In a really weird filler episode, Puss finds himself suddenly being hunted on a jungle island but what turns out to be an ex girlfriend while everyone back home goes crazy trying to find him, apparently having forgotten they have access to and regularly use a magical artifact that lets you find anything.
Really, the season is so much more story focused that the off-story episodes just seem out of place.

I watched most of the dream episode. It was pretty touching, with Puss realizing it was a dream and that he wasn't going to marry Dulcinea. It's clear that he loves her, but does she love him?

I think dramatically the moment's passed now, Puss has bled too much for the town but it would've been a banging season 1 or 2 ep.

I think its pretty clear she does, Dulcy falls the fuck apart whenever it seems like Puss is going to leave; for comic effect in this season and whenever Jack Sprat shows up to remind her Puss isn't the knight in shining armor she wants him to be and for dramatic effect earlier when he exiles himself from San Lorenzo. The scene plays like a lover being abandoned.

She's very comfortable in her current position because Puss is too much of a gentleman to go, "So hey we going to make this official or not?" since despite her growth she's still kind of an innocent in his eyes and also it is a kids show so a frank discussion between adults about their relationship evolving from a we're-basically-dating to let's-actually-knock-our-cat-boots place would be kind of, well, inapropro, and that's where Puss and Dulcy seem to be. Basically in a relationship but dancing around the formalities.

Actually that could be a good episode, the orphans shocked that the two AREN'T together.
