-Christmas Day Edition-

What's this? What's this? There's /co/hristmas everywhere.

We're at 100% gifted! Hear that? 100%! We generally keep the threads going through new years to allow people to post/thank late coming gifts.

Grab some cocoa, turn on the Christmas music, get comfy, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.

As previous years share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. Be sure to gift another Anon in return so we can spread the cheer far and wide.

Ungifted lists: pastebin.com/PnsZCHHH
All lists: pastebin.com/i76p6g59

To get your wishlist code open you wishlists on Amazon, then click on the name on the left side of the page it will update the URL at the top to be registry/wishlist/#########
We just need the ###########

Missing Address: When viewing your list, click "List settings" in the upper right hand corner. From there click "View details" on the wishlist you are using. On this new page in the middle will say "Shipping Address". Mark "Use an existing shipping address" and select the address you want to use (most likely your home address). Below that check the box "Third party shipping agreement". Click on "Save Changes" and you're all set!

Oddly enough it worked fine for years. Now certain dvds skip and to even get a dvd to work I need to eject it a dozen times before it can be read. I'm looking at investing in a new, region free come February. Surprisingly enough there is a lot of different regions dvds you come across at the SA.

Picture for Scribs.

Great picture, and by what you've said it's gonna be the DVD lens acting up. Probably an easy fix if you take it in to a shop or are comfy opening it yourself.

It wasn't all that expensive to begin with 5 years ago. I think an upgrade won't hurt. I can always keep this as a backup.

Oh, and thanks. I personally love how Krampus' face came out there.

Damn, I need the heat right now. So cold. I hope it's the weather and not me. I felt much worse 12 hours ago. I feel better now, less clammy, but damn it got cold fast.

Dammit captcha, stop with the sushi! I can't get any until tomorrow!

I almost miss Wolverine after this book.
>>
>>88680886
Yea Logan had some great stories but he got popular, like Deadpool, and suddenly he had 6 ongoings and it was impossible for him to be written the same in all of them let alone keep up with everything that was going on.
>>
>>88680944
Over-saturation can really take it out of you. Especially when it was inconsistent.
>>
I'm gonna call it a night and I'll be turning off my channel for the time being. I may show Secret of Kells or Ghostbusters some time if there is an interest in it.

>>88681057
Indeed. But I can't really say much, I haven't been keeping up with anything lately. Last I heard Deadpool had a daughter and was married to a LMD and/or some Outerspace monster queen. And then Logan was dead and x23 took up the mantle and title of wolverine.

It's all over my head at this point.

And again, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
>>
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and is having a good night.

I don't know how long we'll keep the threads going after the big day, but, if we don't, I want you all to know you've brightened my holidays and, as always, it's been a pleasure. I'd love to hear back from any anons who get their gifts late (sorry again, guys) about what you thought of them. It does me good to know that I passed along something that others enjoyed.

Thank you all for being an inspiration and, such as it is, my friends. May the coming year treat you with the kindness and warmth of a dear loved one and impassion you to make the most of life. You are, each of you, capable of great things and I look forward to hearing all about them in a year's time.
>>
It's been a pleasure to participate in these threads again. It's been a delight to converse with some brilliant people, inspiring in plenty of ways.

These threads have always been something of a highlight of Christmas for me. They always give me hope that random acts of kindness are still a thing.

Before I slink back into the world of anonymous posting, I want you all to remember that you are each capable of great feats. Difficulties and hardships are obstacles to overcome. They may not be easy to, hell, some are impossible to do so, but what matters is how you approach them and how you react to the result. If nobody else believes in your goal or your ambition, remember that there is some random guy in the world who will always do so.

Peace and love, all.

The missus and I pulled pseudo-Gift Of The Magi this Christmas after apparently simultaneously realizing we'd not kept up with the Doctor Who specials since before the 50th anniversary. I got her The Day/Time Of The Doctor and she got me Last Christmas and The Husbands Of River Song. As such, we marathoned through them last night and have finally started streaming the latest season today. Twelve's growing on me.

>How's it been?
I need to rewatch the season before this. It's been over two years and is sort of a blur to me. I just remember thinking the companion girl was going full-on Felicity with condescending to the Doctor and the new Doctor was constantly brooding while talking about how maybe he shouldn't bother to save people for a change. Four episodes into the latest, the characters both lightened up substantially and 'The
Husbands of River Song' might be the most fun I've had with the Twelfth Doctor to date.

The competitions were pretty fun, the year I won we had two interesting events.

one guy hopped a bit going down some stairs and kinda scalped himself on the low roof. Took 8 stitches and was back in 2 hours to take 2ed place.

Another guy was really out of it, he would be painting and mumble about the model. Once just looked up all blurry eyed and shouted "Details!" He ended up falling asleep for a few minuets leaning over the table brush still in hand.

>>
>>88708270
I've only seen 1/4 of my gifts that were sent.

>>88707993
I know we've caught 3 people that I had to add to the naughty list, all 3 did duplicate lists of one sort or another. But as for people just dumping the lists probably a few dozen not to mention the 4 lists that are missing their addresses.

>>88707993
We have quite a few less lists than last year, 265 entries rather than the 197 this year.
>>
Speaking of deliveries n such you should've got something today Dave so let me know if it's not come and I need to chase it up or w/e. Mailbox delivery?
>>
>>88711173
Been at work all day, will definitely check when I get home
>>
>>88711153
you caught 3, but i wonder how many slipped through the cracks. probably more than we think. just wish it was more 1:1 gifting instead of seemingly the namefags gifting the majority while the anons sit back and wait to be gifted. not to say we don't gift, but you guys gift a lot of people it seems, and that might be because a lot of people post a list and leave.
>>
>>88711349
Man I don't think we should all sit ITT getting down about how we've been taken advantage of. It just makes actual thanks feel sour.
>>
>>88711349
I know other pages do matches secret santas and it could work here but they all have issue with people putting their lists in and not buying anything.

It would also take more work getting everything matched up and we'd still have some jerks putting lists in with only expensive items or full of naughty things like the naughty toy anon.

There's issues both ways, and I know int he past we've had more interaction from the general anons, specially once gifts started getting delivered people would pop back in and return the favor.
>>
>>88711371
Yeah, besides, it's supposed be about giving. Sometimes the good will come back around too--maybe somebody mooched, but will come back and give multiple gifts the next year. Granted, there will always be those who give more, but it's nice to spread good will.
>>
>>88711533
I've always thought that there should be some sort of time limitation before lists are added that way it's limited to people who actually browse /co/ rather than people who just run here last minute to drop their lists and leave.
>>
>>88711553
Ideas like that and putting a deadline on how late lists could be posted, as we've had people last year posting their lists even after new years, but both ideas had been seen as grinchy/bah humbug.
>>
>>88711533
>>88711553
>>88711639
/toy/ does that every year and they get grinched hard year after year.
>>
>>88712121
I didn't mean switching to the way toy does it. I meant creating a deadline for how late lists could be posted here.
>>
>>88712121
Ha, really? What happens? Man this thread is just really depressing now.
>>
>>88712121
we're also getting grinched in some aspect by gifting people who don't participate in the threads or pay it forward by gifting others.

>>88712239
they do it by matching people up with others, so for example you and i are matched, except you send me a gift and i dont send one to you. and it happens A LOT.

i didn't mean to make things "depressing", just wanted to open a dialogue to try to improve things. ill head out now, see ya next year.
>>
>>88711533
I like naughty toy anon.
>>
There's no perfect solution, and there will always be grinches. I do have times when I get bummed out by the lack of response from people I gifted. But you know, in the end, I think it's all worth it. Just gotta enjoy the ride and decide your gift limits and what you're willing to risk.
>>
>>88711533
I personally don't mind the list set up. I do wish we could get more 1-1 gift giving, but we've got some big gifters in our Secret Santa that add a lot of cheer on their own. We could lock it down and do a secret Santa swap, but I rather like the open nature of this.
>>
>>88712360
If anything it might open anons up to comics and /co/ see >>88706561 posting thanks and verification they got their stuff is great enough on its own, getting them to participate in the Christmas Cheer is just a added bonus.

>>88712239
Some /toy/ anons put a heck of a lot of effort into their Secret Santa gifts stuffing packages with tons of figures and even handcrafted stuffs only for their match to send them nothing. I think they tried to curb it by matching people with the same budgets but it still happens.

Right now they're in need of backup Santas because of their grinching issue >>>/toy/6091877
>>
>>88712531
I like the list format but I think it's a little too open. Not everyone will agree and will think I sound like a Scrooge but the way we have it set up makes it far too easy for people to be taken advantage of because we aim for 100% gifted.
>>
>>88712360
Nah I think it's a conversation worth having, it's just this was my first time participating and I dunno feels kinda shitty post-Christmas to be having. But I imagine the same conversation happens each year.

>>88712510
The objective way to do it would probably be giving gift cards to the organizer who then runs off with the total.
>>
>>88712621
Elusive has been playing the long game all along.
>>
>>88712610
I would agree, we could adopt a system of posting with gift ids, but for some that might just be too much. Perhaps next year we can provide some sort of gift tally system and see how that pays out.
>>
I'll chime in on this since SDU and I talked about it briefly a while back. We like gifting people, but feel like others sometimes don't gift "because the big gifters will take care of it", which could be true. So I guess that begs the question, do we ultimately hinder the process by doling out? I feel like the people who were going to drop a list or post multiple lists would do it no matter what, and there's really no way to weed them out, and switching to the match system has issues of its own. The only thing we can really do is hope people have a change of heart. Though if you can come to the thread to post your list, you can dang sure come back to say thank you!
>>
>>88712808
No. I believe people just use that as an excuse to not gift.
>>
>>88712883
True, but it could be said we give them the opportunity to use it.

I've said what I wanted to say on this particular matter. I'll continue to gift as I see fit and look forward to next year's threads, though if we could have more true participants that would be extremely welcomed.
>>
>>88712808
Perhaps I'm not the norm, but I was personally inspired to gift more by some of the big gifters. It was cool to see people being generous and I wanted to join in the fun. The contests attracted me too. Heck, I probably would've gifted even more if shipping outside the US wasn't so crazy.
>>
I'm not a fag btw that was kinda mean

Damn fine book that. Enjoy! Need to get myself a new copy after losing my old one.
>>
Well judging by some of the posts, should we try a new structure for next year? We can try the 1v1 setup, or even make it like someone mentioned about giving a set number of participation before they're added to the bins.

I think 1v1 could work, have people paired up but then I'd need more then just wishilists since amazon keeps contact info tight. We can send small messages to wishlists by saving them as friends but I've seen that option get removed in the past.

>>88712631
The longest of games The Game of Life
>>
>>88717930
I'd probably vote we keep the same structure. It's far from perfect, but I enjoy hosting contests and skimming lists to find some fun things to gift. And maybe worry less about 100% gifting.
>>
>>88717957
Well if we were to change up to the 1v1 we could still have the bins so people could still put sort through and gift randomly.

We could even do the 1v1 on a separate part, have people email me during the first week and I could pair them up for a more personal connection. And still have the bins of gifted and ungifted separately.
>>
>>88717957
Yeah, I like this structure. /Maybe/ a cut off time when it's really close to Christmas may make sense as it seemed a lot of the late posters didn't gift back, but I also liked browsing through people's lists and finding someone with interesting things. Or finally gifting someone who had been waiting for a while.
>>
>>88716959
>Need to get myself a new copy after losing my old one.
How?

>>88717930
I prefer just buying randomly for people. I got to buy for a few I haven't in the past that I've wanted to like Scribs and Judge Death. It's the method I prefer, but if it's different next year it is and I'll cope.

>>88718067
That might not be a bad idea.
>>
>>88718067
What about a tiered type list setup. For example at the start of the pastebin, all the lists who have gifted, but not been gifted. Followed by the no gifter who are ungifted.
>>
>>88718321
How would we know for sure who has gifted someone though?

No but seriously, have you seen /toy/s Christmas threads? They're horrible. Maybe it's the awful administration on their part. I think everyone here would be willing to at least try an actual Secret Santa as long as it is well administrated.
>>
>>88725424
I dont think we should do both together because we'll still have just as many lists being put in but way more people not gifting because they'll say they bought for their match.
>>
>>88724342
Every year they get grinched over Secret Santa's giftees not gifting back, they're in desperate need of backup Santa's right now >>>/toy/6091877

They don't want to use /co/'s system because Amazon doesn't always carry the Japanese figures they want and when they do they're pretty overpriced. I feel bad for them because this happens almost every year.
>>
I participated in /toy/s last year and I received my gift and sent a gift out and had a pleasant experience.

That doesn't sound right. What did you get?
>>
>>88725203
That's weird. Typically, the only time that's happened to me in the past is if the seller didn't pay the proper fees themselves, like underpaying on postage.

I want this to happen.
>>
Hey Gravity Falls Joaquin guy, I need your RUT info for this to clear customs.

Let me know how you'd prefer to send it. I can set up a throwaway email address or something.

I was surprised at the Cypher hunt, only found out about it when they got to the church and the info on the back of the picture was missing. Just awesome that the creator went through so much work after the show ended.

'coughs in'

Late Wednesday night, how is everyone doing?

Reading comics myself.

Crippling pain.

Your riddles are hard enough without having to leave the house.

I do look forward to trying again next year.

I'm reading way too much into this post, huh? I'm far too stupid to figure out your shit, or Cicada's shit. I'm an idiot, but this post really got the old neurons firing. Holy shit, I should stop drinking so much, huh?

Where in the world is Riddler fucking shit up?

That fits the song perfectly, too.

So out of curiosity, since the threads are winding down.

What's that one useless thing everyone wants?

Like, I don't mean a fancy gaming computer, or just tons of comics.

That one thing you just... want, but you don't need.

I want to get an HDMI modded NES or the NES AVS.

It's kind of useless when you consider just how good emulation has gotten, and even how easy it is with devices like the Pi.

But I just honestly want one. Plug it into my TV with a flash cart. And just go through tons of games. Games I love, games I've never heard of, homebrews, hacks, etc.

A few Vania Zouravliov movie posters - GoT, LotR primarily. Maybe his artbook.
>>
>>88745273
An 80 inch television or larger. I don't need anything more than 42 inches, but I want that movie theater vibe in my living room. I want to get lost in my broken recliner watching a sci-fi or action flick. That would be bliss.

Not paying scalper prices, but it's pretty cool.

>>88742443
That was such a crazy ride on /co/. I was glued to it. And then it ended.
Where'd the Cipher statue ultimately end up, anyway? It'd be cool to go see in real life someday, but it was already breaking when they found it so I expect it won't last.

I was looking at TRU at the MMPR stuff they had. The toys were okay, but they only had pink and yellow Rangers and I'd only look at green and white.

I'd like to get a laptop.
I have a good desktop computer. But I want a laptop for a few things that I can't do with my phone...
That and what >>88747452 said... or MLP plushies

Also, Zum I may think I got your gift. The mailman came today, didn't ring the bell, left a note to go and get the box from the post-office and when I got there they said to come back tomorrow. (It may also be a wig that my gf ordered. I'll let you know)
