This was much better than I had expected it to be, to be honest. It seems to me like Stohl is trying to reconcile KSD Carol with Reed's Carol (and I don't think it's a coincidence that this issue is at it's strongest when Stohl is channeling the latter).

I think the strength of this issues so far is that Carol comes across more like a fully rounded human with flaws and issues rather than a "yaas queen" caricature like the solicit suggested.

It's also pretty clear that Stohl read more than KSD's run, too, you definitely can see the influence of Reed's run in her characterisation of Carol and the theme of Carol being her own worst enemy that she seems to build up here.
