno there was a bit too much empty headedness and assholeness in the first few episodes but at the end of the last season I grew more accustomed to him.

The competitions were pretty fun, the year I won we had two interesting events.

one guy hopped a bit going down some stairs and kinda scalped himself on the low roof. Took 8 stitches and was back in 2 hours to take 2ed place.

Another guy was really out of it, he would be painting and mumble about the model. Once just looked up all blurry eyed and shouted "Details!" He ended up falling asleep for a few minuets leaning over the table brush still in hand.

Disney World would brighten mine up, so I went with the more reasonable-for-my-area Disneyland. I'm pretty happy because I still have about a month to catch up on the media school's kept me from, but I certainly didn't get as much as I wanted done this year. It's good to have things to look forward to though.

I'll chime in on this since SDU and I talked about it briefly a while back. We like gifting people, but feel like others sometimes don't gift "because the big gifters will take care of it", which could be true. So I guess that begs the question, do we ultimately hinder the process by doling out? I feel like the people who were going to drop a list or post multiple lists would do it no matter what, and there's really no way to weed them out, and switching to the match system has issues of its own. The only thing we can really do is hope people have a change of heart. Though if you can come to the thread to post your list, you can dang sure come back to say thank you!

Well judging by some of the posts, should we try a new structure for next year? We can try the 1v1 setup, or even make it like someone mentioned about giving a set number of participation before they're added to the bins.

I think 1v1 could work, have people paired up but then I'd need more then just wishilists since amazon keeps contact info tight. We can send small messages to wishlists by saving them as friends but I've seen that option get removed in the past.
