This is just one faction of the fandom at that. Perhaps what explains this particular faction is that they're the ones who tried to be inclusive and not destructive, in order to maximize their fandom-ness. To hate Beast Wars or G1 makes you a niche within the fandom. and of course that mentality opens them up to the whole real life progressive social issues and SJW insanity, which then begins to take hold and start attacking everyone else in the fandom.
Since they're dedicated enough to run the wiki, they also have a nice strong base to stand on rather than just being some freaks who happen to be fans (or fans that happen to be freaks).

The problem with this as an argument is that we do it, presumably, because we already have gender. It's part of our personal identity and conception as entities.

However close their "biology" has come to our own they have never come so far as sexual reproduction. Of course that is for the very obvious reason that Hasbro is never going to sign off on actual canon clank clank. It frankly has to be more than the soul as presumably an intelligent species that reproduces asexually could still have a soul. Gender just does not equal the soul.

It's clear that this is still a problem when you read the Covenant of Primus which has females as a loose term for humanity's benefit and the actual difference between "female" and "male" Cybertronians is left really vague and, to base the reaction when it came out, pretty damn unsatisfying.

Still there are obvious reasons they could have gender. Quintessons might build them with gender if Quintessons have it. Primus in his infinite wisdom could make His children with gender to foster understanding with the beings they would encounter in the universe, especially humanity. When Alpha Trion's Quill can impart future knowledge presumably big daddy Primus is even better capable of knowing what will come in time.

And then there is the fact that Transformers have always been very imitative. It's part of their nature given their natural inclination to be Robots in Disguise. They tend to become engrossed in our culture, especially bots like Jazz and Blaster.

The real reason for gender is not them but ourselves, especially these days when gender inequality doesn't seem right or fair. Even when they don't have gender they are still perceived as male and so lack of females feels...insulting? Close enough.
