When did Poison Ivy get her plant powers?

Didn't she gain access to the Green?

I'm pretty sure the writers at one point just forgot that she can't actually control plants.

Maybe when Neil Gaim wrote her origin back in the 80s/90s, or when he wrote her in the Black Orchid mini. I'm pretty sure Gaiman is the one that give her the plant powers

She didn't have powers in B:TAS, and in TNBA, she only had green skin. She didn't start having plant powers in animation until The Batman, and she already had them in the comics by that point.

Buhuh? Gaiman was the one who retconned her origin to include Dr. Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man. Although he mentions the effects of his experiment took years to develop, I'm pretty sure he introduced the idea that Poison Ivy was tapped into the same "Green" as Floro and Swampy.

The point of contention here I think, is that those mutant plants didn't so much obey her psychically as she engineered them to do her bidding, like she eventually did the pod people in House & Garden.

While I haven't read a lot of post-NML Poison Ivy, so I may be wrong, I've always assumed that plants that she controls in the comics are also her creations, whether grown through super-science, or even if they're seemingly wild, who's to say Poison Ivy doesn't just fucking release pollen into the air every year to grow future plant-minions in the cracks of Gotham City?

I haven't read The Long Halloween in years so maybe that story handles it differently, but to be fair, I distinctly remember NOT liking TLH's take on Poison Ivy. It just felt like an excuse for Tim Sale to go wild with his depiction of her, and while it LOOKED cool, I didn't like it because it was a Year One story and I've always liked the idea that Poison Ivy is smart and resourceful enough that she was one of Batman's most dangerous foes even BEFORE she got superpowers, and is maybe the one Bat-villain to canonically, demonstrably get more powerful with time.
