Sefton Hill did an AMA on leddit the other day and from what he said, it sounds like the next Rocksteady game may not even be Superhero based and could possibly be even a new IP (Said a lot about challenging themselves to do something new and risky. Also said they took on the criticism about the Batmobile in AK as well though he was happy with how the mechanics turned out but maybe they could have done better with the missions)

Monolith have been rumored to be doing a DC game because Shadow Of Mordor pissed off the Tolkein estate hardcore as well so between Montreal, Netherrealm and Monolith doing DC games. Rocksteady are pretty well covered if they want to do something new.

I still stand that Damian is less marketable, and they should've continued with Dickbats. I'm not even a big fan of Grayson, but he's more well known, they could introduce Damian as Robin if they needed to, and have a compelling story about how legends can die as easily as they survive. It even gives them more opportunities to add in the bat-family, Red Hood, etc.

I also think a Batman Beyond game would've been swell, but casuals are more familiar with Dick Grayson, thus more appeal.

To be more specific, the Tolkien estate told Monolith not to fuck with official cannon and make sure it's told as a "What if?" side story. Monolith wrote it was cannon with nothing in the game, implying it was a "What if?" and the Tolkien family was furious. Especially since they were never told of any changes or given a chance to approve anything.

Supposedly Shadow Of Mordor 2 was put into production soon after, but it was being completely stalled by the Tolkein estate, who are refusing to approve anything WB Games propose. So it's supposedly been shelved in favor of re-working it into a DC hero game sometime back in 2015 which is why there has been nothing heard about it since.

I could keep going, but the main issue is that each of these characters either A. Have little to no public appeal, B. would require the creation of totally new combat systems and entire stories written when they don't even KNOW if it would sell to the level that such depth would cost and C. Batman is one of the easiest superheroes to design a game around, his stories are easy to write (Just slap some shit about Joker in and the usual rogues with some mixups) and his gameplay is BALANCED.

TL:DR Batman is vastly more popular then other characters in the public view and is far easier to design a game with Batman mechanics then any other superhero, they can just keep cranking this shit out and it will almost certainly sell.

Apparently what really pissed them off was the fact you could confront Sauron as Talion because it made the journey of the Fellowship seem pointless and completely fucked with the lore by implying that a Wraith could defeat Sauron, the ultimate evil, himself.

Supposedly Mordor 2 has been reworked into some kind of DC game because of it. Either Arrow or Flash because they would work best with the established mechanics and Nemesis system. Which is why there's been extreme quiet on Monoliths front.

I always thought Superman would be perfect for a Telltale game. You can use the detective aspect as Clark's journalistic investigations and you don't have to worry about being "too powerful" or anything since it's a more story-driven game.

Knowing relatively little about Lantern lore, I would suggest having different cities to patrol, and you can switch out different Lanterns for different challenges, or levels. To keep it simple, restrict it to Jessica Cruz (as the surrogate character to newbies to Lantern lore), Hal Jordan, and Kyle. Have the main villains be Red Lanterns. Save other Lantern characters for DLC.

Show the majesty of space. Have destructible environments, and have a battle system that encourages using different characters for combo attacks. Show the different Corps, and show WHY someone would dedicate their lives to this.

Space detective story with lots of weird aliens side quest. Lots and lots of unlockable moves/constructs but only a few that you can have equipped into your "arsenal" at a given time. Certain constructs require a combo chain of other specific constructs before you can use them. There's a different set of constructs for "free fly" mode and for when you're locked onto an enemy. Maybe even a rudimentary skill tree to unlock certain constructs. Like Will gets broken up into Courage Focus and Consciousness skill types.
