I've actually really enjoyed this arc more than I am Gotham. I think part of what makes it weird is the arc feels a bit 'artsier', for lack of a better word, in its writing and thematic structure than the first arc, which was kinda fulfilling a big dumb action movie quota. there's been some depth these past coupla issues

This was one of the most senseless and illogical plans I've ever seen. Was this entire arc a joke? Why was it necessary for Batman to put himself at Bane's mercy at the beginning of the story, again? Why did Bane leave him all his gear and inside an unguarded cell? How did Batman know Bane would try to incinerate Punch and Jewlee, and also lock up Bronze Tiger with easy access to venom? I feel like Batman's entire plan hinged on Bane being a complete imbecile.

If anything, it's weirder that Catwoman suddenly understands Batman so well, when last we saw her in the Post-Flashpoint universe she still didn't even know his identity. Batman getting everything about Catwoman just makes sense.

Which brings me to my hunch: i think Catwoman really killed those terrorists and that Batman will kill Bane.

From future solicits we know that Bane will try to break up, his monster, by attacking his entire family including Catwoman. We also know that Batman will have to make a choice about where he stands regarding Catwoman that will change things forever.

My guess?
Catwoman really killed those terrorists for bombing the orphanage she grew up. Yeah, she's suicidal and she thinks that death is a choice you make, not something you push unto others, but her pain and anger was so much that she broke her emo oath and killed those fuckers.
Which brings us to Bane, another suicidal fuck that constantly tries to challenge Batman because that's is his form of suicide. To pick a fight with a monster that one day will finally kill him. So Bane is out for revenge and will hunt the Bat-Family. He won't stop. He either will break everyone or die by Batman's hands.
Once Batman learns that Catwoman really killed those terrorists and there's no way out against Bane, he'll also break his emo oath and kill Bane, giving Bane his sweet surrender. Now that both Batman and Catwoman broke their emo vows and lost their suicide club cards, becoming both killers, Batman and Catwoman will be finally free from their weird... suicide thing. The decision Batman makes is to help Catwoman escape and be a couple with her.

Just like I am Gotham and I am Suicide, this one will have a twist on the meaning of the phrase that's sensitive to the plot of the arc.

It deceives the reader before they read the story.

For the first one, you read the name and think the story has to do with Batman's relationship with his city, and not literally about a new hero named Gotham and Gotham Girl.

For the second one, you think it's just a play on the fact that Batman is running his own Suicide Squad now, but really it's about his own subconscious motivation to be a vigilante.

And now for this third one, you would expect "I am Bane" to be about Bane taking back his iconic look and trying to make some big impact, or maybe Batman taking Bane's place and ruling over the people that follow him or something.

It'll probably have something to do with using the word Ban as meaning an antithesis, antidote or negation. "I(Batman) am (is the) Bane" of... something?

My idea while I'm thinking about it right now is "I (Batman) am (the) Bane (of my own mission, due to my mistakes/actions that take place during the arc.)" Or something to that effect.

Bane was being genuine in just trying to be happy and kick Venom, but Batman needed Psycho Pirate to save Gotham Girl, and Bane be damned if it meant sacrificing him to save her.

The point of this arc was Batman doesn't care who he has to sacrifice to save those he loves. The next arc will be that logic biting him in the ass by Bane becoming addicted to Venom again directly cause of his actions and coming to break Batman.

He basically selfishly extradited PP for his own personal ownership. Batman meanwhile not only is helping an innocent girl who needs and deserves help far more than Bane does, but he's trying to help out inmates whose sentences he feels are too harsh by getting the gov't to lessen them as payment for helping Batman get PP out of the hands of an incredibly dangerous criminal.

He takes all the heat in his plan, acting as a lure to distract Bane and his forces while the others get to move in relative safety. He has no problem going to such lengths because he's already "dead" and puts no value on his own safety in his quest to help others. It's a statement on the fundamental motives of the character. At no point has Batman's actions been noted as selfish or favoritist. You convinced yourself of a message that isn't there.

There's a difference between sympathizing with a villain and damning a hero for taking a cure for an innocent young girl the only way he could. Bane needed Pirate to kick an addiction, Gotham Girl needs him to repair her psyche that he himself fractured, something only he can do.

Bane was still complicit in holding a man captive to be his personal crutch. He never entertained the idea of handing him over to Batman. Nothing he did really signalled any kind of virtue or remorse whatsoever. Nothing to make the reader question the repercussions of Batman's actions. But couldn't King at least have pretented he would make a dent in it? What made Grayson fun was the fact it was something totally new for both the character and the DCU. By using D-List characters in Omega Men the stakes were higher as they didnt have recognition protecting them. Vision was all about trying to create a new status quo in the Vision Family only for it to fall apart.

Here Bane is on Venom again, Catwoman's a Hero and nobody died. Individually these are not necessarily negative, but together they add to the fact it feels like this arc had no weight. King should be able to do far better.
