I"m going to present a theory. Luke was able to control his temper for a moment and thought about the ramifications/consequences of an angry black man walking into a white woman's home and taking his child back.
The entire thing smells like a setup to give a reason for claiming a restraining order against Luke to legally keep him from Dannielle.
Luke knows better than to play that game and is instead in the process of "secretly" getting legal action to grant himself full custody of his daughter since Jessica is guilty of kidnapping and probably a string of other related crimes for what she's done.
