Jaune is garbage at offense but in basically every fight he manages to successfully block whatever he's trying to stop.

If he went full tank mode and focused on intercepting attacks and holding aggro he'd be much more useful. There's no way he ever gets full weeaboo ninjaflip agile, but he could totally be ironwood-lite and just let people break themselves in half trying to hurt him.

Going along with this, Jaune really needs a fucking gun. Something high caliber short to medium range that hurts enough people can't just ignore him, with high enough fire rate or blast radius he won't just miss every shot.

Combat shotgun built into the shield would be my pick, but anything is better than his current status quo

In order to be a tank you have to be able to actually fight an opponent.

Main Tank being raid leader is practically archetypal. In dungeons the tank sets the pace of pulls and marks CC targets.

Letting Jaune lead from the front would help him not be such a colossal vagina all the time and give him something to actually do. Since he's probably got a martyr complex after Pyrrha wouldn't let him try to protect her, he's absolutely going to be willing to take blows meant for his teammates

Nora is by far their best damage dealer, especially against armored/large targets where Ren's guns and bladed do jack shit and Ruby may not be able to easily snipe.

Nora is frankly the team's most powerful member, she's good against massed forces of smaller Grimm thanks to her grenade launcher, can cleave/shockwave multiple people with her hammer, charges up for more speed, strength and durability, and is fast enough to reliably get within melee range to start smashing.

Ren's semblance will need to be something very useful for him to be on Nora's level, especially since that embarrassing display where his guns and blades were worthless against an armored opponent.

At my school, there are "preps" aka the "popular" people.

Reason #1 Why I hate Them They're not even popular. They made that up for themselves, and none of them even got nominated for Homecoming Princess.
