Anon who started the first thread, this whole project, and the only confirmed other person working on this and maybe the head of this whole thing? here. Haven't posted much between now and last night due to the understandably busy season.

So, to get this straight, it is indeed going to be a visual novel with a romance system thrown in, correct? I'm hoping this is the case. Once I get a better idea of what's going hopefully I can be of more assistance. I kind of feel bad I haven't done more since I sort of started this entire thing.

It seems like most people want something with more player freedom to pursue different paths. I think going certain places at certain times, etc., begins events that are like little mini VNs with a few choices, and depending on your choices, relationships ans skills or whatever go up or down?

That seems about right. When I say VN, I say that because the key difference between a VN and a dating sim is that in the second one, it's essentially "here's some options seduce the one you want"

When I say VN, I think a game with a bit of a story to it outside the dating aspect, but character relations playing a good part in influencing what happens. I guess something similar I can compare it to would be Harvest Moon, the dating system isn't the entire focus of the game, and yet at the same time still is.

Forget it, I have no idea how to explain this, let's just have things progress and see where it takes us.

Writing would be rad. At present, I don't think anyone really needs to be team leader. I think you and I are consistently working on this with Artist-Anon pitching in time when available. Not really a lot of management to be done. We do need specific scenes written and broader plotlines laid out, and that's probably where you come in.

I don't know if you plan on using these long term, but feel free to make whatever edits you want if you feel like spicing up what you're throwing together. The color job you did on the others proves to me that you have at least some artistic knowledge, Im sure you could edit in your own facial expressions using the pen tool if you feel inclined. Just note that if you do you should probably stick to base I gave. Hartmans "C" mouths wont look particularly good with those lips I drew, for example.

Also Im no writer, but it seems the incest route needs a kickoff point

This remind me there was once an Ed, Edd & Eddy VN thing. You took a quiz early on that line you up with one of the three ed boys. The guy who made it couldn't decide if it should stay clean or go full gay dating sim with it. At the end I guess he just gave up but everything on it was well drawn iirc.

Do the world a favor and stick with one path at a time if you are planning to add splits. It is better to have a completed game with one ending than an incomplete game with multiple short incomplete endings.

Hey, OP, I've been trying to get a VN going to sell here and there.

What system are you using to build it? Renpy? Tyrannobuilder? Unity?

I've been thumbing through using Renpy, and it seems to be easy enough to learn how to use, but I haven't gotten that deep into it yet.

I'm just curious as to what system you're using, because I'd really like to use a system that can track certain flags without having to write it in manually.
For example, if you tell of a character off too much, she won't help you at your time of need.

Surprised nobody here likes skullker. Oh well as long as ember is here. I'd also love to see how the kim possible and x j9 routes would go.

It's RenPy. Absurdly easy. If you have any coding experience at all, it should come really easy. The harder you move towards an actual VN and away from a sim, the easier it gets. And it's pretty easy to customize once you get a little deeper into the code.

I was working on using a system called YouDIDit to make an adventure game in where you would have a map you click on to select items and use them with actions to solve a problem.
For example, two characters are snooping around and get captured by some thieves. If you screw up escaping, the second character will help you out, but if you pissed her off earlier, she'll escape on her own (and get caught anyway, leading to a game over)


But I then heard about RenPy and about how easy it is to use, but I was a bit worried if it would be able to track flags or not. Now that I know it has flags, I'll dive right into it.

Here's a thought, Danny's semen is addicting. That probably sounds forced, but lets say everytime he has sex with a girl, they grow a little more attached to him. Make it a mechanic that it gets easier and easier to get laid by one girl the more you fuck her, and gets easier and easier to get her to do kinkier stuff.
