Dynamite is where pulp heroes go to die. The KISS comic isn't bad though. Art in the latest issue was a bit wonky.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you mean, but all but one of Coheed and Cambria's albums tell a story, and that story is also told through comics.

It starts very mediocre then gets better.
