It's all in the execution. Charlie, there? The pink one with hearts around her head? She's annoying and single-minded about her lesbian love, but at least she comes off as a parody. Ada and Teresa from the same comic might have listened to too much Paula Abdul, but their schoolgirl lesbian love is a part of their whole and developed individual personalities.

If a gay character's only defining characteristic is their sexuality, you better be a damn good writer or they'll rub the audience the wrong way.
