10/10 Weirdest Fallout DLC to date

post yfw someone decides to create a remake fit for [CURRENT YEAR]
>>
I think that the World War One imagery of the '39 short is much better at portraying the brutality and self-destructiveness of war than the '55 one. It's much more emotional to see a soldier, in his last acts of life, kill an opposing soldier before succumbing to his wounds than it is to see a colored fireball overtaking a globe.
>>
>>88544877
Name even one studio that could do a remake justice.
>>
>>88544877
No way that it would get remade in the current climate. We are far, far removed from the way of how the world was in 1939, when people were actually terrified of war like that.

>>
>>88544877
Whats truly sad is that with the current calarts bean mouth style it would loose all grit and realism of the short missing the point that war is actually serious business and fucking awful and that a war that could lead to grim future without humans isnt that far from reality.

In this day and age it will be a safe, colourful, mediocre cartoon without the conection with religion nor will have any merits of its own, it will also stir up soccer moms demanding everything to be censored in their "someone think of the children" mentality.

Everywhere else they just say something along the lines "HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT?!?!?!" jaking off to mediocrity passing off as good.

Just as we did at the turn of the 19th century, a time when the Euros dominated the globe and the west was won. Anybody else see that selective service poster with the hipster advertising war with Russia? People said it was a hit piece on Shillary and not real, but I had my doubts and brought shivers.

>>
>>88544534

I don't like how there's always these things where the creators try to be really deep by talking about how "humans are always fighting each other for no good reason because they're violent and evil". Like obviously most wars are started by hate and greed and stuff, and it often has nothing to do with the best interest of the normal guys doing the fighting, but "humans fight because they're just like that" completely ignores the actual reasons wars are fought, especially when people are fighting for good reasons. Like when one country tries to invade another, or commit genocide and the other country defends itself, are they just both examples of humans loving to kill each other?

I mean the second cartoon came out just ten years after the end of world war 2, was the distinction between being a Nazi who wanted to commit genocide and not being a Nazi just a petty little difference? How were the people of Poland, Norway, France, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, The USSR, and the UK supposed to at like saintly pacifists when they were being attacked? Did world war 2 just happen for no reason? Did it not really matter?

>Becomes key to German military operations in the area.
>Loss probably resulted in 100,000 later french casualties.

>THEN this happens

"Earlier, on 8 May 1916, a careless cooking fire had detonated grenades and flamethrower fuel. This in turn had detonated an ammunition cache. Apparently some of the soldiers tried to heat coffee using some of the fuel from flamethrowers, which proved to be too flammable and spread to shells which were without caution placed right next to such environments. A firestorm ripped through the fort, killing hundreds of soldiers instantly, including the entire 12th Grenadiers regimental staff. Worse, some of the 1,800 wounded and soot-blackened survivors attempting to escape the inferno were mistaken for attacking French colonial African infantry and were fired upon by their comrades. Results are 679 casualties."

>Still repel attacks until evacuation and recapture in late October.

I'm gonna stop reading right there and take a moment to point out to you that this short was made in 1939. This message might be old now, but it was still very new then. People were just coming around from an old mentality that man dominated the earth and that everything was made to be conquered by somebody or other, and were beginning to think that maybe humanity as a whole has a couple of inherent flaws that should maybe be addressed. It was a good thing then. We now live in a more cynical age where we've been looking at our own flaws for a while now, and it's frustrating and many of us want to now move on from that and regain a little optimism again, which is great, but it misses the perspective Peace on Earth had in its own time.

Like it said in the post, Britons were allied with the Japs, so my guess is that the fleet was being just paranoidly careful of Japs and their torpedo boats.

Hell, during the Spanish-American war yanks were also terrified of torpedo boats and thus shelled anything that even vaguely looked like torpedo tubes.
Including a rail line and a train near one coast.

I prefer the 1939 version. Better animation and dialogue too.

But also the idea that humans fought literally to the last man seems about right (that death scene of the soldier is beautiful). Nuclear annihilation is ok, but duking it out until the bitter end just felt right. Felt human.

Good Will to Men (1955)

Remake of Peace on Earth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBRkJBHpQ-I
>>
>>88561269
The current generation of men are being shamed for having ambitions, power, and obeying the traditions that have held their nations together for centuries. They're also being blame on the sin of their forefathers. Meanwhile, women and minorities want power because they think they're owed something for the suffering their people have experienced. Luckily, nothing will happen, mostly because both women and minorities of the 21st Century are too pathetic to fight for their own ideals.

It'd largely depend on how attached you are to your own self image, how closely it could mimic sensory inputs, and any societal implications.

A person that sees himself as a monster, sees the world through alien eyes, and is looked upon with horror by society is going to fair a tad bit worse than someone that doesn't give a fuck, doesn't experience much of a difference with the sensory inputs, and isn't looked at as out of the ordinary.

Worst case scenario the subject would develop severe body image disorders, ghost limbs, and social anxiety disorder spiraling into depression and suicide.

War isn't something that should be celebrated.

Its a terrible thing done out of necessity, there are good reasons to fight wars and we should not shy away from fighting them when they need to be fought, but that does make war itself a good thing.

War is something that should be treated with the seriousness and weight it deserves.

Celebrating war is just crass.

Its ridiculous how much traction this myth has gotten, if anything the cause of WW2 was that the treaty of versaille was too soft and wasn't actually enforced. Germany and its allies started the largest war in history, resulting in the deaths of millions and large scale destruction of large sections of France and Belgium.

Germany was bloody lucky that it was allowed to exist as a nation at all after that shit show of a war, but no, gotta bitch about having to repay the damage you caused in France and Belgium (despite taking zero damage to German industry or fucking anything other than manpower) and devaluing your own currency in order to get out of paying your debts.

That's a very simplistic view of the Second World War. Germany invaded Poland because they refused to return land taken from Germany after the First World War, which split Germany proper from Prussia. It is likely that they refused because Britain and France emboldened them by guaranteeing their independence should Germany invade, leading to them refusing to hand over the land Germany desired. Germany claimed that German populations were being oppressed in Poland, and that Poland actually attacked first, and invaded. Britain and France promptly declared war on Germany, which escalated what would have been a small regional conflict into a worldwide conflict. The UK and France were not attacked at that stage.

Also interesting to note is that the USSR also invaded Poland when Germany did, and massacred some Poles, which they later attributed to Germany. They had also invaded Finland, taking territory from them previously, and had invaded the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Germany invaded Belgium and the Netherlands in order to avoided french fortifications that would have prolonged the war. They succeeded in occupying France, and retaking areas which had German majority populations that were lost after WW1.

Germany invaded the USSR for a variety of reasons. However, on potential reason is that they became aware that Stalin was planning to invade and conquer not just them, but all of western Europe.

Essentially, World War 2 was overall a pretty pointless war. It created a bleak geopolitical situation that is still very apparent today. It broke the back of Europe, leading to it's decline, and the rise of the US and USSR as the pre-eminent superpowers. Sure, the Nazis were not the nicest people, but neither was the USSR, or most of the other powers. Eugenics was practiced in the US, British, French, and Belgian empires created vast colonial holdings through invasion and geopolitical meddling, and the USSR killed and oppressed plenty.

t. Ferdinand Foch

That's funny, considering Germany was initially only at war with Russia. They asked France to remain neutral, and received no reply. So, what was Germany to do? Allow France to gain the initiative against them while they fought with Russia, essentially putting them on the back foot right from the start?

Germany asked Belgium to give them military access in order to fight France. Belgium refused, and so Germany invaded.

Is Germany partially at fault? Yes. Entirely? No, and if you say they were, you don't understand the complex web of alliances and widespread jingoism that caused the first world war.

It's not a myth. The Treaty of Versailles was idiotic. If the victors had reinstated the Kaiser into power, you wouldn't have had the incompetent and reviled Wiemar Republic, and the power vacuum it caused, which lead to the Nazis taking power.

A harsher treaty of Versailles would have probably done nothing at best, and may have even made it worse. If you split Germany into separate states, how will you prevent them from simply reforming? Keep in mind the great depression occupied the nations that were supposed to be enforcing the treaty of Versailles, and nationalism doesn't just go away when you split up a nation.
