Are you the Ovatar, Ong?

OPs can bump their own threads now?

Those costumes look nice.
>someone put alot of work into them for nothing

Why can't M. Night just admit and accept that he made a terrible adaptation and move without making so many excuses for why it failed?
He blames the studio for meddling, for pushing a couple casting choices on him, he wrpte the screenplay, he decided that the fire nation soldiers couldn't generate fire, he changed the way names were pronounced, he cast a young boy as Ong who was a good martial artist but couldn't act, and was proud of that. He race-swapped so he could himself in as a cameo, he decided to have the Earth Kingdom soldiers in a prison camp, he decided that bending was something you pump up and release, which is why so many pointless gestures went into moving a small rock across the screen slowly.
But when he talks about it he says he's an artist and was asked to paint in a style he didn't know how to do or something like that and said that he chose to make the film so short for the material because he's used to doing movies around 90 minutes long.

Am I the only one who likes /tv/ and likes /co/, but doesn't like when they step on each others' toes?
Am I boardist or just autistic?

>In a Reddit AmA thread by Dante Basco, the original voice of Prince Zuko, when he was asked what he thought of the Last Airbender film, he responded by saying that Konietzko and DiMartino told him not to see it.
The creators officially said that they would like to pretend the film does not exist.Bryan and Mike spoke extensively about how the project was given the go-ahead without their approval, and when they tried to provide input, none would be realized.
>>88531748
Not sure what you mean or why the OP lead you to think about this.
>>88531793
you don't go on /tv/ enough if you don't see the obvious /tv/ influence in the op
>>88531805
I am the OP and I don't really spend much time on /tv/. I have occasionally made this thread a few times in the past because that line was so awful/funny and it usually makes for a somewhat decent thread every few months discussing the movie vs the series.
>>88531737
Because of conceit.
she isn't bad looking
>>88531647
For all the shit the movie did wrong, it was the first piece of media to pronounce the names right.
The earthbender's elaborate dance to throw a small rock will never not be hilarious
>>88532769
oh fuck me I forgot about that. someone got a .webm?
>>88532744
And the source materiel pronounced them wrong, then? The source materiel where the names and pronunciations came from?
So is this movie better or worse as an adaptation than the golden compass?
>>88532829
Pretty much. Two A's next to each other doesn't make a sharp A sound.
Terrifying.
>>88532849
>when Jon Stewart had to awkwardly shill for him on the daily show as a favor

See you soon.
>>88532846
But Ong is better?
>>88532868
>>88531647
I like those costumes, at least.
>>88532878
Fair enough. Aardvark and all that. I still say Ong sounds stupid.about as stupid as soekha
>>88531805
Dude, /co/ was making fun of the Aang pronunciation in the live action movie for, like, a year before it was even in theatres.
You're kind of showing your lack of knowledge here.
>>88532902
Pre or post baneposting? I forget the year.
>>88532906
Pre Baneposting being a thing anywhere but /tv/.
Literally from the first trailer footage revealing how they pronounced it in the movie.
It had nothing to do with /tv/, it had to do with the fact that /co/ knew the cartoon series, and thus knew the way the name was supposed to sound (in this fictitious world with made-up names).
>>88532919
That makes my blood boil
No, I am Oman, nice to meet you, unless you are benders of course.
>>88532936
>made-up names
inspired by asian names
>>88532990
East Asian, maybe. Maybe.
Sure as hell not Indian ones.
>>88533000
that's what i meant. there's a few indian inspired too though
>>88533031
Maybe, but there's no India in the Avatar world. There's no nation that's LIKE India in culture, behavior, anything.
Should Aang have a Tibetan accent?
>>88533049
Only thing similar is that one Guru that teaches Aang to unlock his chakras.
>>88533061
Oh yeah, that guy. Yeah, he's the closest thing I can think of, and he was one weird guy in a cave.
>>88533061
there's also 4 elements, unlike in east asian cosmology. agni k(a)i. lots of stuff inspired by hindu mythology
no nation that we know. we only know roughly one hemisphere of the avatar world
>>88532919
So, it wasn't M. Night's fault?
What a tweest.
>>88532744
it's the other way around actually, the show pronounced the names right and deliberately spelt them incorrectly, the movie then based its pronunciations on the spellings. If they wanted to 'correct' it then they would have changed how the names were spelled, not said.
>>88532846
Why not? It does with every other vowel.
>feed
>moose

He came to believe in the hype.
>>88531748

>The first draft of the screenplay? gorgeous
Okay anyone who has ever watched an m knight movie knows this is bullshit he is not capable of writing a passable screenplay.
>>88531737
Mainly because you can't admit flaws in the industry and still get work
Honestly watching the movie is a fucking trip. It's a children's film that's shot like a horror movie or thriller (because that's all M Night knows how to do).
It's also pretty widely held that the first casting decision was the shitty white girl as Katara (which was done apparently because her father is an influential billionaire). White Katara means they need to hire a white Sokka.
They realized they couldn't ALSO hire a white guy to be the villain so they dumped Jesse McCartney for Dev Patel (as his name was now recognizable). That meant that the fire nation now had to be Indian.
As for Aang, his audition tape is great. He just seems to have real trouble acting on a green screen, which is understandable for a child.
>>88532868
It should be a short A as in amazing
>>88533688
Aardvark.
>>88531737
>which is why so many pointless gestures went into moving a small rock across the screen slowly.
Thats not how that scene actually happens. The rock is moved by a bender off screen who then comes into view after the rock comes into frame.
