She's upset over what she saw, she's feeling a mixture of fear and confusion, so at first she has a serious expression, but as she looks Kat in the eyes she realizes she's her best friend and that there's nothing to worry about.
It looks like once again the comic is foreshadowing a rift between Annie and Kat, so I'm pretty excited, but knowing Tom, if this even were to happen, it won't be for, like, 3000 pages, still.

It's only in ether mode that Kat sees things reduced to their most simple representations possible. The afterlife thing because an issue because it only existed IN THE ETHER and had no spot to go to that was in the real world.

Normally Kat cannot see in to the ether. So her in the forest wouldn't be an issue.. from her perspective.

Psychopomps can choose if they are seen or not. Unless the individual has the ability to see in to the ether. At which point they can be seen regardless because the individual can see their etheric selves. However, when they reveal themselves openly, even people with NO ether ability can see them. Further, they have demonstrated physical substance when materialized.

ROTD is different. It's a place that is traveled to rather than a place that reveals itself as already present. Further it is ACTUALLY STATED IN THE COMIC to only exist in the ether and specifically said it had to be traveled to as such.

It becomes reasonable to assume, by way of example in the actual comic, that Kat will default to the physical representation of a thing if it has it, and a purely ether construct will be 'simplified' to it's most base possible representation.. if she is plunged in to an ether only environment. When still in the real world, she has demonstrated ether activity is totally invisible to her. On many occasions I might add.

I don't know if this has been discussed already here because I don't really visit this board much, but I think I know why Kat can do all this with the ether.

Going back to what Coyote said, human mind is connected to the ether and thus their perception and belief in everything makes mythical and fictional things into reality. If we go by this logic and remember how Kat is being venerated by the robots, we'll start to see a connection and a similarity to human belief in the supernatural, their interpretation on things on how they see and believe (but not how things might actually be).
Now the robots are having a lot of problem: they cannot understand love very well, they have trouble interacting or understanding with the human mind and perception and they're often very confused and naive when it comes to people in general.

Because robots are having trouble with all that, they try and make up their own understanding, like our buddy S13 does. When Kat showed Paz her first little biomechanical chicken wing and the whole thing exploded, she said, 'It was worth it,' because she got a kiss out of it anyway, while S13 thought that she meant, 'It was worth it,' because it was the first step in creating a new kind of life and form for them.
As Kat continues to proof her expertise to every single AI around her, more and more of them congregate and build a sort of proto-religion about her. In other words: the robots also have an effect on the ether and are making HER into this 'angel' that they're perceiving. If however the whole AI shabang is not good enough as proof as to why she can do all this, then remember - she's making an entirely new kind of life form, and like the Wandering Stone she doesn't need to be worshiped and created NOW to have all this, but only later in the future, and it would still work.

You can take off the bangs for a more accurate haircut if you want. I took off the makeup, which she doesn't wear anymore, the fucking bondage gear/tans, increased the bust a tiny bit since she actually shows and made it stiffer so it doesn't bounce so unnaturally, reshaped her butt a bit, gave her a bra, and changed the pubic hair to a less dense and more natural kind.

The mark of a true god is the ability to create life from nothingness.

The robots are not alive. As was brought up when Kat awakened one of the old original robots they are not alive and can not die. When they are turned off or deactivated they simply cease to be until turned back on.

If Kats experiments to create a techno organic body for robot succeeds he will be the first robot to truly have a living growing body. A body that will allow him to truly live and die. Which could give rise to a new gereration of living court robots that would owe their very existence to her. Much in the same way the current bots view Dieago as their father they would view Kat as their mother, creator and if robots little church of kat continues their godess.

If coyote was telling the truth this would explain her ether form and abilities. Though lifless automatons may not be able to worship her into godhood the living AI she is on the road to creating can. Retroactivly.
