Post a current Marvel comic worse than this one. You just can't.
Gwenpool gags get in here
Gwenpool has been consistently better than the shit they've pulled these last years.
>''Our book is getting negaive reception and terrible sales since issue two!''

How is Civil War worse than Gwenpool when they have superior artwork?
Iron Man on the other hand when it comes to writting...
Why do these threads always come in waves? There's always one thread thats pro-Gwen, then another pops up anti-Gwen and vice versa.
>>88513284
OP is Mexican. Not Jewish.
>>88513235
In fact, let's see what I can do with this panel. I saw it done before with Bendis' shit.

>>88514908
...You know, I don't mind the scene, but that art is completely inexcusable.
Also: hold up. Isn't Hellcat LITERALLY the daughter of Satan, as in: the sister of Daimon Hellstrom?
>>88515058
No, that's Satana. Hellcat dated Hellstrom.
>>88515058
You're thinking of Satana. Patsy Walker was Hellstrom's wife. I want to say widow, but it's actually her who died, annulling the marriage. Anyway, ex-wife it is.
>>88513145
>Gwenpions
That's not even clever in any way shape or form...
>>88515058
>I don't mind the scene
For context: the brunette in glasses IS A MAN. He's her new gay bff/roomate that she literally just met while he was trying to rob a bank ... they bonded over showtunes. I'm not making this up. They leave and beat up the other chick's bf and leave him hanging from a statue in the park. That's as far as I could make it before I gave up on the first issue (it wasn't even any fun hatereading it).
>>88513320
Is tony not wearing pants?
>>88513446
>>88515033
Not him but you took out literally all semblance of her personality. Even if it's bloated Benis at least made her sound somewhat human. The edits are just robotically dropping relevant information on the page and moving forward.
Also
>Getting over the fact that he even knew my name! And I have armor.
What.
>>88514494
I can't tell if making everything so fucking ugly is a petty attack on comic books and their unrealistic standards of beauty where every woman must be a playboy model or it's just ineptitude and lack of skill.

>>88513145
Jesus Christ, Marvel. Get it together.
>>88515304
It's half a page wasted with with cut-and-paste panels of a single paragraph drawn out for no reason.
And she's being a dick for also no reason.
>>88515243
>Even if it's bloated Benis at least made her sound somewhat human.
No. It made her sound like Bendis. Just like Miles sounds like Bendis, just like Jessica Jones sounds like Bendis, just like Kitty sounds like Benis.
>>88515304
>what's wrong with it
It's the second time in the same comic where they copy-pasted multiple panels w/o any background (which just compounds the lazy).
But the main issue is the painfully awkward dialog (remember that this is the second issue when the first issue gave us #Woke!).
>>88515365
And the edit made her sound like a robot. I prefer at least a smidge of character.
Just goes to show every critic on /co/ would have no idea what good writing even looks like.
>>88513045
Champions is so much worse than Gweenpool I don't even have a picture saved in my PC because I want to forget it exists.
>>88515393
>And the edit made her sound like a robot. I prefer at least a smidge of character.
She's summarizing recent events with facts. Maybe it would be to her benefit if someone wrote her ason slightly autistic. But no, Bendis isn't capable of that. I would rather read about robots than anything related to that fat fuck.
>>88515428
>Champions is so much worse than Gweenpool
Reminder that this was the last page of the second issue ... and then reprinted as the second page of issue #3 (which, given how little effort Marvel puts into their trades, should be even MORE obnoxious there than it was in the floppies).
>>88515466
>>88515365
I always hear that Bendis writes all his characters the same but it feels like just a phrase parroted around. Does anyone have any actual examples?
I read his Daredevil and it was pretty good and didn't seem like it suffered from whatever it is people claim characters written by him do.
>>88515694
>Does anyone have any actual examples?
>>88515746
This just seems like it's supposed to be funny watercooler talk rather than a meaningful character moment. But I don't even know what this is I could be getting memed on.
You can like Gwenpoole, I personally do.
You can dislike the book, some do.
Then there's autistic triggered by people who like it, like OP
Dont be buttblasted. Dont be OP.
>>88515814
It's emblematic of his style, which is to emulate how real people talk by having the characters repeat themselves over and over and over and over again. It wasn't as noticeable in his earlier works because he was more subdued with it and that kind of speech pattern was kind of novel. Fifteen years in everyone's gotten sick of it and he himself has only gotten worse. These days you can cut any dialogue Bendis writes by 20-60% and not lose any relevant information.
>>88515814
>But I don't even know what this is I could be getting memed on.
Pay attention to the copy-pasted panels (pretty much any comic Bendis writes has this) as well and the echo'd dialog:
This is a thing.
A thing?
A thing.
Like a 'thing' thing?
Yes, a thing ... thing.
>>88516133
Jesus I had never seen this before. It hurts. This can't be how he ALWAYS writes can it?
>>88513446
Bendis' problem is he makes character development painfully obvious by repeating everything fifty times. You just removed character development all together.
>>88516133
None of these panels are copy-pasted. Schiti makes an effort of making sure not to do that. You should have used... pretty much any other Bendis comic. Way to find one of the very few Bendis books whose artist doesn't copy-paste.
>>88516158
>This can't be how he ALWAYS writes can it?
It's not literally every single word balloon, but this echo effect is what people mean when they say "bendispeak."
He's also fond of image related.
>>88516336
REALLY likes it.
>>88516259
>None of these panels are copy-pasted.
They're all 90% identical, anon.
But if you want literal copy-pasta, here you go.
>>88516436
Wait...we need to back up here...
You're telling me >>88513320 wasn't an edit?
Alright I'm on board with burning Bendis at the stake now.
>>88516336
>>88516395
Part of me wants to defend this because I kinda like what it's going for but it makes it feel like the conversation never breathes and they're just talking over each other. It's also ugly as fuck.
>>88513985
I think an enjoyment of vampire girls. At least that's what I got out of it.
>>88516436
The backgrounds are the same but the characters themselves are redrawn each time. Schiti put pretty much the maximum amount of variety in those panels that he could given Bendis' script and making light of his efforts and painting it as copy-pasted is disingenuous.
THAT IIM page is an actual example of copy-pasting panels. Again, Bendis writes his scripts such that copy-pasting panels is encouraged. Schiti puts in the extra effort to not copy-paste so just saying "eh, it's Bendis so it's copy-pasted even if it clearly isn't" is a real fucking shitty statement to make that's both not true and also discredits your own claim because it's, again, clearly not copy-pasted beyond the backgrounds which wouldn't make sense to randomly change since a rock formation isn't going to be moving around.
>>88513045
Easy
>>88516563
>the characters themselves are redrawn each time
Look again: their legs literally don't change at all. And Peter is copy pasted in the first two panels (only his head changes in the third); 90% is the same.
That's not to shit on the artist (who's surely following what's been scripted) and I was posting it as an example of Bendis's dialog, not crappy art.
But if you can't see how little shifts between panels you're either blind or willfully ignorant.
>>88516158
It's especially bad in the creator-owned works.
>>88516523
>they're just talking over each other
He's aping David Mamet's style of dialog. The problem there being both that he's not nearly as good as Mamet (so it comes across a stilted and mechanical because the pattern is always the same rather than authentic), and, more importantly, Mamet is a PLAYWRITE. Having people talk over each other while not actually saying much is fine in a play or on tv because you have the visual cues of facial expression and body posture and how the actors interact in non-verbal ways (and because you're hardwired to pick up on this stuff in real life contexts).
>It's also ugly as fuck.
Right: it doesn't work AT ALL in a comicbook format ... but he KEEPS ON DOING IT.
>>88516802
>>88516802
It feels like Bendis wants to write film/theater, but only ever amounted to comics.
>>88516158
>This can't be how he ALWAYS writes can it?
>>88517015
Fuck. Has he ever acknowledged it?
>>88517061
Yes. He's been doing it for 15 years. It's not like he doesn't know he's doing it. He considers it his "style." Along with double-page spreads and copy-pasted beat panels.
>>88516881
>>88517100
>and copy-pasted beat panels
Seriously. Like WHOLE FUCKING PAGES of pasta: >>88516436
>>88517061
Yes.
Does that make it worse?
>>88517195
It's such an easy target ...
>>88515304
Read Vision. Then come back and read this issue. You'll understand then.
>>88517158
I think the thing that pisses me off most is they don't even bother drawing an open mouth on a panel that they're speaking. Like for the silent panels whatever but THERE ARE WORDS BEING SPOKEN AND EMOTIONS BEING CONVEYED. THEIR FACES ARE NOT IN THE SAME POSITION.
>>88517195
What the fuck is this
>>88516395
>REALLY likes it.
Really? You're saying he really likes it?
>>88517416
>they don't even bother drawing an open mouth
The first few times I saw it my reaction was: "what a lazy fucking artist."
But it's clearly just the scripts Bendis writes saying: just repeat the second that third panel three times each; because it's in pretty much any comic he's writing.
>>88517606
The fucked up part is not knowing who starts off the dialogue.
"I'm Power--Power Woman" makes me think it's Cage and the I get through half the dialogue and have to go reread it because apparently he was the other tree.
>>88516837
>it doesn't work AT ALL in a comicbook format
It actually *could* work ... if he'd go to the trouble of working it out with a decent artist rather than just dumping words words words on a splash page.
>>88517761
>"I'm Power--Power Woman" makes me think it's Cage
He was saying "you should go by Power Woman because I'm Power Man" and got cut off. It made sense in the comic as I recall.
>>88517100
>He's been doing it for 15 years
And he'll still be doing it 15 years FROM NOW ... if people keep buying it.
CWII didn't set the charts on fire; but it was *still* consistently a top 5 seller despite the fact that Age of Ultron, his LAST Big Event, was easily one of the worst events Marvel's ever shit out.
>>88515058
>Isn't Hellcat LITERALLY the daughter of Satan, as in: the sister of Daimon Hellstrom?
It was suggested in the Demmatis run of Defenders, but then Satan revealed that he lied, and it was part of a ploy to get Hellstrom to come back to Hell.
Then again, it's fucking SATAN, so he could've been lying about lying.
>>88515198
I read through the whole first arc about that Enchantress lady. Everything about it is pretty awfulexcept the character design of Hellcat herself is kind of cutefucking hell I'm sorry
>>88516837
That style can work over a series of panels. It's the fucking splash art that ruins it
You show each character's expressions on each line of dialogue and it works. You show a single still frame for the entire conversation and it's stilted
>>88515198
>For context: the brunette in glasses IS A MAN
I know. He's cute.
>>88515243
>you took out literally all semblance of her personality.
She sounded exactly like all of Bendis' characters: speech impeded by stroke-related brain damage.
If she is a fucking super-genius, can she at least not sound like a dumb girl? That's an idea, isn't it? Make a character stand out through their speech pattern?
But instead, there is nothing that suggests her super-intelligence in her behavior. That irks.
Ugh. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. There was an OPPORTUNITY here. Show an individual for whom her intelligence is a genuine impediment because she feels like she is surrounded by monkeys. Some of those monkeys love her very much, but they can't communicate on her level. Her thoughts move like blazing sparks at the speed of light and a flood of ideas is constantly hammering her frontal lobe and Tony Stark was the only adult she ever truly connected with, and then he dies. Result: she feels more alienated than ever and starts her superheroic career with a giant grudge against Captain Marvel.
THERE WAS THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACTUAL DRAMATIC ISSUE THERE AND BENDIS COMPLETELY MISSED IT.
>>88519082
Brittany Williams deserves better than Marvel
>>88519226
Tony died?
Where have I been.
Gurihiru's art really isn't that good
>>88519126
It doesn't seem like much of an improvement, at not when Bendis does it.
>>88516158
It's gotten worse in recent years.
He also wrote this, for which I will give him some credit because it makes my boy look awesome.
But even here: speech bubbles multiplying like bacterial colonies on a petrie dish.
>>88516211
>character development
No, see: Bendis does not DO character development. Also, comics are a visual medium. A good artist/writer team can do a lot even without a lot of dialogue.
>>88516552
Oh. Well, I can't condemn that.
>>88516802
WHY DOESN'T HE JUST WRITE NOVELS?
>>88517236
Who did that?
>>88516570
The new first issue of Nova was easily better.
>>88519265
We're not sure he's dead. But he's out. Maybe in a coma, maybe in jail, maybe in hiding.
>>88519294
Wow, limited imagination.
You could do literally anything with the gauntlet.
"Get rid of drugs and alcohol and then we perbly "devolve"" Dumb.
You could make a paradise where suffering doesn't exist. And if it doesn't work out you can fix it or start over or try something else.
And your only argument against trying it is... "prurberbly weren't werk..." and "i only know how to do two things..."
Ho-ly shit. No, that does not make Iron Man look good.
>>88514734
Is there anything that sticker can't do?
